I really like this tune! Reminds me 28 Days later, a little bit of Enslaved and Ihsahn melted in a marvelous way! Thanks to Shining to still giving me thrills!

Their evolution kind of reminds me of Ulver. Like how they've just expanded their sound so much and really pushed the boundaries of the genre. That's the sign of a true musician.

Nice, I picture empty streets emerged in fog. Basically Silent Hill which a lot of shining tracks fit the energy of.

Not always my favorite style of metal, but this guy has some captivating vocals and imagery!
I didn't listen to this genre of Black metal, I used to find Shining videos here and there but didn't pay attention until now with the New álbum titled Shining and I downloaded it... It's like holly fuuuuuckkk the New álbum is awesome and now I can't get enough of Shining, passed from Cannibal Corpse to Shining, it's a different leve of musicianship and feeling

Don't get it twisted ya pricks, this is black metal art at its absolute finest and most honest. This is a person's reality, not imagery of any type.
He managed to get three pieces of masonic symbolism into one picture. That's amazing. The hand across the stomach is the penal sign of a master Mason and symbolizes disembowlment, the sign of silence and finally pointing to the eye of providence.
this is the essence of depression. don't think commercial success ever disturbed Nikolas, There is a special purity in their clean guitar parts. Shining makes really perfect music.

He also admitted in a recent interview that the band's name is taken from the book and movie The Shining, after years of saying it had to do with Buddhism ("some other thing"). This song has a rendition of the 28 Days Later theme song and Shining has used movie score music as the basis for a few other songs of theirs throughout the years.

I agree. Looking past the clean production reveals this to one of the darkest Shining albums made.
This might be my favorite song of all time. It’s a shame it had to be omitted from the later releases of the album. Fortunately I’ve got the original cd.

Why is this masterpeice not on the Spotify version of this album. Him using the 28 days later melody as intro "played by him/band an not sampeled" can not be the reason. Most if not all melodies, riffs you can think of already exists recorded somewhere. It's how you combine it with the rest of the composition and the spirit you are able to convey wish is the only pure originality anyone can offer. Same goes for every art form. Every story has been told a thousand times before in various costumes,settings etc
Stop all those commercial thoughts.I think they just evolved and they detached from what depressive black metal scene has become (an ensemble of screaming idiots about idiot lyrics about how life is depressing because oh-god-my-cat-died with a not so depressing guitar pro's piano).Niklas' clean voice always make me cry and his songs leave a void in me.When this won't happen anymore I'll think that Shining is commercial.

It's really strange how I switched off and never even inhaled that sax till now I remember when I was younger I saw a movie 28weeks later,and thought what a building of fear track it was like skin crawling not surprised 18 years later discovered shining and enjoyed my trip since how cool can anyone tell me which came first not to be a cricket just had to know

and you know i think this is pretty fucking dark, just listen the lyrics, find out what they mean and listen the guitars etc and you will find out that this is probably the darkest album of shining anf i have listened them all.

This sounds like something I'd say, and I guess I can see what you're saying... but alas, I only started liking this band from the last album. What early stuff are you referring to? What album shows their pure essence of anger, pain and depression? At which album did they lose it? I will go back and listen to what you recommend and try understand what you're saying.

Actually when we were writing for the pre-production and I was playing around with this theme and then I thought oh fuck it’s the theme from 28 Days Weeks later actually and then recently I heard they used the same theme in the, what’s that superhero movie with that little girl like 12 years old who kills everyone? [Kick Ass]. I don’t see it as stealing or anything but it inspired me and we did things with it like put saxophone on it and this eerie twist of melodies..

The main acoustic melody is too close to John Murphy's "in the house in a heartbeat" from 28 days later. Still a brilliant song.
Pretty much a straight rip from 28 days later. I do like the saxophone however, very melancholic.
