Amy has said in interviews (more than once), this album was made for the fans. Which I read that to mean..."had it not been for numerous fans hoping and wanting another Ev album, it may not have happened". Basically the will of the fans came calling, and got Amy to stop the techno/synth experimental stuff she was working on (for her solo CD), and go back to writing with Terry for a new Ev album. Saying this is for the fans to me is another way of saying this COULD be the last "Ev" album.
Been a fan of this band since 12 years old. They rock harder than ever. Change is good for a band. I love them more than ever. If you are a true EV fan you should never doubt your favorite bands change. They sound so awesome now. Reminds me Origin a bit which I love a lot!
Once upon a time there was a band that made good music called Evanescence. Their singer was named Amy Lee. Years later, another good band came around...all new except for Amy...it was her new "band"...and just happened to be called Evanescence. That sums it up best. :-) 2 bands...both good, both with the same singer, and same "band" name. That's where the similarities end.
@foreverfree303 Ben and Amy formed Evanescence. David Hodges joined later, but before Fallen was released. He played on Fallen, but left just before it came out which is when John and Rocky were made full time members (they did record a little on the album). Will Boyd was on bass, and had been with them I think about a year before Fallen came out. That was the band..Amy was 1/5 of it. Now it's "her band", with just some guys there to play the instruments while she sings HER songs.
@musicfan41112 It's all about evolution. Evanescence evolve, they change as time goes by. For me, they're 10 times stronger than they were in 2003, when they first became known. We people change, we grow different from each other, we part ways, but in every period of our lives there are people who are there for us and our vision. This applies not only to bands, but to every single person as well. For me, this is Evanescence 2011. That's more than enough for me.
This must be the best song from the upcoming album!!! I wonder if there will be a better song. I would like to hear this song with amy lee and maynard james keenan singing too
@dudeboybaz92 Actually they joined around late 2002, so of course they aren't original members. I was referring to the original lineup once they signed with Windup records...whose still their current label. That's the time when about 99% of the world found out who they were. And THAT lineup consisted of John and Rocky, along with Will on bass. That's what people remember as the original lineup...as in once they were with a major label.
@FutileGrief You're definitely not alone. That's the vibe I've been getting from these songs :p I'm not really used to it yet - it's very different from the previous stuff (but bands change their sound over time and I can deal with it) - but I bet I'll come to really love it.
@foreverfree303 I agreee it's a solid album..no question there. But their future I think is still up in the air after this album's press, media, tour, etc. runs it's course (which will take at least until 2013). I think Amy will put out a solo CD. She's even mentioned that before in interviews...that it's something she's thought about, since she has alot of songs written that wouldn't fit on an Ev album. I'm pretty sure we'll see that eventually. Beyond that, who knows.
@foreverfree303 John and Rocky (and maybe Tim?) also contributed to the Open Door. I don't know the specifics on this coming album, but Troy wasn't even officially in the band until June. By then this album was done more or less. Maybe he made some suggestion on a few things here and there, mixes, etc. but I know for sure he was with Seether during the writing and recording of Ev's new album. Not sure what input Will and Tim had. Terry likely helped with the writing as before.
@iloveevanescence1795 Because she's had 4 years to rest her vocal chords. :-) (except 2 shows during that time) I hope they hold up for this upcoming tour. They'll be put to the test for sure.
@qehc Yeah, because those were just initial shows. For the actual tour she'll have a new wardrobe, she's already mentioned this in interviews. I'd expect something quite different from what's been put on TH-cam recently. As far as the whole show I mean, not just her outfits.
@onefromthemass Yes it's not the *original* lineup"...since that was just Amy and Ben (not even David yet)...but since their major label debut is what the majority of the world got to know them from (and 1st time most people even heard of them), that's what people consider their "start", at least on that scale. And of course John and Rocky as well as Will were in the all the album artwork. *That's* Evanescence as most got to know them. They built onto the duo, until it was 5 members.
