For dust collection on the DeWalt: Cut off the cloth bag keeping the connector. Wrap the connecting end of that hose in masking tape - sticky side outside, smooth side down around the connector so it can slide off. Hold hose with masking tape next to connector and proceed to hot glue gun it in place. Go slow as the glue will just run off if you use to much too quick. Use enough to make a robust fitting. A good 10 sticks worth. You now have a connector that the hose can slide in and out of and it can connect and disconnect from the tool. If your hose slips out of your new connector during use, you never used enough glue sticks - keep adding more and making it thicker and stiffer until it doesn't fall out anymore. You can paint the glue black to make it look pro.
I had both. Had the DeWalt sander first, I thought it was a really great sander at the time until I got the M18 free with an SDS Plus and I gotta tell ya, the M18 is taller and slightly heavier but much more quieter and smoother than the XR. The M18 became my go to and I eventually sold the XR. That being said, the one grippe I have with the M18 is the dust collection container, it’s trash…the vac hose attachment is great though, no complaints there. Run time on a 3.0HO is also really good too.
@@hammerheartdan6311 I’ve heard the same complaints by many. The new m18 sander is amazing, I’ve used it once when it was the prototype and I was impressed
I have corded and cordless Dewalt orbital sander. I don't know if my cordless dewalt sander is faulty, but I hate it's vibration so it's harder to control. My corded sander is way more comfortable to use.
Interesting, I find the vibration on the cordless pretty good. But nothing compares to my festool. But it’s corded so I tend to grab the dewalt more often.
@@hammerandhome I see, thanks. If it's still usable for you than mine's is faulty since It's unbearable to use. Gonna open it up, I hope I can assemble it perfectly later. Lol.
I just wanted to jump on and tell you to try a Bosch 18v sander or even the 12v. Both are the only ones i found cordless to compare to my air or electric sanders 💯 check out the Bosch and you will be blown away
@@toolsdealsautomobiles6980 I totally agree. I have the Bosch as well, amazing sander! Have you seen the videos of the new Milwaukee? Looks even better, the vibration on it is practically zero
I'm a return I'm Milwaukee... Seriously, I can't stand Milwaukee's ergonomics. Powerful tool but just doesn't feel good on the hand. The battery is way too close to my palm and I can't get a good grip.. Even worse, there's no good place to rest. Your fingers on.. it's really not even shaped for you to grab from the side
Got the corded DeWalt and its a beast. Sanding pattern is wonderfull, great results and the dust collection via a shop vac is top notch!
Definitely! I have a few different corded versions. All good sanders
@@hammerandhomehappy Thanksgiving bro
All the good Sanders and all the really really great Sanders are plug ins
@@rickyperkins232 totally agree, love my festool sanders.
@@rickyperkins232 thx! Happy thanksgiving to you as well.
Love my Dewalt orbital sander for home DIY
Nice tip on the interface pad- I had no idea such a thing existed for orbital sanders.

That M18 dust collection lid loves to pop-off during use. Very annoying.
It's odd Milwakee has not released a brushless sander..
Yeah I find it strange as well. I actually really dislike the dust collection on this. It never stays shut.

What is the throw on these?
Dewalt is at home depot right now 10/30 for 79 down from 169, can't beat it for 80bucks.
Ill loose all those bits for the Milwaukee in 5 minutes on site
lol I know, that’s why we need an individual pack out for every tool 😉
Milwaukee Power Washer yet???
🤣
Yup, spray a hose into the air input of their blower.

Both of those orbital random sanders suck. Just buy an Makita.
I haven’t tried the makita. For corded I go with festool all day long. 👊
@hammerandhome is milkaukee best to buy
No. Makita random orbital sander has better design and much easier to use. Been using my over 10 years now hasn’t failed me yet.
Or go for the bosch blue .
