- ➡️ Eus is one of the classified Most Beautiful Villages in France , located in the center of the Pyrénées-Orientales department, in the Occitanie region.
It is located 36 km as the crow flies from Perpignan, prefecture of the department, and 4 km from Prades.
The name Eus comes from that of the holm oak, Elex in the local Latin dialect (Ilex in classical Latin).
Eus is mentioned under the names of ipsa Elzina in the 10th century, villa Elz in 1035, Hels in 1053, Heus in 1212 and finally Eus in 1359.
