You said that from the subnet mask I can find the host address and the network address, but I know there are classes that enable me to specify which of the two parts is the host and which is the network part.plz explain to me
Im still confused, how do you decide what on the subnet based off the ip address becomes a 255 or 0. Like what numbers in an ip address give me a /16 or /24? What makes it those based off the ip adress?
I want to thank Nintendo for helping kickstart my understanding into IP address formats with the 255 Rupee limit! Who says video games can't be educational?
You can tell by the subnet mask ONLY which part of the IP address is the NETWORK part and which part of the iP adress is the HOST part. 255 = 1 = NETWORK part.

Super good explanation! This shows, that didatics can be a form of art. Some questions: I think the majority is used to the /24 netmask. What are the benefits of having a smaller network portion? A performance gain? Are there any optimization baked in the TCP/IP protocol, that kick in when the netmask is reduced to amount of hosts needed?
Smaller Network Portions should lead to more hosts. Subnet Masks are classified in 3 Classes A: 255.0.0.0 B: 255.255.0.0 C 255.255.255 if the host portion is smaller it reduces the maximum ammount of hosts
Literally the perfect video on this topic. Quick, concise, easy to understand, answered exactly what I was wondering. Fantastic job and thank you!
Thanks

still confused how you got 24 as subnet mask at the end can anyone quickly explain this?
subnet mask is decided based on how many hosts you want... for ex if you have point to point link then /30 is used,
@@alexgonzalez-hy6xe See. The subnet mask was
11111111.11111111.11111111.00000000

Because you know if it is 24 '1's, it will be the first 3 octets.

Small correction. Since the advent of CIDR, classes don’t exist anymore. Addresses don’t have “default subnet sizes” like in the classful system.
Precise explanation. Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Very explanatory lesson, especially with the animations
Well informed video 👍👍
Thanks 🙏🏻

Well explained, thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
This was so helpful to me as Iam studying comptia A+
Great to hear!
Very splendid illustrations! Thank you!
You are welcome.
Kya badhiyaa samjhaya bhai 😭🙏🏼
Worth it to watch,really Helpful.
Nice to hear.
Tysm bro, just check, the subnet mask just tell us what's the host and what's the network
A Quick n Healthy snack for the NETWORK part of Brain.
Thanks
what is the software that u are using to make this video plz
You said that from the subnet mask I can find the host address and the network address, but I know there are classes that enable me to specify which of the two parts is the host and which is the network part.plz explain to me
How would it work if you had a mask that didn't fit neatly into the octets? like /26? Would the host section just have to be a smaller number?
if more hosts than go for lesser subnet mask
So... basically, the network address is the first 3 groups, and the host address is the last one ?
Maybe I’m just slow today i don’t get it
Im still confused, how do you decide what on the subnet based off the ip address becomes a 255 or 0. Like what numbers in an ip address give me a /16 or /24? What makes it those based off the ip adress?
Awesome explanation. Now i understood what's the number after '/'
I want to thank Nintendo for helping kickstart my understanding into IP address formats with the 255 Rupee limit! Who says video games can't be educational?
This is all fine but to set my adapter address manually I need to fill out gateway info as well. ....So What is that and how do I choose this value?
Assuming the last digit is is the host right?
Example 12.34.56.78
78 being the host am I correct?
Edited:
the Network [address space] portion would be
12. {255.x.x.x}
the Host [devices connected] portion would be
34.56.78 {x.0.0.0}
u hv to assign a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 if you want to use the last octet here 78 for host id.
@@SMURFwitAM21 how you identify that network is 12?
Very Clearly explained! Thx a lot!
Amazing! Just a little remark, 123 in binary is 1111011
Thanks a lot!
You can tell by the subnet mask ONLY which part of the IP address is the NETWORK part and which part of the iP adress is the HOST part. 255 = 1 = NETWORK part.
all 8 bits(1 byte) should be 0 to it to become the host part right?
Good description, and nice explainer video style.
Thanks
wow! much clearer now. thanks
You're welcome!
Will the changing the network prefix length help in increasing speed?
Lol there is an hours long video just on subnets below. You just explained more in 3 minutes.
awesome video and thank you for explaining IP address.
You are welcome
how did you get the ones 1 and 0s for the ip adress thst where im still confused at
then what would be the broadcast ID.. for a given ip with subnetmask .. how do we calculate no of IPaddresses..? could you help?
which ip and subnet mask ?
well explained thank you
You are welcome

still confused how you got 24 as subnet mask at the end can anyone quickly explain this? or the author
Understand this concept in a 4 minute video after 3 weeks in class failing to understand.
quick easy to understand and to the point thanks for that
You are most welcome..
Super good explanation! This shows, that didatics can be a form of art.
Some questions:
I think the majority is used to the /24 netmask. What are the benefits of having a smaller network portion? A performance gain? Are there any optimization baked in the TCP/IP protocol, that kick in when the netmask is reduced to amount of hosts needed?
Smaller Network Portions should lead to more hosts. Subnet Masks are classified in 3 Classes
A: 255.0.0.0
B: 255.255.0.0
C 255.255.255
if the host portion is smaller it reduces the maximum ammount of hosts
