Took me a while to get the joke; regarding Fossil's battery life. It is no more efficient than any other WearOS watches. Battery life, in short, sucks.
Thanks for the detailed review. However, I disagree that people are only buying this watch for the looks and not for fitness. If that was the case they would opt for a regular fossil. The fitness and tracking features in addition to the appealing looks all contribute in making this a great watch. I hope Fossil can improve the accuracy of the GPS in future updates.
I got the Galaxy Watch 4 and I seriously think it's an amazing watch. It just sucks that the Wear OS platform is kind of lacking in apps, but with the new unified platform I believe companies that left Wear OS before may come back again and maybe attract new developers and maybe higher quality apps.
I bought one and it's worked great so far. Deciding factor was a would rather have wear os 2 temporarily with Google assistant vs getting a Galaxy watch with wear os 3 now but being stuck with Bixby.
I've been loving my watch. If anyone is having issues with the battery, disable Wifi. It seems to be on more than it should and draining the battery quite fast. Disabling it I can now wear it to bed with 100%, wake up, go for a 1 hour workout with GPS and charge it at night before bed with always on display daily mode. SpO2 tracking is muuuch more accurate than the Samsung if that matters to you. The GPS seems to be a bit all over the place but stays roughly on track. Hopefully they can smooth it out with updates. A very solid watch without Samsung putting Bixby and Samsung Pay down your throat. Couldn't recommend more highly with the fast charging too.
I have Samsung watch 4 classic. Am using Google pay, never ever used Samsung pay, never used Bixby, so Samsung doesn't shove them down your throat, instead, they gives yoore options which are very useful most times.
@@coolguysandeep1197 I manually start my workouts and have no issues with the start of them being missing, but the lines aren't the neatest looking. Mostly on track but a bit wobbly, I'm fine with it.
@@coolguysandeep1197 I bought the metal strap one and it digs into my wrist a bit at the buckle part but aside from that the actual watch is fantastic.
Smartwatch doesn't need to be saved, it's already here to stay. The whole smartwatch industry is experiencing a big surge since smart watches became health oriented and now incorporate a plethora of useful sensors like ECG, blood pressure, SPO2 etc. Also let's add fall detection, wich was also one of the biggest selling points that helped the smartwatch industry to take off. Indeed having an unified platform will help the android smart watches gain even more popularity, though.
I have the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic now a month and a love it so much. But the Fossil Gen 6 would be my alternative, if the GW4 would not exists. These are really the most beautiful, stylish and noble smartwatches on earth. They are not only smart, they are Jewellery on your wrist. We will never understand how someone really can use the most ugly smartwatch on earth, the apple watch. It simply looks ugly and cheap!!!
I just bought the Galaxy watch4 classic... very disappointed in the battery life. I don't use it for anything other than time and occasionally a text message and don't even get 16 hours out of it. WIFI is off and so is most other stuff. I have been trying to find a good replacement and was looking at the Mobvoi pro3 or the fossil gen6. I drive a truck for a living so I don't really care about all the health and fitness stuff, I do work out but most of those features are not my primary concern. I NEED battery life and easy messages, emails, Pandora, etc. I love the look of the Fossil but not sure yet between the pro 3 or the gen 6. Is the wearOS an update that would be installed or is that something that would be released in a new watch? Not a tech guy so I'm not even really sure what the wearos is or does exactly. LOL Also since I don't do much on the fitness side does that even effect what I am looking for? How durable is the Glass on the Gen6?
Google's wearOS is an Operating system for android watches, like, Android/ iOS for Mobiles and macOS/Windows for desktops. It's going to be an Over the air update for the watch to update to wearOS 3. You would essentially need an internet connection to do that. That's about it!
Great review! Love your videos. How does it compare to the GW4 Classic in terms of feel (size and actual display) and health tracking (heart rate sensor)?
Damn. Very impressive microphone on the Gen 6 almost as good if not as good as the GW4. I have the GW4 but I love Fossil watches my first smart watch was a Gen 3. I'll maybe buy the Gen 6 when it gets WearOS 3.

