How do you deal with sticky turf at the initial insert, we wet our turf at the insert spot but can’t wet the entire length to the stick stopper. So it starts bouncing at the top of the key. HELP.
Hi @ginabritton2998 good question. I have two points: 1: Within this video Henry keeps his body and arms low throughout the whole movement, he doesn't raise up at the end and he doesn't push the ball into the ground. So, at the very least the ball is smooth and not bouncing during the push out and at the release. A solid technique will ensure that the bounces and hops are minimal. 2: Injections always bounce a little, even at the elite level of hockey. You can see the ball bouncing during the slow-mos within this video. Stoppers have to practice a lot. The best tip I have is to imagine you're trying to catch the ball, rather than chopping downwards with your stick. There are so many tips when it comes to stopping at the top of the D, we should really make a video on the topic.
solid video thanks
Great stuff
Yeah that was quick!!
Thank you!
❤️🔥🔥🔥
Only issue is if the ball moves/rocks after contact with the stick the 1st runner might take off and be furious because of the double touch/movement
