I like watching these. I can see where there's cause for concern regarding stereotypes. However, many characters on the show where beautiful, classy, dignified, and articulate, and most characters played "white-collar" professionals. In addition, there is no denying their ingenious comedic timing and phrasing of one liners. Furthermore, I see their influence on Sanford and Son and even Archie bunker, because like Kingfish, he was always mispronouncing word. So, yes, I see both sides of the argument. @@dvrmte Your correct, the NAACP's position was that it didn't present a "positive black image" that would "enlighten/educate"...., which imho is not the primary "goal" of COMEDY. Please give Amos and Andy a measure of respect, and put it into perspective. (The t.v. show, not the earlier radio version.) Think about the popular white comedy shows at the time: "I Love Lucy"... In terms of acting, writing, and comedic talent it is easily just as good as those two classics. The radio show? Hell yes, that show was racist. The actors and actresses are stellar, great comedic timing, and worked fantastic as an ensemble cast. Are some of the characters questionable? Yes. But I'm not sure labeling everything about those characterizations as stereotypical is fair. Ralph Cramdon, Lucy, Fred and Barney, Greg Brady's "music" career...almost every 70's, 80's etc sitcom had characters with the same personalities. Greed, desire for quick money or fame, stupid actions....it's a common sitcom and movie plot device, it helps drive the comedy. I can't disagree with anyone who is justifiably offended and hurt, but when I view this show now I'm amazed by the talent of the cast.

I wonder if the Traveler's aid is anything like the Green book kind of thing where we learned about places to stay that were safe for those who could not stay in "white" hotels...Shame we jumped into not keeping this up post-integration. Would have saved people a lot of money and kept the black dollar in the black community.
Traveler's Aid is a charity organization that still exists. It is available to stranded travelers in many larger cities and they can help anyone who finds themself in a hardship when traveling. The Green Book was another tool that helped Black people navigate their travel back in the day when we were not allowed accommodations in the White establishments. A few of the businesses from the Green Book days still operate today. We can still educate as we elevate and entertain one another. ✊🏾👍🏾
Great idea . If people support their own communities neighborhoods would not have deterated as much . People would have local businesses close by and not have to travel to shop.
AMOS AND ANDY was a great show with a cast of seasoned and overachieving performers. It sickened me to see their work trashed by race-obsessed noisemakers.
I never knew what this show was about! I heard of the show, but never saw it or what it was about. I thought Amos and Andy were more of a couple. But it is a surprise and soooo funny! I discovered the show this year and am loving it!! Never saw on TV! So unique and clever!
It's a shame that we're forbidden from making fun of black people today. Watch "Kingfish" very carefully and you'll see the brilliant acting he put into his character.
The 50's were great and not racist. The 50's were all about progress. Just about everyday in that decade something really great and wonderful happened to bring people together. Any bad stuff you saw in the 50's, that was all left over residue of past generations and it became less prominent as the decade rolled on. Compare the 40's to the 60's, you'll see the 50's gave us a whole lot of love and any hate was there in full force in the 40's. That's the problem with liberals these days, they want their perfect outcome without the progress part. They want to snap their fingers and change the world like tyrants. These days the 50's get no love because of feminism. They want to make everything about themselves, so they can't talk about the black struggle without spreading lies about the female struggle as if blacks and females who are white were in the same boat. Women were happier, healthier and more wise back then. They were not appressed. They were free. Being happy and true to yourself and how you feel, that's freedom. Working 40 hours a week, the same work everyday, getting paid, that ain't freedom. Paying for school to train you to be a good little worker, that isn't freedom. Men in the past made way more sacrifices than women did. The future is female and females will never let the 50's get the recognition it deserves because it's too emotional for them.
I recall watching reruns of this series on tv as a young boy back in my native WV. Fact the characters were black like myself was never an issue. I thought THEY WERE FUNNY! One must consider the place & time show was produced. If there were certain stereotypes of black people involved, these were mild compared to racist trash of earlier film works. I'm tired of P.C. gone berserk.
"Take a letter sweetheart" 😂😂😂
this is one of the best sitcoms of all time

KINGFISH: I Promise Honey, I'll Never Let You Catch Me: L😂L! PRICELESS!
“I been married to you for 22 years and you done soured me on the whole female race!” 😂!
@A2D4,
Gender not race
@A2D4,
It's not female race, it is female gender.
all sitcoms (situation comedy) have a clownish character to take the edge off of sometimes serious topics.. Like in Goodtimes. They dealt with some serious issues in the Chicago hood, but JJ was there to ad a comical side
"I just got a look at that old shoe of yours!"
I love Ernestine Wade
This one tickles me.
8:05 "I gotta man....I gotta man...I gotta man!!!! " (Woman looking for love = Charging locomotive)
I agree when I die I wants tapes of all episodes playing in my coffin so I can laugh at death
there's a surreal quality to these shorts. this one had an exploding intercom, another a winking pig.
It's possible it is something like that!
I been married too you for 22years n you dun soured me on the females 🤣🤣
Sapphire is hot!
At 5:00 Sam Mc Daniel Hattie's brother .
👍🏿💕
Calhoun getting his ass whooped.... LMAO
21:20 "I aint no flounder".
Kingfish too
Cracks me up. Too bad people can be so stuck on what they think is offensive ...
Was the times. admittedly Kingfish’s english hurts my ears. 😅
Almost and Andy but king fish was the star it appears. Lol
It was basically the Kingfish show with Andy. Tim Moore was a genius comic so no wonder they made the show about his character
LOL I laughed so hard
The kingfish has a better apparent than Ralph and Alice has
" I'll Never let you catch me " !!!!