Great review! I have the Gen 6 now, after several disappointing weeks with the Galaxy Watch 4. There is a lot to like with Gen 6, and I love the design (except for the huge bezel) but I'm probably going to return this one too. The health and fitness tracking is just not very good, and not having OS3 is a major bummer. All these tech companies are driving me nuts with this release the gadget NOW, without their major features available.
If you truly want a better health and fitness experience, I suggest trying a Garmin or polar, etc. I had the original gear frontier edition, then the fossil gen 5, and now the garmin forerunner 935. In terms of fitness and sleep tracking and battery life the Garmin blows out the competition. Yes you lose some snatch watch features, but you gain the fitness and battery life if you're more into that.
I have the galaxy watch 4 its almost perfect but the only thing is annoying to me is the battery. Am not asking much just 24 hours of battery life. Fast charging is needed so I don't need to loose more time not traking.
I got my Fossil Gen 6 1 week ago. The set up was a nightmare. 1st you are told to download Wear OS and the Fossil Smartwatch App. Once I set this up the answer and receive call feature just did not connect to Bluetooth. I did a factory reset then by myself found out that Wear OS is not now compatible as everything is done via the Fossil Smart Watch App for set up. Since doing this the answer and receive call feature is now working. A huge negative is the battery life. I have to charge it twice a day. Even after tweaking the settings. Don’t know why this is but every time after charging the Watch the dot feature on wifi connectivity turns wifi back on and the always on display too. On a huge positive is quick charge 80% in 30 minutes is superb. But as it’s a new watch I don’t get the fast battery drain. I want to give the Watch a go but not sure if it’s faulty or to return it. What Fossil should do is in the unboxing package they should update the leaflet to say only download Fossil Smartwatch App. Before doing a factory reset I noticed that I was able to have Wear OS App and to use the Google Assistant. Now that’s gone. Only option is Alexa. As I use an iPhone it is disappointing I cannot use the reply to text feature. Has anyone else experienced the same as me?
@@MikeOBrienMedia your reviews have been very helpful. I’ve been using an iPhone 7 Plus since launch and thinking seriously about making a switch to android, and needed the info you’ve been providing - including replacing my Apple Watch SE.
@Shamsheera Ashraf I’ve been thinking about the S21 Ultra on a good sale price, but I’m waiting to see what the Pixel 6/Pro has to offer. How about you? Have you got some other recommendations for me?
The bezel on the GW4 and Actives are big too, and the TW E3. It’s no big deal as we should be using dark faces anyway for the battery life This watch is guaranteed to get the update more so with the 4100 plus chip. The gen 6 and couple others will also receive the update.
looks nice but I'll keep my gen5 until it's updated to wearos 3. by then the bugs will hopefully be worked out and maybe the price will go down. would be great if there was a trade in program
I loved my gen 5 for like the 6 months it lasted dunno if I was just mine this seems better build quality the one bug bear I had with the 5 was every time you bent your wrist up it activated the middle button super annoying.
I reset my fossil smart watch when I paired it give me direct barcode of fossil app , when i tried to pair it with wear os app i cant , the watch didnt see the app , i rest it again and the same thing happened, how i can reconnec it with Wear os app .. please advice
Have a Garrett HR Gen 5 for like 3 months. I love it. And more for the looks of the watch. It looks like one. Don't have any complaints about the performance of it. And the battery life gets me through the work day. Maybe in a year or so, will get the Gen6.
This looks like a nice watch! I am a new smartwatch shopper and find your Apple watch videos very helpful. Would iphone users be able to use a Android smartwatch or would they be much better off staying with the Apple watch?
Got it yesterday, but have big big trouble with battery life -- The watch lay on the charging puck overnight, this morning I took it off the charging puck and the watch showed 75% battery charge. So I charged it again to 100%. At 7 o'clock in the morning with 100% out of the house, the clock used very discreetly today, now at 3:40 p.m. I'm at 9% !!!!
Sorry, but there's also Huawei with amazing smartwatches made of titanium and sapphire glass covering the display! Sure it doesn't have Google Pay, which is a big con, but because it doesn't have many other unnecessary features, the battery life is crazy-long, which for me is more important than anything else.
