@@PeteWilliams-yy8wg Indeed, we have only been exploring them for a little over a year and are so impressed at how much love and care have been put into these abandoned railways to repurpose them into something beautiful and useful again.
We go 9-10 mph to extend the life of the battery, and enjoy the scenery. Typically the speed limits of trails are 15mph. This trail took us a bit over 9 hours with snack and foot break stops.
I have lived in Alderson for over 19 years and never knew that trail was so long. Gonna find me an eBike and start exploring (retired). Thanks for the heads up!
I’m so glad the video inspired you to explore! eBikes are life changing! Greenbrier is definitely one we will ride again, but keep in mind your power level so you don’t get stuck. There are no power stations that we saw, to charge and we almost didn’t make it to the finish line because we made a mistake in the beginning with our tire pressure. Low pressure decreases your distance by 3-5 miles. I keep mine at 35, but each bike and different tires take different optimal inflation. Good luck to you finding your bike and happy riding!!!
@@travlinfam Don't plan on taking the entire stretch in one trip. I'll start around Lewisburg and ride up about 25 miles and return. Then other days I'll drive to Renick and possibly Cass and explore a bit more
@ That is exactly what we will do in the future. We are glad we pushed ourselves to see if we could do the whole thing, but… don’t think we will ever do that in the future. It was too stressful and exhausting. It’s better to break it up into two separate chunks for sure.
This kind of near me; I ride a ecu and just got the wife a low end e-bike so we can ride state mountain trails once she gets used to the bike. What EUC do you have? I wonder if a Master V4 would make the 80 miles at a slow 10 or 15 mph.
@@RoyCarter it’s an original Veteran Sherman which when ridden between 10 to 15 gets its maximum range, so it pairs really well with an ebike. before we rode trails, we did a range test to ensure we could make the distance!
That was beautiful! Will "Google Earth" show details to plan to get to my local bike trails through neighborhoods, staying away from faster roads? Trike rider limited mobility handicapper here. Thank you for sharing that ride!
@@garyseckel295 In our experience, google earth doesn’t seem to do that, unless it is a feature we don’t know about. Your best bet is still google maps. Not sure if you drive or need to stay local, but if you can, you would love Greenbrier, the only even slightly busy intersection is in Marlinton.
Surprisingly, no. No power along the way. I was sweating it with my power levels and we made a mistake early on with low tire pressure which decreased my mileage. If there had been any more hills, I probably would have run out.
Yes! You can walk it or straight pedal power it. I believe, on this trail even horses are allowed, which is pretty cool if you’re lucky enough to have a horse.
Magic of technology! It’s the GoPro camera… although, after I accidentally ran over it with my bike, I think Im going to ask for a new one for Christmas. I broke the casing, so it’s no longer water tight. 😮
It’s all in google earth pro. Although, they certainly don’t make it straight forward. We are currently trying to figure out how to make the dot actually go through the tunnel instead of over it. There’s a way, we just haven’t figured it out yet. That’s part of the fun though!
What a great way to explore the railways.

Once again, a beautifully done piece of art. I loved it! Can hardly wait for the next one
So glad you enjoyed it! The next one is at the Kinzua Bridge. It’s a bizarre trestle that was destroyed by an f1 tornado.
Just stumbled onto your channel… loved this! Happy Thanksgiving!
Thank you! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours also!
Awesome 😊. How long did it take you from end to end / average speed?

Another great ride and video. We were very nervous at the beginning when you said the distance. Were there any charging options along the route?

Curious about how you get shots of both of you & enroute

How did you make the animated maps with Google Earth? Every tutorial I found uses After Effects. I'd like to not need additional software.

Drone shots?
Do you mean the google earth shots that follow the trail with the pink dot?
EV bikes. Lame. Guess I'll just ride that trail on my Harley. Whats the difference?
A Harley is a gas combustible engine and an E-bike runs from batteries. Both are a lot of fun though! Enjoy your ride!
They make the trails accessible to more people. I feel Ike that’s a good thing.