@mattyb97 not true- they hired musicians to play with them live in a band format since the beginning. The Open Door was written by Amy and Terry but other musicians put in their part. That is what most bands do anyway.
So stop saying they are all different! Amy has always been the leader, Ben used to but seriously he left the band in 2003, 8 YEARS AGO! And I think the news songs are awesome, cause Troy and Will has a rocking soul! They match with the cool bass and crazy guitar with Tim and Terry! and last but not least, the amazing composer, piano and harp player and wonderful singer Amy Lee
@foreverfree303 Whose been saying that? What I know is that Amy, until very recently (within the last year) had plans to release a solo album. I think she still will...it'll just be a few years later now. I think she had doubts on the future of the "band"...I mean let's face it...the diehard fans KNOW Evanescence is really Amy Lee with guys supporting her now. She knows it too. Even in interviews, she says things like "my band" instead of "our band". Think about how that sounds.
Ok, 4 all those people that are saying that ev original members were also Rocky, Jhon, and Will boyd are totally wrong! they joined the band when fallen was already made by amy ben and in some songs david hodges. The only ones that enters in the creative parts are Amy & Ben (1998-2003) then in The Open Door is Amy & Terry, and in this record is the whole band not only amy + ben / terry. Jhon helped in some rifts along with terry but he didn't created not even 1 song. and My tourniquet is a cover.
@mattyb97 Terry isn't an original member. Evanescence was a band. That's what I remember seeing in 2003...several times. A great band. Amy is still in a band, with the same name...but a different band.
@musicfan41112 But, What everyone needs to understand, Is the only original members In Origin were: Amy, Ben and David, Fallen: Amy and Ben, The Open Door:Amy "Evanescence":Amy, Terry. The band was never a "Band", It was a creative project for Amy and Ben and It never was formatted as anyone else, Until now, Which makes the band stronger and, If I may say, Better.
@onefromthemass If Evanescence was a project formed by only Amy from the beginning, then what you said would make sense. If the "other" members of the band were merely musicians needed to complete the sound she were trying to achieve, from day one. However, that's not the case of course...I mean it wasn't from about 1994-2003 anyway. Since then...it's been more that way. It's fine if an artist wants to change....I think that's great. Which is why I wish she had gone solo after about 2006.
@musicfan41112 If the original lineup still existed today, people would see Amy, Ben and David Hodges performing live and in the studio in a completely different way. This would not be Evanescence as we knew them in 2003. There would be no live drums and bass. I know my example is far too imaginary, but I hope you see my point this time. :)
@ScapeSnow This new album is ALOT different than Fallen. They're 2 totally different types of "rock". I like them both, but they're completely different.
@musicfan41112 I can see what you mean and you're not totally wrong.Yes, Evanescence 2003 and Evanescence 2011 are almost totally different. But that, IMO at least, is a result of evolution of the "trademark" Evanescence. Either we like it or not, Ev is an artistic product. So, I have to talk about Evanescence, and not Amy Lee, Ben Moody etc. Also, I think that changing hired musicians doesn't count as real lineup changes. Not into the kernel of it, at least. Well, Ev is what they are now.IMO :P
@dudeboybaz92 Do I mean 2003 about what? I know that's when Ben left, but what in particular are you referring to? I didn't reference anything like that.
@AngelOfTime I'm a fan of Amy Lee. Therefore, I liked her old band, called Evanecence...and I like her new band, also called Evanescence. :-) Coincidence? Yup.
Anyone notice at the beginning where Amy says it's been SO MUCH FUN she sounds like a little kid in a candy store? lol She kind of 1/2 way screams it....I think it's cute. You can tell she's excited about performing live again.
@musicfan41112 I suppose we won't come to an end, we have different opinions... And that's cool. Well, it was great arguing like this and not swearing each other :P
@musicfan41112 Uhmm... Well, they always were a band, they still are, but since 2003 at least, they are an artistic product too. It's not negative, it's the natural result of being a professional band. I see what you mean, and I can agree with you in some extent. But since Amy held (at least) half the inspiration behind Evanescence, I don't think that this is another band. It's the same band, with toally different memebers and a new sound, that reminds something of Ev back then.
