Prophet Samuel 'alayhissalam was sent to the Children of Israel. He was a descendant of the Children of Israel from the tribe of Levi, the tribe that God usually chose to give birth to prophets. As is already known, Bani Israil means children of the descendants of Israel (another name of the Prophet Ya'qub 'alayhissalam). The Levi tribe is one of 12 tribes originating from the 12 children of the Prophet Ya'qub as.
It is said that since the death of the Prophet Musa 'alayhissalam, the Children of Israel committed many sins. Never mind after he died, even when Prophet Musa (a.s.) was still alive, they had a lot of behavior. And when they left for 40 days for Prophet Musa (AS) to meet Allah on Mount Sinai (Tursina Hill), they made a statue of a cow as God, and ignored the warning of Prophet Harun (AS) who "guarded" them after the death of Prophet Musa (AS) which was only a few days.
As a result of their many disobedience, Allah neglected them from various problems. The Children of Israel, who usually lived in prosperity, were never defeated by the enemy, ultimately became an oppressed nation.
It was in this difficult situation that they only remembered Allah and hoped that there would be a prophet who could ask Allah for help, like the prophets who had been among them - most of whom they killed because their teachings were at odds with their desires.
At that time, the only remaining tribe of Levi was a pregnant woman whose husband had died. The woman named Hubla (Jewish and Christian version: Hana) was then looked after well by them. Hubla himself then prayed to Allah to be blessed with a son (because none of the prophets were female). So when the child was born, Hubla gave him the name Sham'un or Shamu'il alias Samuel, which means Allah heard my request. When he was old enough, Samuel then received a prophetic treatise, namely conveying the teachings of monotheism to the Children of Israel.
And their prophet said to them, "Indeed Allah has appointed Talut to be your king." They answered, "How did Talut obtain the kingdom over us, when we were more entitled to the kingdom than him, and he was not given much wealth?" (The Prophet) answered, "Allah has chosen him (to be king) for you and given you superior knowledge and physical abilities." Allah gives His kingdom to whom He wills, and Allah is All-Encompassing, All-Knowing.
