It's kinda like Escape from Tarkov in that regard. Playing it you swing between having the best time of your life to wanting to put your computer through a wood chipper... And the grind is much more bearable if you get a premium vehicle pack (preferably on upcoming anniversary sale), and that is by design to get more people to spend money. Also if there is one thing Gaijin deserves credit for, it's making an online game played by tens of thousands of people every day with basically no cheaters. There is quite a bit of bullshit in War Thunder, but not once have I encountered anyone I could even suspect of using 3rd party cheats. Cheaters are really bad for business and if Gaijin management cares about one thing, it's money.

War Thunder is an odd animal on one game I got five tank kills with a mid level tank and took and held a capture point single handed making me feel like the king of world the next I got sniped by STRV before I even fired a shot in all 5 of my tanks and almost broke my keyboard in anger. To say I have a love hate relationship with it is a understatement but ether way it's fun to what Nordern and his friends dick around in it!
Warthunder is definitely one of those games where u will have a massive love hate relationship with it, and yes it is very very grindy of a game

Honestly, WT isn't TOO grindy. You get respawns in all modes, and earning 1,000 XP per game is pretty easy.