Anyone going to predict a reunion at some point in the future with all the ORIGINAL Ev members? :-) Stranger things have happened. Here's my prediction...this will be the last Ev album with this "band" as we know it. Amy will likely release a solo album in another couple years, if not sooner. THEN, maybe just maybe in 4 or 5 years from now, all the original band will reform and play one or maybe a few reunion shows (like Soundgarden did)...and that'll be it. Just a hunch.
@musicfan41112 Okay, YT makes this conversation pretty retarded, this should be on a forum :P Anyway. I'm talking about the fact you say, that most people go to Evanescence shows in order to see Amy. Well, yes, and I can't see what's wrong with this. Amy is the main songwriter, the person who writes all the lyrics, the frontwoman, the voice of the band on and off stage etc., and the members agree with this.. It's sensible. But I personally also admire all five members, especially Terry and Will.
The reality is...ever since about 2006, everyone going to an "Evanescence" show is REALLY going to see Amy Lee. I mean...survey the crowd at any given show. I bet you won't find ONE person whose there to see someone other than Amy...from the band. I don't mean in addition to her. I mean...going JUST to see that other person or persons excluding Amy. You won't find one person like that. If you did it would mean they'd be fine still checking out the show if another singer was on stage.
If it helps I also don't consider GNR to be GNR anymore. It's just Axl. I know Dizzy is still with them and he was around back in 1993, but wasn't there on Appetite. I can concede though and say MAYBE there's 2 members left. But the other 4 or 5 guys are just instrument players. It's not GNR without Slash and Duff, and either Steven or Matt (I could accept either one as drummer).
@musicfan41112 sorry but that's not true. we all know that fallen created by Ben, Amy and David. The open door by Amy and Terry only. but this album is a BAND collaboration. when I say Band I mean the whole band and that's what Amy is saying recently in each interview, and that's one of the two reasons why the third album called Evanescence. Amy Still 1/5 of it. I think she had doubts on the future, but not anymore.
@musicfan41112 I can see your point, but I just can't agree with it. And I can't see your example as accurate, since you're comparing Ev to a band that has been in the record industry for 50 years. Actually, you're comparing. That's wrong. Also, think that most people (including me) got to know Evanescence as Amy Lee, Ben Moody, Will Boyd, John LeCompt and Rocky Gray. But this is not even the original lineup! (i continue on my next post)
What if Mick Jagger grabbed Larry, Moe and Curly and went out on the road touring as the Rolling Stones? Would that been good? I mean....if change is good as you're saying. I think/hope you see my point now. :-)
@InternetChoirProject I have no idea what this has to do with free speech...but moving on, I know Amy and Ben are who started the band. And unless you're Ben, then you have no idea what he would think about it. :-)
@xPaLmaaHx Velvet Revolver HAS disappeared. lol They're doing nothing...maybe still a band on paper, but they're basically done. Ever since Corey Taylor backed out of being their new singer, that put them on an indefinate hiatus. And Ev has a better chance of reuniting than GnR. Although I wouldn't completely count that one out either. There's been bands who've done that before, that for many years (sometimes decades) people thought would never reunite. Anything's possible.
I see that as "building" the band....so it took them about 5 or 6 years. :-) But to go and CHANGE 4 out of 5 members....that's no longer the same band...not even close. It's another band with the same singer Evansecence had, whose still using that name since Amy is under contract with Windup...she has the rights to the name. She could even be solo with everything else recorded as backing tracks and use the band name. Band members do change...but 80%? That's another band basically.
I've already had some reservation about the new band members...I mean...let's face it...Ev has REALLY been Amy the past 4 years or so. Wasn't looking forward to the new album really...but with that being said....I have to say the new sound is GOOD. Regardless of who the backing guys are (and yes, that's what they are), the music is good, rockin', and really that's all that matters. Good catchy straight forward rock songs. I suppose we'll get that long awaited Amy solo album a bit later now.
