    FIXED! Ever since I put rechargeable batteries in my thermostat (two months ago), I haven't received the "low battery" message once. I think the low voltage charge from my air handler is going to the batteries, not the thermostat itself. Before, when I first installed the thermostat, I got the low battery message a few days after placing batteries in it, and had to replace them about every week.

    I purchased 2 of these units probably 6+ months ago now, and they are really good units. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxcr5WULFU6yC9UUKc_cdNJT9jGa6VxO1l They are great for 3d printer plastic dry boxes, freezers, vehicles, gun safes, and more. The unit in the picture was pulled from my deep freezer and moved into my truck center console (monitoring humidity for water leak). It took a few hours to thaw and normalize temp and humidity reading going from those extremes, as expected, but it handled it well and is still running great.

    I have a Williams wall heater and millivolt thermostat. Running power, even a 24V transformer would be a major pain. Does anyone make a battery powered Smart WiFi thermostat that will work with a 2-wire millivolt system with no power? Is that even possible? Is this how you set your up?

    We tried to connect one using the Nest power converter and it didn't work. I'm surprised you were able to get it to work without a C wire. I'll have to give this a try and tell it we have a C wire. I disconnected the power converter and put my old thermostat back on so we can have heat just until we get this figured out. You say it charges your batteries? Have you had to replace them much? Wondering how long the batteries that came with it will last till i get some rechargables. Will it still control your furnace even if the batteries are dead? BTW, if anyone needs the Nest power converter, Google will send it to you for free. there's a link in the setup app. don't pay $25 for one.

    It’ll eventually give you issues. Especially if you live in the northeast or any cold region during the winter. I install nest products for a living and a c wire is needed. Otherwise you can use a learning thermostat that will usually function fine with only heat. If you have heat and ac you will need a c wire or plug in transformer. You can use a nest E thermostat but they are hard to find due to being discontinued for this new model. Not a fan of this model btw...

      I have a jumper wire installed in my old thermostat, do you know if i need to install jumper on nest too?
      Please & thanks

      In addition, the publisher of the video can also simply install a "Nest Power Connector" at the HVAC unit (or zone controller in this case I guess) which converts the R and W or Y thermostat wire pair to three outputs. R, W or Y, and a C wire.
      See the Nest instructional video here for instance ...

      @@antonioterrell354 yeah pretty dope how they came out with the power connector. Already installed a few and works fairly well. Still a lot of issues with customers that have older model control boards but I’m glad they thought of something to help the c wire issue.

      I have heat-only for specific zone that I am trying to replace old honeywell with Nest, I have only 2 wires at this specific location (but at other locations I noticed I have C wire, because they also control A/C cooling unit outside) Do you think it will be a problem?

    • @NYEK_GTR_
      @NYEK_GTR_ ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@HeadingForTomorrow just charge the thermostat for about 30min prior to installing it. You should be fine since it’s heat only for that zone.

    Do you have to recharge the nest e upstairs without a c wire? I haven’t been able to set up a nest e in my house because it dies and doesn’t turn ac on just the fan only. I have yellow green red and a blue instead of c for o/b with jumpers on old thermostat

    How long does it last exactly, without a c? Does the thermostat send a message to change the battery?
    My concern is that this either shuts off, stays on or flicks my boiler on and off when the battery gets low,
    They originally said it could be battery only, but recently said it needs C

    • @jamesbond-jr3yh
      @jamesbond-jr3yh  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah the thing is to make sure you have a brand new battery when you're doing the install and what it will do is we'll kick on the system and it will start to work. When the battery gets low the Wi-Fi will be the first to lose connection. You can still control the thermostat by walking up to it and touching the side and you can potentially restart the thermostat and the Wi-Fi will work again but eventually you will need to change the AAA batteries. Once set up is complete 1 a month change you AAA batteries.

    Please do this over and rotate your phone so the lone way is right to left. You would be surprised to find out how nice it is to see a wide screen video.