Awesome review man! I'm planning on getting the watch. I think it's definitely worth it if the Wear 3.0 update is guaranteed. Always appreciate your reviews 👍
Would this be a good smartwatch for an iPhone user? I don't like the look of an Apple Watch. I want something that looks like a normal/stylish day-to-day watch like this one. I'm currently using Fitbit Versa 2 and I'm looking to replace it soon.
Hi! Did you ever get an answer to this question? I would love a hybrid watch, but am bummed that most of them can’t be used with full functionality with iOS. I am not a fan of the Apple Watch. I currently wear a Gshock, but am looking for something nicer looking.
I had the Gen 5 and sold it due to battery and lag. I picked up the GW4 classic and the TW pro 3 for now. I will see what stock wear OS looks like on the tic watch when it rolls out and then decide on whether it is worth getting the Gen 6 or not. Thanks for the review sir. Cheers from 🇨🇦
@@tonykasunic1 well if money is not an issue get the gw4 classic. The bezel is nice. I prefer the looks and battery life of the pro 3 though. But the wear OS 2 is nowhere near as good as the new wear OS 3. But if you don't want to spend the money on the GW4 then you won't regret the tic watch. And it should be getting the new wear OS sometime next year . I could not decide so I bought both...lol
@@Andre_M_3D thank you!! I have the og gear frontier edition, and a fossil gen 5, but battery life is key. Just using my Garmin forerunner 935 as my daily right now, might wait for more watches to get wear os3, not much of an upgrade for me at this point. Was seriously looking at TWP3 though for battery life, and I know the Samsung is gonna be built better, and be nicer, and rotating crown....
@@tonykasunic1 you are welcome. Both are amazing. Yeah I agree on the fossil Gen 5. Oh and for work outs and health and sleep. You can't beat the samsung. Good luck and take care Tony
@@ntn814 Not too sure, really. Mine out the box was fast but maybe it needs a few cycles. 45 is a pretty significant difference though so I'd contact support if you're worried.
I'm eyeing this now that it's down to 180 on Amazon and wear os 3 is out. I have a gen 5 and gw4. the gw4 is great for the gym but I wear my gen5 when I want to dress up a bit. the battery life is terrible though.
I will never understand why smart watches have a black glass bezel instead of overlapping it with the stainless steels on the sides (RE: iPhone 2G’s chrome bezels) for a more edge to edge look. Yeah yeah, swiping is yuckier that way but honestly it’s a watch. Make it look better.
@@MikeOBrienMedia yes and there may also be sensors there as well like the ambient light sensor but that can go under the display or if they really want to cheap out they can make cutouts. It would still look better.
@@coolicz you’re right actually, it does exactly what I suggest. I just think the design is a little ugly in my opinion but it’s totally subjective. I don’t like the style at all and how the edges go up so high. Some people like it for durability though.
@@coolicz I also think Samsung is tacky when it comes to the materials they use on their devices. This isn’t stainless steel. It’s polished aluminum and made to look like stainless steel. They do this with their smartphones too.
G'day Mike, mate any word on a releas date for the Fossil Gen 7 running Wear OS 3 or newer? I suspect it's getting closer now that we are a year on from Gen 6. I do see they are about to release a new smartwatch yet that isn't a simular build design. A Garret design would be nice 👍 Anyway if you have any intel from your sources it would be appreciated as I would rather wait for that as not a fan of my other preference, that being galaxy. Personally not liking the design of the Watch 5 Pro as I am wanting something a bit more styled and dressed up. Just not willing to go back in time to a Watch 4 Classic which is what I was originally looking at doing.
First of all, I already purchased the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, so I'm not buying the Fossil. That being said, the poor fitness tracking would be a deal breaker for me. Also, the rotating crown on the Galaxy is the best navigation tool on any smart watch IMHO.
Thanks for the quality content Mike! Finally got a Gen 6 on the way as a Fossil Sport replacement...almost a year later...this will probably be my last Fossil watch regardless of how good this one is. The whole experience has been a nightmare.
I looked at the gen 6 last nite and the gen 6 is a beaut. The tan band was leather and silicone, high quality. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. Just turn off WiFi as that is a battery drainer.
