HCTV - Fallow Deer Hunt - Winter Deer Camp 2022 - Nundle State Forest

This year we moved our annual Father and Son Winter Fallow Deer Camp to the Nundle State Forest System. The public land hunting opportunities of the system mean there is lots of land to explore and plenty of game to be had if you are willing to get out there and get after them.

Using thermal technology to spot animals whilst hunting or before the hunt is not in the spirit of hunting.Each to their own.

There are lines for sure that each of us don't like to cross. I personally don't like spotlighting for Deer, others don't like the ethics of long range shooting as it has a higher margin of error. Regardless of what I think, all these things a perfectly legal and at the end of the day, R License hunting is about Pest Management. Appreciate the use of a thermal is not in your opinion in the spirit of hunting but the biggest issue we face as hunters is that we publicly disagree with each other rather than support each other. If its legal, there are those that will enjoy it.
People can travel hundreds of KMs and spend thousands of dollars to try to take a meat animal, any advantage to try and increase chances are going to be used. In Marks case I think he was just trying out some new gear but if it was to increase his chances of giving his young son a full and successful experience, I think I would see that as acceptable. What you raise is a fair comment though, like you say each to their own. In this case, even the bunny got to hop another day 👍
