The fact that they have enough trash every WEEK to make huge sculptures regularly is so depressing, but the fact that they choose to do so is equally heartwarming
If you're American, I do hope you realize we have the same issue. Take a good look around at all the trash we have.
The effects of Industrial Revolution
Yeah, whatever

Amazing
Super idea💯👍
Mmmmmm microplastics
😂
Nontoxic but the worker using the glue is wearing a mask…..
Because glue has fumes. There’s also the dusk in the air from cutting and sanding.
Oceansole is genius, the workers so skilful and the sculptures, small and large, are beautiful ❤
Amazing
🤩Amazing Ingenuity!🌟
making So Many MICROPLASTICS 😢
Not really microplastics, (at least i dont think it'd classify as such) flip-flops are generally made of a foam, closed cell i'd believe. They don't APPEAR to be using the straps just soles.
Brilliant!!! There's always a solution to every problem. Love the concept. 💯♥️
amazing
Africa has so much to offer
Right
They also use the scraps and bits in mattresses for the poor
this is wholesome for sure but what scares me is the amount of microplastics and shavings... do those go somewhere too?
Good 👍 👍
Why not trying to do a furniture?
Why not make it into footwear again. Though I'd guess art pays more per effort 🤔
Yes but also, they are cutting them down, not melting them down.
Part of the reason flip flops are such common beach litter is because they are made flimsy and break often then are abandoned. Once made into a sculpture it’s going to stay a sculpture--for a while longer, at least.
How long didthey save up their supplies before the fruition of the vision?
God bless kenyans 🇰🇪
Took Nerf Too A Whole New Level!!

AMAZING ARTWORK! 💕🙌🙌
Be careful with debris like dust from those flipflops because they don't do anything if you don't recycle that too.
