Dude I watched 5 hours of Sportsnet coverage of the trade deadline and you've given better infirnation and been more entertaining in under 10 minutes. Keep up the great work!
Tell me about it, corporate media is dying, indiependent content creators (without corporate sponsors) are the way forward.
should have watched tsn
As a Blackhawks fan, Stan Bowman should not be allowed anywhere near an NHL front office. The Chicago Core was built by Dale Tallon, who lost his job largely because of a paperwork error. Bowman gave out too many poor contracts (Brent Seabrook for eight years) and refused to let go of aging players and embrace the rebuild.
Yes, and then there was that small matter of somebody whose name sounded a little like Lyle Teach (or something similar🙄🙃!), wasn't there🤔? And which 'GM and coach' duo were in play at the time THAT whole nasty episode was playing out...hmmm, I just can't seem to recall their names😬?!
Totally agree. Tallon built the Cup winning Hawk teams and Stan Bowman slowly dismantled them with bad contracts and horrible trades.
Panthers fans owe Tallon a bit of credit as well. Fair play to the current gm for putting the final touches on their championship, but the core was built by Tallon.
Without Tallon you probably don’t have Barkov, Bob, Ekblad, Huberdeau, and Weegar (the final two sent to Calgary for Tkachuk.)
Tallon is criminally underrated, and now he works for Vancouver, ironically, as that’s the team that drafted him in the first place way back in the day. $10 says the Canucks get one in the next 5-8 if history and track record has anything to say about it.
Go ‘Hawks.
This has nothing to do with his GM work. It's about Kyle Beach
What happened to Beach was a shame, but has nothing to do with what we’re talking about here. This is about how Dale Tallon consistently builds kick ass hockey squads.
I wish Beach would of beat Aldrich to within a inch of his life and would of been well within his right to do so.
On the Demko injury: If it was an MCL injury, as people speculated, they rarely require surgery but leave the knee, and importantly the ACL, very unstable, especially in lateral movement. From the language they've used for the injury, my theory is Grade 2 MCL tear. Can be rehabbed to full repair, surgery only required for a complete tear.
Could be a while, though.
You know what's going to happen. He'll be fine until he isn't and then he'll be gone for the season.
This has never happened before, I swear it.
I guess the Canucks got a new fan today! I’m really heartbroken Sherwood wasn’t resigned by Nashville but with him all the best in Vancouver.
Definately the best free agent coverage today thanks The Hockey Guy
I'm hearing rumors of the Oilers looking at Bowman. I can't overstate how much of a problem I have with this as an Oilers fan.
Oh you’d love him.
Maybe his first trade will be Draisaitl for Brandon Saad, a backup goalie, and a 2nd RD pick.
Personally the idea of him being allowed to return makes me furious. If he gets hired, that team can rot, in my mind. 😠
Oilers get these weird players. Evander Kane, Corey Perry and now Stan Bowman. bruh.
@@srinathganapathy289At least perry fully admitted to his wrongdoing and got help to improve his character. Don't lump him in with Kane and Bowman
Keep posting whether they hire him or not. We're here for just your traumatic takes. I am mostly a Habs fan, then Oilers, & other fellas. Take some classes, plus listen to the Eagles' song: Get Over It. No need for permanent bans. Even if a Canadian cuts a guy's head off on a GreyHound bus, he has been rehabbed & free. Executives served their sentences, & deserve to work again. Enough with Berkeley, California.
@@PrositronMcHappy This is a very normal and understandable reply.
Definitely some sneaky reinstatement timing by the NHL.
Nope, if there was a legal reason to keep them out then that is what they would have done for obvious reasons.
It's why they need new leaders in the highest level
@@jon-pauljeandron4439this and Colin Campbell in the Hockey Hall of Fame within a few days of each other isn't a great look for the NHL.
@@gordonmacdowell8117 Yet, they're doing more than fine.
Yea, kind of convenient eh.
We are very lucky to have this man I am down here in new jersey watched other networks it's official the hockey guy is the very best
Bowman is already kinda set to go to the Oilers. Crazy.
I heard that rumor and that's why I watched this video. Oilers fan, Bowman sucks as a GM. The Cup winning Hawks teams were built by Dale Tallon, who was fired when all the pieces were in place to win. Bowman took over and was given all the credit. He made one bad trade after another until the team totally sucked.
