I saw Julie Andrews in person last week at a speaking event for her new book and it was one of the most magical moments of my life. See this woman while she’s still in great health, folks. It’s an experience you will cherish for life. ❤️
i DO NOT need to see her in person; she has been part of my heart and soul since i was a little girl. I am happy that you got to meet her though. Her voice will live on forever for me.
I am so jealous! I could only dream of meeting such a great lady and my favorite singer (even though she doesn't have the range she once had). She doesn't even have to sing! I just love hearing her voice.
Perhaps I had a wicked childhood Perhaps I had a miserable youth But somewhere in my wicked, miserable past There must have been a moment of truth For here you are, standing there, loving me Whether or not you should So somewhere in my youth or childhood I must have done something good Nothing comes from nothing Nothing ever could So somewhere in my youth or childhood I must have done something good For here you are standing there, loving me Whether or not you should So somewhere in my youth or childhood I must have done something good Nothing comes from nothing Nothing ever could So somewhere in my youth Or childhood I must have done something Something good
It's so interesting to rewatch this movie as an adult. It's an entirely different experience. And instead of gravitating towards the more upbeat songs, you find yourself crying to this & Edelweiss.
I went to a movie theater (maybe 6 years ago now?) and saw the "sing along" version - where they subtitle the songs and encourage people to sing along . . . wept thru the whole thing
For me, this song is more about my friends. When I was young, I was very poor. I was always getting into trouble, and was kind of an asshole (to be frank). But now, I have loving friends, who love me for who I am. Somewhere, in my youth or childhood, I must have done something good.
This song is so emotional. One day, I wept, when I kept playing this song, over and over, but sometimes, a song can be based on feelings. 56 years, and always a classic movie.

Whenever i get a boyfriend or a husband i am playing this song for them and they will agree that this is the sweetest song ever and that the Sound of Music is the best musical. I love Julie Andrews! ❤️❤️
The soundtrack of this movie was immaculate in my opinion. Comparable others “Tommy” “The Wall” “Annie” “Grease” “West Side Story” “les miserable” “phantom of the opera” to name a few. Perfection.
To the actors and actresses who passed away my thoughts are with your family you may gone but not forgotten still going julie Andrew and Christopher Plummer gave us something good one of the best and favorite romantic songs ever I love it when he taps her on her nose one of the most romantic scenes ever god bless you guys thanks you guys rock way to go one of the best and favorite songs ever appreciate you guys and the memories thanks !!! ❤Joe

Song of the day 12.10.2017/ when will i get to say “no it’s finally serious-with your kiss you’ve sealed the weightlessness-that, just now, was the end of the my wanderings-that, just now, was the beginning of my happening.” Between then and now, there is no meantime, there is only the breaking that at every breath shatters the frame.

I love the cheesy song, cause it reminds me of my own life. I am still a child (16years old atm). And I’ve been in some toxic relationships and I have been groomed among of being bullied/ verbally and mentally abused and I believed I was too ugly and not worth anything and wasn’t lovable and now I’m in the most stable and a amazing relationship and yes it isn’t perfect we have our fights but we make it up and it goes great from there. We both aren’t perfect people no one is, we both have our flaws and was both hurt in more ways than one but I am so grateful I met my current boyfriend cause he is the best thing to have happen to me and I would give anything in the world rn to see him ( EDIT: me and that boyfriend broke up, as I said in a comment. He ended up being another abusive partner and it’s a oh well.)
As someone who is 32 and has a history of falling in love & falling apart, this comment reminded me what it feels like to love…on the same day a guy asked me out for coffee. It’s been years since I dated. That stopped after the abusive relationship. But I said yes for some reason, and then came to this song. Then I read your comment. Regardless of whether that relationship has still held up for you - it made me remember why we keep trying. So thanks, 16 year old stranger. You have wisdom to share.

I'm making a remake of the sound of music Mia wasikowska is forline Maria and Michael Fassbender as captain von trapp and their version going to be better than the original of julie Andrew's and Christopher Plummer.
After the war in Europe, and the deaths of millions of people, and rapes of millions of women by Axis and Allies troops they had to make a sweet totally escapist musical to honor the memory of those times.

I would have loved to meet her
Perhaps I had a wicked childhood

But somewhere in my wicked, miserable past
There must have been a moment of truth
For here you are, standing there, loving me
Whether or not you should
So somewhere in my youth or childhood

If I get married again, want to play this song at my wedding.
I loved this movie as a little girl. Maria’s bubbly, albeit clumsy personality made me feel understood. ❤️

Wonderful song, wonderful show, wonderful performance !!!
This song makes me feel good.
That break in his voice😢😭😭😭
I'm thinking if I ever get married, this might be the song I dance to at my wedding.
Can anyone imagine if Julie Andrews and Bill Lee performed "Do I Love You Because You're Beautiful?" from Rodgers and Hammerstein's *Cinderella* ?
Coincidence since she did Cinderella in 1957
And Bill Lee participated in the 1965 broadcast version.
@@craigtalbott731 I read he was also the voice of Caleb in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.
