Definitely a cruel fate. For Momo, his parent's deaths were just a short while ago, a memory still very fresh. While for Hiyori, it was so long ago her memories of them maybe a little faded. Even more cruel, Hiyori had to endure 20 years of suffering almost alone and Momo will have to bear the weight of wearing the mantle of leadership of Wano without the benefit of growing up. Both of their chances of a happy childhood stolen.

Everybody in that land has been preparing for this moment every day since Kaido and Orochi took over and the day to fulfill the land’s prophecy, where all of their preparation is finally proving necessary, is finally happening. This is why I’m finding Wano to be the best arc in all of One Piece so far.

His teacher back in East Blue is a descendant of people who left Wano.