Happy Canada Day to you & Yvonne. 🇨🇦👍 Watching in 🇬🇧
Maybe Columbus should hire Quenneville. They haven't had a proper dumpster fire for months.
Quennville next head coach in Columbus ?
Think the same thing
I can respect Dubas slappin his junk on the table and saying, "This is what it is and this is what we're doing."
That said.... Idk if he even makes it two years when the core retires.
Shannon, have you had time to feed the rabbits today? How do you not lose your voice? Great job and much appreciated.

I definitely wanna know what happend in 1939
The NHL establishment proving yet again that, in the end, its mindset for a being a Good Ole Boys Club never really changes. Quenneville & Bowman. *Sigh*. Though I hear that Quenneville says he has had change of heart, changed his ways, right? You know, seems I heard the same kind of thing from the lips of Mike Babcock during his rehabilitation tour before getting a gig with Columbus. How did that turn out? Oh, right. Not well. Because he hadn't changed at all. He just said the things he knew people wanted to hear, wanted to believe. Because that's what liars & phonies who want more money do. Play on the gullible who are desperate for success. Just in time for the NHL to recycle another old Head Coach. Wash, rinse, repeat.
I loved Quinville, could live without Bowman, but My opinion is this fell on Bowman,Q,was coaching the team !Bowman handled the other topics! In this day and age,it is a rough road to hoe!
It was literally a coach who abused Beach@@tomfilipiak3511
Here come all the moral arbiters.
Why is the NHL reinstating rapers!?!?!
Could you do a video on the career of some of the all time great gms?
Gotta be one of Bill Torrey, Glen Sather or Sam Pollock
Just want to thank you for your continuing great in depth coverage of all things NHL hockey ...to me you have become the online version of old "The Hockey News" ....also are still doing player profile /history vids.....would like to see one on Ryan Murray ..one of those decent but so often injured "blink and you miss him" players ..remember i was so hyped when the Oilers signed him after his Stanley Cup run(kinda ironic considering the Oil chose between him and Yakupov in the draft) with the Av's and bang! the long term injury thing ...still he was player i always liked . Keep up the great work and content .
I hope Landy plays for the Avalanche this year

Big Z going to Boston is poetic justice. Course i respect Z for respecting Chara's legacy with asking to not be called Big Z in Boston. Tbh boston seems like a great fit for Zadorov
The busier things get the better your videos. We are fortunate you decided to start a hockey channel, thank you Sir.
Zadorov nickname could be Big Zaddy.

Maybe Nathan's or Oscar Mayer?
I like what Mark Lazerus said about the reinstatements: "We want people to learn from their mistakes, to grow from their mistakes, to teach others to learn from their mistakes. From what I've been told, Quenneville and Bowman have done so. And I'm glad. Genuinely. That matters. That doesn't mean they deserve reinstatement."
It would be neat if all 32 teams passed on the both of them to send a message, but we know that won't happen. It's just hard to forget that they were part of the management that let Aldrich go to a school and continue his horrible behavior.
I have no clue what Bill Guerin is doing. The number of roster spots for rookies--and the Wild's available cap space after the buyouts--just keeps shrinking.
Pittsburgh have to bring up their only 2 worthwhile prospects and get them to play for real, see what Alex Nylander did when given minutes to play in a much lesser team.... Sam Poulin and Ty Smith (whom they got from NJ who maybe had him play too early in the NHL, is now a very good defenseman, the best pointer in Wilkes-Barre-Scranton Penguins and the only time PIT gave him play in the NHL, in 22-23 season, he had a goal and 3 assists in 9 (also +3), the "kid" is ready. They have extra cash to sign someone meaningful who is 25-29, (the Jeff Carter retirement helps too, they're not the kind of team with just a million or two below the cap. I think they might trade Jarry if Jarry becomes himself again, last year he was either great or awful, a lot of shutouts, but he still wasn't the guy he was before the injury he had at the end of the 21-22 season, last time they made playoffs (DeSmith injuring himself in the first 2 minutes of the first game against NYR was facepalm inducing). Domingue did ok, but the Rangers only beat Pittsburgh in that first round, which PIT was leading comfortably at one point, when Domingue had to start giving weak goals, as he is mainly an AHL goalie, maybe a second goalie in a team with a very strong first starting goalie. I still remember a few of the weak goals Domingue gave that totally reversed the momentum in the Rangers' favor.
