    Thank you. I just bought a zuki that did not come with the remote. Everywhere is on backorder. Boom did you mod and worked great. Thank you again.

    Thanks for the video! I think I'm going to do the same thing...
    Rather than a toggle switch on top, I went with Warn's power interrupt kit. That way you can put an on/off switch inside the cab, where you can get to it from the driver's seat. If something goes stupid wrong with the winch while you're using it, it's nice to have the option to kill power to it from behind the wheel. Also, with a kit like that the only "hot" wire that is always live is the short cable between the battery and the interrupt's solenoid.

    Just want to add the outputs of the wire colors of the badlands plug. Yellow-green = hot,
    black = ground, Blue = winch IN, Brown = winch OUT. Just in case your winch is not color coded to the badlands colors

    10-06-2021 To keep that pin from rusting just squirt some gear oil in there. It won't interfere with the electrical connection but it will keep it from rusting. Or cut a piece off a cotton t-shirt and put it in there to soak up condensation .

    • @schwazman1
      @schwazman1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Cotton is the last thing you want in there. It attracts moisture. Dielectric grease should be the only thing in there besides the remote end.

    Cool. I’ve got a dirt cheap HF winch and bought dirt cheap generic remote but can’t figure out how to connect it. There is no relay as far as I can tell. 12 volts go into wired remote and when you push the button 12 v goes to one side or the other on winch motor. Anybody?

  • @bdmal615

    Your cable needs to be respooled just freewill the winch and pull all the cable out and under weight reel in cable a tire a kid pulling on it as it reels side to side only going to next roll after completely covering bottom 1 notch on e brake and pull towards tree,I say this only because when the cable crosses and tangels,causing flat spots and freys compromising the integrity and strength of the wire rope or cable and lastly never hook the cable hook on itself you need a strap or even chain,when the hook is on the cable it pulls on the individual strands with a chain it pulls with the whole strength you look like a man that helps people I just want you to be safe man excellent video

      Yep, all valid points! And I do this normally. However, in this case the winch had recently been used and I just wanted to get the line in as quickly as possible.

    Could it be possible to wire this same remote box to the internal contact to a Traveller 4500 LB. winch sold by Tractor Supply ?. Thanks

    • @brent440
      @brent440 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I wired in a flat four to winch and controller receiver but left it on the trailer in a freezing rain, after setting it near the wood stove it worked but the flat four didn't like sub zero temps as well, so I'm keeping both components in the cab and just hook them up with alligator clips, yellow/green 12v, black ground, blue in, brown out. The box on the winch is simple too, I noticed once I took the cover off. Main positive and negative, and have hot wired the box on the winch too, just moving a hot from either side of the coil terminals for in/out. it's simpler than it sounds, hope this helped

    • @brent440
      @brent440 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@matt8134 yes but I could have explained it better. Yellow/green is 12v positive, always, i guess., Black is Negative, or ground. The Blue is 12v positive just when reeling in, and the Brown is 12v positive just when reeling out. hope that works better

    • @brent440
      @brent440 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would say yes. On mine 12v positive green/yellow to activate remote box, plus the black to ground. Then the blue is positive for reeling in only, and the brown is positive for reeling out only. h ope this helps shouldn't recommend this, but you can have some jumper wires and experiment with the box cover off, doubt you'll hurt anything if you arc it quick, and what worked for me is th at I quickly was lucky to observe the winch reeling in or out depending on which side of the coil I touched a positive wire to

      Things that can tear your bumper off should not be switched by ground especially since they are not isolated from ground, and should anything short or get pinched to ground (basically anywhere on the winch, mount, bumper, etc) you'll definitely rip the bumper off, and probably start a fire. Winches generally come with circuit breakers which you install to the positive battery terminal for this exact reason.

    Smittybilt winches / Great BUT / IF they break there are NO Parts. I was told today that the solenoid i need, is in on a 60-90 day back order and not taking any more orders for the part. WHAT! Yea 30' of cable on the ground and NO parts. Fortunatly after tearing the front off my Truck to get to the winch solenoids, Yes you can override the solenoinds on the back side of the solenoid, by pushing in the rod. Been nice if Smittybilt shared this info with me. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Obouisly there going out of business !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Looking for a new winch................
    Can you imagine pulling out cable to save your ass in the MUD middle of nowhere and the winch wont real in.