@xPaLmaaHx Actually WATF put out an entire album, had 3 singles from it...had a couple of tours, and is about to release a live concert DVD. They're doing "quite well" I'd say. But this isn't about that band. I was just saying it would be cool if, maybe 5 years from now the original group reformed (with Will Boyd on bass...who's NOT in WATF)...and just play a reunion show, or maybe a really short "tour". Kind of like a farewell for all the older fans who were there from the start.
@musicfan41112 Ok if thats gonna happend, then the Guns N' Roses are gonna be reunited too! :D Yeii Velvet Revolver will dissapear! I mean! keep dreaming ¬¬........
I think there should be a rule in the music industry...once the majority of a band's members have changed from their original lineup, the remaining people shouldn't be able to continue using the same name. It's very misleading. So maybe if Ben and John were still with Ev (or Rocky instead of John), I could still say it's the same band. At least then 3 out of 5 would be the same. But changing 80% is too much to still be using the same name.
@musicfan41112 I guess that's not going to happend, Amy doesn't want to know about Ben and let's face it, Ben Moody is a nobody WATF have just put out One fucking single, and it was an awful song so now, Amy realizes that and I know she is gonna be famous with this NEW ALBUM, She is not gonna share the fame with those losers (WTAF) They have spoke shit about her, she is not stupid, she is not gonna be like "ok, now i want to be back with the old losers who said shit about me and be a loser too"
@onefromthemass Evanescence was a band...not an artistic product. lol Just like any other band, it was a group of people who came together and made music. That band is no longer. The singer from that band however is still carrying on under the band's name with others playing the instruments. Still a rock band, just a different rock band, but the same name, and same singer.
I wouldn't like it if this song turns out to be a single. I love this song but I think it has to be as Hello and Like You. So much mistery around it that it can mean more to the fans. Who agrees with me???
Amy has said in interviews (more than once), this album was made for the fans. Which I read that to mean..."had it not been for numerous fans hoping and wanting another Ev album, it may not have happened". You can tell she really enjoys singing the new songs a lot more than the other ones.

i love that song thnx for the upload buddy !
Love this Song!!!
QUEEN IS ONLY ONE :p
NO MATTER IF SHE SHOWED HER ASK, SWEAR , AND DEVASTATED EVERYTHING HER VOICE HOW ALWAYS IS THE BEST :p

@FutileGrief I already commented somewhere that I feel so much Nirvana in this song, it's incredible
omg i love that they can still draw such a big crow its like u see other bands come back frome a 5 yr breack or some thing and only 20 ppl show up
am i the only one loving the echo at the end of the video?!!
why everyone keep saying this is the LAST album for the band !!!!!! stop saying that ... I think this is the new beginning for the BAND.

@charliebrown97651 I agree....the 2 shows I've seen clips from sound good. Her voice is well rested. I don't think anyone's disputing that. :-)

@musicfan41112
I agree with you but who cares.. music is still great :)
5,000 of the views are from me.
@stupszwerg Haha ;)
RIGHT IN TWO...
just notice that she wore the same skirt for three concerts in a row.
@musicfan41112 Ok if thats gonna happend, then the
Guns N' Roses are gonna be reunited too! :D Yeii
Velvet Revolver will dissapear! I mean! keep dreaming ¬¬........
@musicfan41112 I guess that's not going to happend, Amy doesn't
want to know about Ben and let's face it, Ben Moody is a nobody
WATF have just put out One fucking single, and it was an awful song
so now, Amy realizes that and I know she is gonna be famous with
this NEW ALBUM, She is not gonna share the fame with those losers
(WTAF) They have spoke shit about her, she is not stupid, she is not
gonna be like "ok, now i want to be back with the old losers who said
shit about me and be a loser too"
@onefromthemass Evanescence was a band...not an artistic product. lol Just like any other band, it was a group of people who came together and made music.