Thanks for the review Mike! I'm honestly at a loss of what to do. I'm half tempted to wait it out and see if Google is going to release the Pixel Watch anytime soon, but if I have to wait until Spring 2021, I'm not sure I can wait that long. As a Google Pixel 5a owner, I'm currently leaning towards the Fossil Gen 6, but want to see how you compare it to the others in a side-by-side. Just wish Google Next would get here so we can all see if Google Pixel Watch is still a myth or fact.
Don't wait for a pixel watch. People have been passing on smartwatches to wait for a pixel watch for years. It is unlikely we will see one anytime soon
Inside scoop from Google is that their Watch project is going nowhere and it's best to not wait for one. It will be another couple years at the very least.
@@MikeOBrienMedia I appreciate your honesty! Thank you! Now, if anything, waiting for your side by side by side comparison to decide which to get for Wear OS 3!
Gen 5 after using it for a month, entire screen and body dismantles off. Many times fossil tried to fix it still they couldn't so they refund back the money. Hope it would not be the same case with this Gen 6.
I've fossil gen 6 watch in this watch there z the battery saver option in this category there r three options the last option z tym only I set that and now my watch just showing tym only I tried to get back to on and off the watch by pressing middle button but nothing happened. Plz guide how to reset the watch..
I have the Tic Watch pro 3 And I love it paired with my pixel 4a 5g but the fossil gen 6 looks nice as well! I like the battery life of the Ticwatch though due to the double display.
I want another one. I had one almost a year ago. Brought it back because it kept disconnecting from my phone. I went through the troubleshooting thing, and didn't really help. Maybe it is a battery feature? Saves battery when not being used. Maybe an Wear OS glitch? Not sure, but it pissed me off enough to return it. Has anyone else had this issue recently? Maybe they fixed it with an OS updats?
Fossil makes one of the best android watches and if you are a pixel user it's the best you can buy I use the fossil gen 3 and it still works seamlessly
Google confirmed over a month ago that Fossil watches aren't getting WearOS 3 until all the way in Q3 2022, unfortunately. They could change that, but it seems like it's an exclusivity deal with Samsung.
Thank you for this great review, Mike! Could you please let me know the SKU / internal Fossil number of the nice brown leather strap (as seen at 3:45)?
Well I had one of these from December of 2021 through February 2024 when I upgraded tk a Samsung GALAXY Watch 5 Pro. The battery life was an issue on the Gen 6 from day 1 and while it did improve with WearOS 3, it was still not a watch I could wear without charging daily. Overall the watch was buggy and frustrating. It was a very pretty watch that served me for 2 years but the Samsung is far better for me.
Hot damn, 3 minutes upon upload. Haven't been this early for a long while now. Keep up the good work Mike! Looking forward to Wear OS3 as a unified platform.
Your review just made my decision even harder. I have just got a nee Google Pixel 7, and want to replace my aged Fitbit Versa 2. My original plan was a Google Watch, but after rrading and watching reviews, and not really liking the "domed" glass face, I have been looking at other options. I currently have the Google Watch, Fossil Gen 6, TicWatch Pro 5, and the TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra in mind. I had the Garmin Venu SQ2 Music Edition on my list, but it appeared Garmin wasn't getting the Wear OS 3 update, so I think it's out. But I really don't know which watch to go with at the moment.
Hopefully not. The great battery life was due to not being a full featured watch. But would be nice to have canned messages to reply to calls and texts. Heck the Pebble watched could have voice responses and still have 5-6 days battery. Although the type of screen helped too.
I've been debating between the Tic watch Pro 3, Samsung 4 Classic, and Fossil Gen 6. Regardless, I'm still using my LG Urbane 2, so any of the 3 is a guaranteed upgrade!
Well, my current watch barely functions at all so I'm not waiting for anything other than myself to do a bit of digging into whats out there. The Fossil Gen 6 is on my short list though.
@@braydenwallbridge5595 Yep, that was the list. I ended up ordering a TicWatch last week, it hasn't come yet but I should get it this week. The secondary display was what really stood out to me.