As long as they never miss the playoffs by playing against the worst team in the league on game 82, needing just one point to make playoffs, winning then totally dropping the ball in the third period, getting massacred by the 22-23 edition of the Blackhawks, thus keeping them out of playoffs in a season where the supporting caste, not the core, was underperforming or injured. Not a very lucky team, you make some of your luck but sometimes the universe wants to balance things out a bit too harshly and you lose your 2 main goalies in a 1 week span at the end of the season/first game of playoffs.
At least they're now rid of awful defensively, awful offensively, "why are they even here" d-men like Ruhwedel and P-O, sorry P-O but your brother Mathieu is much better.
Middleton extension is fine, 4x4 is the going rate for hard-nosed top 4 defensemen, he should have a better year with Spurgeon being back this season
Bowman is incredibly overrated. As a Blackhawks fan, I respect what was built during the cup runs, but Bowman did very little to build those teams. Other than Hossa, I feel like most of that heavy lifting was done by Dale Tallon. Clearly the Beach situation is inexcusable...I agree with THG...would be surprised if Bowman gets a GM job ever, likely an assistant or an advisor of some sort. Given what happened, he's lucky to say the least.
Quenneville spoke with Kyle Beach. Kyle Beach doesn't mind Q returning to the league. So, why do all of you?
It's interesting how different Trotz's philosophy as a gm seems to be from his coaching style.
? remember, david polie had most of the time a tight budget where there future was up in the air 2007. not until say, 2012, preds have becoming more of a attractive market to play...well, most of it is the city and i guess the organization is well run....and u dont play under the megapressure like the leafs.
Pittsburgh and Tampa are going in the wrong direction, contending wise. The Bolts will make the playoffs, but won't be going deep. The Pens, are borderline. This core has likely seen their better days.
Pittsburgh has to rebuild. But it looks like that won't happen unless Crosby decides to leave.
I think he should. He's given Pittsburgh everything he can at this point. Its whats best for him and the Pens. He can take a run at 1 last championship and they can start rebuilding Pittsburgh again. Maybe they can get the next Mario or Sidney if they can get a 1st overall pick.
Love that Middleton is sticking around, he may not be the best defenseman but he's got a great attitude and he can definitely boost the morale of the team
Rielly Smith was horrible last season after the first month. He ended the season on the 3rd line with O'Connor and Bunting ahead of him playing much better hockey. Trading him makes the Pens better, not worse. As for Dubas, I think the goal is to make the playoffs and see what kind of noise they can make with a core that has had playoff success. They are not going to eclipse the Rangers or Hurricanes barring massive bad years from them, but they have the top end talent to carry them in a playoff series.
Paying that much for Middleton seems strange but i like the amount of years. See if he can out preform from the previous year
I feel like the Pens have to say that lol. But honestly, if they started rebuilding/retooling several years ago, they could have been back in the race much sooner (like this season or next season). I think it's nigh impossible to do anything now.
I've been a Pittsburgh penguins fan for my entire life just about, and the only thing I can think of that would get them a Stanley cup right now is Mario lemieux coming out of retirement once again to save our souls.
What is Pittsburgh afraid of? I've been saying for years they need to cut some players loose.
*What Dubas Said:* I have no plans to rebuild. I want to build a contender before the core retires.
*What Dubas Meant:* Yeah, guys, this roster is so f%&$ed up beyond repair that there's no point trying to rebuild while the core's still here. Settle in for many a year of pain, Pens fans.
Looks like, the situation Karlsson got traded into is basically the situation he signed into when he signed with the Sharks (a team that mortgaged the future for a decade and right when he came in, the bill came due).
Can't wait to read more repeated lies and misinformation regarding that 2010 incident.
You can say Quennville is a bad person, fine, but man is he a great coach. He'll get a job if he wants one.
Dubas is in over his head. Just because you're good with numbers doesn't mean you can run an NHL team!
They should both be out of hockey for life. They looked the other way and ruined someone's life. Sad.
Imagine if the Leafs had just waited. Oh well. Berube is still solid.
Rape cover-up: few years vacation, small fine

Saw your better half at the expo grounds in Abby!! Happy Canada day to you and your family!!
