Lots of great information, for those of us who have a little idea of lights, lumens etc etc. Perfectly said buying the right tool for the job. Thanks for the great content and breaking it all down for us who use lights for work weekly.

    Dear Nitecore!
I bought HC65 one month ago. I used 2 hours light rain, and the headlamp is died. Was not waterproof. The support was okay, and everything was fine, so I decided I give second chance for this headlamp. I ordered the second one, but the fist, I did: those four tiny srews on the front (because that part was leaked) I tightened very well! After I just put into a cup of water minimum one hour. The test was succesful and I hope never be any problem in the future.
So please take care in the factory, because the srews just not enough tighten! Were very leasure!
    Anyway, I like it!

That is a nice tip, thank you! I also have the HC65, certainly will check those screws.

One important point is missed in this video. For powerful headlamps color temperature is very important. If your headlamp output is more then 1k lumens and the CCT is 6500K, you will be a bit blinded by reflections from water drops in air. Manufacturers usually don’t bothering customer needs and fall to “marketing fluff”.

Man, you really make all these light details make sense. the whole "turbo brightness" aspect seems irrelevant, considering they run for 30s-1m on "turbo" before they step down due to heat.. I have a Lumintop fw3t that will only stay on turbo for a few seconds before it steps down. And then on a headlamp, which is a very useful tool as a mechanic, anything over "medium" on an 18650 headlamp really blows out your vision! yes it's easy to be 'too bright' in that situation.
I've gotta get some nitecore lights. such useful info.

I bought a HC65 last year for my mountain hiking trip. Really love it because of the 3 LEDs, white for map, red for tactical movement and Main one for flood. For mountain hiking, the RED LED is super bright coz our eyes are sensitive to red light and it lasted for 2 nights climb at really low temperature of 2-7 degree C.
Only problem was the rubber holder broke a few weeks after the trip. Must be all the sulphur from the volcano. We entered the crater of Mt. Ijen...

  • @TheLittleDeath1

Thank you for your video. Some years ago I bought the Nitecore Thumb for work. Perfect for navigation in dark rooms and the red light if you want to preserve your night vision and / or don't want to be really seen. I'm satisfied with it.
Now I'm searching for a headlamp for hiking, backpacking, long walks, journeys. I was looking at the NU17 and some other Nitecore lights in that price range. I do not need a really long beam and the light don't have to be super bright. I saw the NU35 and I think I will buy it. It has a wide beam, auxiliary lights and red light. I really like the build in battery and that you can put extra batteries in it. That will be good when I'm hiking. There's no need to depend on the charger. I can use batteries. Sure it is bigger. But I think the light is the light I was searching for.

I ordered an HC65 from Amazon, and the ultralow mode failed and stayed off, I got the replacement and after a week of testing the fully pressed position of the switch failed and now hardly ever works to turn the main light on and off, I don't know if it's nitecore's fault or Amazon does some shady things there with reselling counterfeit or second-grade products.