This watch is guaranteed to get the update more so with the 4100 plus chip. The gen 6 and couple others will also receive the update.
looks nice but I'll keep my gen5 until it's updated to wearos 3. by then the bugs will hopefully be worked out and maybe the price will go down. would be great if there was a trade in program
Gen 5 won't be updated to WearOS 3.
I think he meant the gen 6 gets updated. smart move as it's down to 180 on Amazon and wear os 3 is out but there are still bugs
I loved my gen 5 for like the 6 months it lasted dunno if I was just mine this seems better build quality the one bug bear I had with the 5 was every time you bent your wrist up it activated the middle button super annoying.
I just purchased one today just waiting fro the delivery :),from £299 down to £134,i can’t wait :)
8:54 amazon Alex👌
Just trying not to trigger anyone's echo at home!
@@MikeOBrienMedia oh i first thought that Alexa with a male voice was Alex. your reply made my day thank you mate!
I reset my fossil smart watch when I paired it give me direct barcode of fossil app , when i tried to pair it with wear os app i cant , the watch didnt see the app , i rest it again and the same thing happened, how i can reconnec it with Wear os app .. please advice
What earbuds are you using with it? My Jabra Active 75t lags with Google Fit tracking and Spotify.
I bought this watch 2 weeks ago and its fantastic.
Would iphone users be able to use a Android smartwatch or would they be much better off staying with the Apple watch?
great video, thank you! beautiful watch
when is the roll out date of that big update and what is new
Got it yesterday, but have big big trouble with battery life -- The watch lay on the charging puck overnight, this morning I took it off the charging puck and the watch showed 75% battery charge. So I charged it again to 100%.
At 7 o'clock in the morning with 100% out of the house, the clock used very discreetly today, now
at 3:40 p.m. I'm at 9% !!!!
Will I automatically get wear os3 if I buy now? If not, can I upgrade it later on?
Sorry, but there's also Huawei with amazing smartwatches made of titanium and sapphire glass covering the display! Sure it doesn't have Google Pay, which is a big con, but because it doesn't have many other unnecessary features, the battery life is crazy-long, which for me is more important than anything else.
Cannot make calls or texts either... it’s a dumb watch...
Awesome review man! I'm planning on getting the watch. I think it's definitely worth it if the Wear 3.0 update is guaranteed. Always appreciate your reviews 👍
eagerly waiting to buy on malaysia..
Hi Mike, has the update happened yet? If not, how likely and how do you think an update would make it worse?
Cheers from 🇨🇦
Which do you like better, the GW4 or the TWP3?
Battery is awful
Can you test or comment (if you've tested it already) on the charging speed of the Gen 6? Does it charges 80% in 30 mins as claimed by Fossil?
I've got one and can confirm it charges at that rate. It's insanely fast charging!
@@kurtcrean don't know what's wrong with mine but it does it in around 45 mins. Do I need to get it replaced?
@@ntn814 Not too sure, really. Mine out the box was fast but maybe it needs a few cycles. 45 is a pretty significant difference though so I'd contact support if you're worried.
@@kurtcrean mine out of the box was slow for initial 2-3 cycles. It took around an hour for 80%. But after a while it has settled at 45 mins.
@@kurtcrean what are your top few selling point of this watch? I am considering to buy my first ever Gen6 smartwatch
I'm eyeing this now that it's down to 180 on Amazon and wear os 3 is out. I have a gen 5 and gw4. the gw4 is great for the gym but I wear my gen5 when I want to dress up a bit. the battery life is terrible though.
I'll put my money on Fossil updating this over Samsung making the 4s usable for Android users. This is my number one choice so far.
the 4 is usable for android users? im using it with a xiaomi phone and enjoying it
@@lishay3237 A few of the Galaxy watches sensors only work with Galaxy phones.
Does anyone know if Fossil gen6 will still work with Iphone after updating to Wearos3?
I will never understand why smart watches have a black glass bezel instead of overlapping it with the stainless steels on the sides (RE: iPhone 2G’s chrome bezels) for a more edge to edge look. Yeah yeah, swiping is yuckier that way but honestly it’s a watch. Make it look better.