Not crazy about the Middleton extension from Minnesota, but maybe with all their new prospects they want to retain some veteran presence
Other than the skjei contract I think the preds have done an absolute amazing job this free agency.
Someone get this man a beer. Like 10 videos in one day!
Reilly Smith was terrible last year anyways glad hes gone
Keep Bowman away from Chicago.
Not a big deal, but I haven’t seen you mention Kapanen resigned with the Blues for $1m for 1 year.

To be fair it nice that Kyle wants that but unfortunately it not likely to happen I mean Pittsburgh had 3 cup in the last 15 years so they got there already but I understand wanting one more but honestly it better just start rebuilding now
He showed up 4 years to late to keep the core a contender.
@@bbeaup true
Quick, someone take the Oilers away from Katz before he does something really stupid
As a Pittsburgh fan, they will be absolutely hard to watch next year. They desperately need a rebuild. I don't know what Dubas is thinking, the team is just too old and too slow... I expect them to be at the bottom of their division next year at this point...
Dubas is going to do to the Pens what Doug Wilson did to the sharks before the rebuild and run the team into the ground.
That's what it looks like. They mortgaged the future for years and now the bill has come due.
For bonus points, both grabbed Karlsson just before everything fell apart.
@@CSXIV The Karl trade for both of them was awful.
The Canucks at the very least are going to be miserable to play against next season. Teams are going to be stockpiling ice packs and Tylenol as well as preparing for a mentally and physically draining night against Vancouver. Sure, Myers as a top 4 defenseman, especially with nobody to really step in if there’s an injury, even short term, doesn’t excite me, especially with Demko’s injury history, but it’s only the first day of free agency. The Canucks have lots of time to make moves. And as stated, they are going to be hard to play against.
As a Caps fan, Dubas is quickly becoming my favorite GM.
😂
GM of the year. sigh. Between him and Fenway sports, they wil ruin the franchise in 5 years.
As a rangers fan I’m glad that sweep made the gm wake up so I give ya team props trying to give alex one more run to the cup 😂😂💯
It had nothing to do with the sweep. We have known for three years that we didn't have the team we had under Trotz.
@@KevinWindsor1971 I know I was joking bro 😂😂😂 they a young team I can’t say shit tho honestly Ovechkin got a cup 6 years ago there are ranger fans still grasping the 94 victory and I grew up watching messier and leach im like bro this is so old im still mad that i had to watch henrik lose to the kings in the Stanley cup that’s one player who truly deserved to get one and i grew up watching a lot of ranger greats
Pittsburgh should have started the rebuild when they missed the playoffs the first time... it'll be a miracle if they even make the playoffs with their ancient stars, let alone the cup. Would love to be proven wrong
I mean I think Washington has pushed themselves up a lot the last few days. So why doubt the pens? Have to build through the trades like Washington probably cause of cap. But can see it happening
Pens could contend if they adapt to a stars style lineup where the veteran leaders play more peripheral roles to the young guns who drive the point production. It’s all rumors and smoke and mirrors but guys like McGrorty

Gonna have to let TLG take over for a shift of this keeps up
Maybe the Jets get off to a lousy start to 2024/25 season & fire Arniel & convince Quenneville to coach in Winnipeg.
I have been wondering what was up with Joel Quenneville? And you answered it today. I suspect next coach fired gets replaced by him
Gonna miss seaweed man
I think Quenneville will end up coaching in Columbus or Philadelphia.
Vincent will always be slow and the puck will always be a grenade to him. Wish him luck.
I thought Dubas said he didn't want to be GM again, and that it would just be a one year thing as he looks for the actual GM
1st for CHRIS TANEV IS 34
Little Z is good
So pretty much the pens arw going to bomb again next season.... neat
Can Demko stay healthy, can Boeser stay healthy, can Petterson stay healthy?
Noob question.
How are teams able to sign players from other teams right on the first day of free agency?
I thought they can’t even talk to them until July 1 and then there would be hammering out of deals which should take weeks.
Because they all tamper.
Dubas is delusional
As long as Crosby and Malkin and Letang are there, Kyle Dubas is going to try and keep Pittsburgh competitive.
@@darthvader3742 Better to trade them and do a full rebuild.
