Or, LiftMaster sells their own version of this Tailwind device, the 828LM Internet Gateway, that will install easily with your existing RSL12U Gate Opener and provide you with a mobile app for controlling your gate.
@Total Security Warehouse How close does the Operator unit need to be to MyQ Gateway? Or does the signal come from your cell phone, once 828lm is linked? I really cant find any information on range of signal. Do i need to possibly run ethernet up front to my entry gate? Thanks so much for any help as I am definitely interested in installing one of these
@honeyforslug2hardware.0, the wireless range of the 828LM Internet Gateway is between 300-600'. It is recommended to install the 828LM as close to the gate operator as possible. Once the 828LM and the gate operator are linked, everything is done over the internet; when you select to open your gate from your cell phone's myQ app, the signal will go out to the internet and come back in thru the internet to your 828LM. That signal then goes to the gate operator via the wireless connection. Hope this helps.
Thank you for this tutorial. I am going to be doing this install today! Hope all goes well. Do I have 3 minutes to get to the gate to do all pairing? I'm having to drive about 1000 yards to the gate from the home.
After installing. I learned that I was lucky enough to have a wifi signal from the home where the router is to the gate. Unfortunately I learned that it's best to install a wireless bridge from the home to the gate, which allows there to be 100% connection for operation. Without the wireless bridge, you are fighting against the weather. Meaning any wind, rain, snow, will disconnect the gate from the router. @@wilsonorr6762
@Shalea Palm, no pressing the Reset button multiple times will not erase any programming on your gate. The Reset button is used to stop your gate, as well as get into some of the special programming modes, like pairing your gate operator with your myQ gateway.
Is there a range the bridge must be in to communicate with the gate?
I'm curious too. Did you figure it out?
The MyQ app is atrocious and the support to get it to connect is unhelpful and outsourced. Please fix it.

@BOSS VISUALS, yes unfortunately you only have three minutes to pair your gate. You might have to work with a partner on this one.

You can not schedule MyQ to open the gate at a certain time "Gate can only be scheduled to close" what a waste!!!!