I always assumed it was related to NFC coils but I suppose that could go behind the display if there was room
@@MikeOBrienMedia yes and there may also be sensors there as well like the ambient light sensor but that can go under the display or if they really want to cheap out they can make cutouts. It would still look better.
Galaxy Watch 4 Classic does not have this problem.
Thanx for the review brother
I am thinking to get this over thw iwatch
Do we know if there will be any updates to the Vivomove or watches like it?
Great review mate
Thank you!
Mike doesnt fail to impress
I'll wait for the Wear OS 3. Glad to know that detail.
Thank you for being the best Wear OS content creator!
I want the Fossil Gen6 but I'm waiting until the new OS
How is it working with Samsung phones, any bad issues or bad experience? How is the battery?
I'm gonna wait this out.
No Wear OS 3.0 until Sept 2022 for all devices. Samsung has exclusivity on it.
Great review.. but Confused between Samsung galaxy watch 4, fossil gen 6 and amazfit GTR 3 pro. Can you help me!
well, not sure about these Fossil smartwatches.. about battery and updatings.. one year, two years. what then? can still use or trow away?..
Really hope Google Assistant is better on this one. I have the Gen 5 and feel like when I ask it to do things it usually can't
Nice review! I can't wait to get mine.
How does Garmin fall into all this? The Venu 2S is the watch I've been most tempted by lately.
First of all, I already purchased the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, so I'm not buying the Fossil. That being said, the poor fitness tracking would be a deal breaker for me. Also, the rotating crown on the Galaxy is the best navigation tool on any smart watch IMHO.
Mike - have you tried to update this watch to Wear OS 3? What are your thoughts on the update with this watch?
@@RishikeshJeevakumar haha reading this comment now, the pixel watch has since been announced!
Good review. Thanks Mike
Did anyone notice that he said Amazon Alex instead of Alexa lol 😂
Gen 5 after using it for a month, entire screen and body dismantles off. Many times fossil tried to fix it still they couldn't so they refund back the money. Hope it would not be the same case with this Gen 6.
When I get a fossil hybrid HR, weeks later, gen 2 comes and now I want this full smart watch
I've fossil gen 6 watch in this watch there z the battery saver option in this category there r three options the last option z tym only I set that and now my watch just showing tym only I tried to get back to on and off the watch by pressing middle button but nothing happened. Plz guide how to reset the watch..
Tic watch pro 3 or fossil gen 6?
I have the Tic Watch pro 3 And I love it paired with my pixel 4a 5g but the fossil gen 6 looks nice as well! I like the battery life of the Ticwatch though due to the double display.
Thanks for the review. I am going to give this watch a try.
Hi from New Zealand would like one but they don't sell here yet.
Can't do that bezel going around the screen. 2021 and OEM's are still doing this?
Expect updates to make more accurate tracking
Fossil watches are nice to look at...I have a Gen 3 and it sucks so much with the battery. So I got the Samsung G4
The GPS issue is still on with Gen6. 01/09/23.
Can you do a refresher video with wearos3 now its available for fossil gen 6
Wow yeah you got here fast!
I'm looking forward to WearOS 3 as well. Hopefully it comes as planned this winter/spring
It may have come in a later update but I use offline Spotify on my gen 5
Wear OS 3 on a Fitbit will most likely reduce its battery life eliminating it's USP.
The only watches you should have on your short list, at least for now, are Fossil Gen 6, Galaxy Watch 4 and Ticwatch Pro 3.
@@braydenwallbridge5595 Yep, that was the list. I ended up ordering a TicWatch last week, it hasn't come yet but I should get it this week. The secondary display was what really stood out to me.
What is impressive battery life at 0:06?
How can you remove swipe in another direction out pls
By the time this gets Wear OS 3, Fossil gen 7 will be around the corner...
I was thinking this too, but then Gen 5 was unveiled in August 2019, nearly two years before Gen 6. I'd say there's a nice gap before Gen 7.
I'll get this but waiting for Wear OS 3.
The screen bezels are ridiculous for a new gen smartwatch, plus one year until Wear OS 3...
Great video. I want to know does this feels heavy? I mean it's 140g .. while samsung galaxy watch 4 is 30g only
Not really to be honest, i forget it's there till I need it
