someone should open a movie theater and just run these types of films 24/7. Put the "new" stuff out of business!

So true. I know I would pay to go see these types of movies in the theater, would be a blast.

Spot on pal. The new style of Horror film is bad. It's worse than garbage tbf & H.. I haven't watched any of the Horrors since the 1990's and even then they weren't great either. The 1930's, 40's 60's & 70's Horror films were the best made imho..

Many thanks for posting, I haven’t seen this one before. As others have already commented, it’s hard to believe that this isn’t a Hammer production, as it has all the hallmarks of one.

A great but overlooked gothic horror film from the genre's heyday. This flick and "The Blancheville Monster" (1963), another neglected gothic gem, share many similarities. Although, of course, I was never there, I'd dare say "The Black Torment" presents a remarkably authentic even if fictional depiction of life in late eighteenth century England. Thanks for this beautiful post !

Comparing these old films to modern films leads the viewer to one inescapable conclusion. The more film technology improves, the worse the creative side becomes. I wish they'd learn how to make good movies again.

I think there are some good movies made now, but basically your right, (unfortunately).

@@stephenwilson5713 Whether it's his right or his left does not matter. You have to realize that for every film put up on youtube, there are 10 films that were so bad, and I bad in a bad way, that no one even remembers them. Kind of like classic rock music. Everyone remembers the Who, but what about Kiki Dee, Captain and Tenile. Really really bad music.

    • @bluevictory1010

Correct, there is zero creativity in films today, they're all crap. Movies like Black Torment show how a movie should be!

All by design. History is about to be erased again. Proof is no one can find relatives bast the early 1800s from the last one. The war of 1812 isn't what is presented by academia and historians. All made up. Every aspect of this reality is being downgraded and all by those who are and have always ruled here. The old babyonian priesthood. Reset underway now, can you see it?

Great movie, I had suspicions but ultimately could not guess the ending entirely. Geat fight scene. Sometimes it's great to have a wife who is no whimp. This woman was a tower of strength, all things considered. Loved this one. A bit thrilling, frightening, and a mystery all in one.

Once again Flick Vault, thank you for unlocking another little gem of a film to your loyal ‘Subbies’! As it has been said before, film making is so different today, and grassroots film making is been regrettably forgotten! I don’t find today’s films gripping and exciting as they once were! A real slow burner, but that is what I liked about it.
You can see how much effort has gone in every detail, the opening scene was really good, it sets the tone, all the actors were really good.
I do not understand the really low rating in IMDB , so unfair.

Had it halfway guessed, halfway through. Knew the sister was involved, and Seymour, but I thought that, Richard's father, was also part. For the peeps with a keen eye, check out the scene @1:23:00, right after the chair was thrown to the floor, and you can see the protective glass shield being removed, after the chair wasn't a threat, to the camera, anymore. As the chair hits the floor, for a 2nd. time, the glass slides, to the left.
Excellent picture, I have never heard of before👍😁!!!

If y’all liked that one, check out the ghost lady in the 1981 movie by Universal called Ghost Story. Peter Straub is the author of the novel which came out in 1979. He almost outdid Steven King in the Gothic genre. Indeed, the two collaborated on a novel later together called Black House.

Pretty good, especially for the period elements (I don't think I've ever seen the carriage blocks on a steep hill before). The Who-Dun-It element is somewhat obvious, though, and I think some bits and pieces must have been cut out along the line (the minor subplot with the to-be-married servants, for example). But well worth the hour and a half ;-)
