Thank you for the lessons. I have been walking on crutches for 65 years and now it's time for a wheelchair. This is a difficult time and I need to learn from you younger people. I wish you a good life
Andre is a 7 year old boy with paraplegia due to car accident, since age 3.. He was shown this video at PT, and has mastered the stairs, up & down. If there is an email that I can send you the videos online- or any other medium that I can send videos to, I'd love for you to see my little guy. Thanks for helping people like Andre to feel better about their life and to learn new things. Karen
Karen, that is really awesome to hear. My Video producer are getting in the back of swing of things again getting more videos up again soon. I would love to hear more about him and see his progress with the chair. Wetransfer.com is a good way to send videos that are to big for email. You can send the video to Isaycut@gmail.com I would love to see it.
That was Awesome!! I hit subscribe before I even knew it. I love it when people don't give up and continue to live a good fulfilling life! (I'm a recently graduated PT btw! When I visited the spinal cord injury rehabilitation clinic in my schooling, I was impressed by how much these people can achieve and also by their energy.)
This was amazing... I don't want to except that I'll never walk again. Always being told that I'm a complete t5 and their is no way I'll walk by doctors is depressing; so seeing u gives me hope till I can walk again
Brandon - I've been in a wheelchair (T6 complete) for over 24 yrs. now and I can tell you its a mind thing. Also, I'm now 56 and would have a hard time with the technique shown for going up stairs, but that's due to an old shoulder injury. Keep up the motivating videos, Martini, there's always someone who needs a boost. Good work.
Also, is there anything you want to vent about what it’s like? I’m working on a novel about a boy who wanted to be an athlete (and spoiler apart, it’s reveled at the end as an adult he did become one, all while STILL using a wheelchair), but now has to use a wheelchair. I’d like to get the accuracy to give proper representation. If you don’t want to say anything, that’s totally fine and I understand. But if you want to, please feel free.
This is what I'd say to @brandon wright 6 years ago. I hope you've already worked this out. Brandon, if you can't accept it you will never be happy. Play the hand you're dealt man, and move forward with your life. I had my accident in 1977 when I was 19. Now I'm 63 and have had a great life, travelled the world, had a beautiful wife, and a brilliant daughter. Not a lot of us 43 year veterans around. Past is past buddy, it's a new life now. Grab it with both hands and nail that sucker!!
I am homebound due to primary progressive multiple sclerosis. However, my right ft is working have great dorsiflexion. I do not want to spend money on van with ramp 60-80 thousands. So i want to do wheel chair to car, transfer in etc I need to know what brand wheelchair that i can dismantle to get into my vehicle. Arms super strong my weight 110 lbs. I have to get to appts.tired of having to ask others. No not ready for pit maneuvers lol. Thank you Michelle
wish I had balance like you, I watch over and over and amazed every time, I notice some negative comments. I agree not everyone has the same ability but think its great information for those that can. Keep up the videos your doing a great service to people in wheelchairs. Your awesome Dude!!!
The height of steps are usually 8". What really concerns me is that my front porch steps aren't very deep. In this video you can clearly see that the front lip of the step is under the vertical line of the wheel axles- so keeping on the step isn't that difficult. For shallower steps you really have to maintain your pull on the rail. I haven't tried this yet- scares the stuffings out of me!
bro I just found the perfect house to move in with the bathroom right next to the bedroom cool people and we were just like lamenting the fact that there are four steps keeping me from the kitchen this is awesome
We have a lot more type of stairs coming soon in future episodes. MaD Marty is the original author of STAIRS AND CHAIRS video from the 90s. Mad Martini welcome your challenge to steeper stairs.
Jeez I just don' t have the confidence to do that many stairs. I can get down the step to the front of my home and I'm able to "bump" up a curb and down it, in a "wheelie" But multiples. Whoa that seems rather daunting. You are a total fucking stud. I'm just a meh incomplete quad. Great video. Hope you do more in the future.
There was a guy at my old university who could rapidly go up stairs without even using the handrail, like up serious flights of stairs. Really quicklly too. It was wild to watch. The man was a semiprofessional wheelchair athlete with serious upper body strength though.
DONT DO STUNTS LIKE THIS.......FIRST U HAVE TO KNOW YOUR CENTER OF GRAVITY........SECONDILY YOU HAVE TO HAVE HEART......THIRDLY YOU HAVE TO HAVE A COMPANION AROUND......TO PICK YOU OFF THE GROUND BECAUSE THATS WHERE YOU GONNA END UP.
+dablock2k3 Um, no. Maybe it's not the case with you, but plenty of your fellow wheelchair users can climb back into our chairs after falling out unassisted. And in order to determine your center of gravity for this, it is necessary to try, though best to start on short flights of stairs so you don't fall far if it happens. When babies first start walking, they fall. A lot. But with practice, they walk. And it would be absurd to discourage babies from trying to walk just because they'll fall a few times. The same applies to climbing stairs in a wheelchair.
+Brian Sheehan nawwwwwwwwwwwwww.....what happens when you get 50?....I been in a chair since i was 29.......stunts and tricks don't exist ....we talking climbing stairs????. Getting up after a fall is the easiest part...You wanna get up some stairs????go buy a ramp....PORTABLE ...SAFE AND RELIABLE.
+dablock2k3 Portable ramps are good for a few stairs, but what about a whole flight of stairs? For this purpose, portable ramps are just dead weight. And since I don't own my own car (for financial reasons, so I can save a lot more money and travel more, as well as my living less than a mile from my job), the ramp isn't so portable after all. Perhaps when I am older (currently 31), I may need a portable ramp, but for now it's unnecessary.
Dam chair fits you snug. I been almost 9 years and don't have a clue yet on how or where to get a chair that fits me like a glove. Gotta find out where your located and do some researching lol , or rocking out.
How do you prevent getting closer and closer to the rail with each step? I always end up too close to the rails and eventually can't reach down to the push rims, because there isn't any space left.
I THINK QUICKIE REVOLUTION IS THE BEST CHAIR QUICKIE MADE...LIGHTWEIGHT AND CAN DO A LOT OF STUNTS.....DEALT WITH QUICKIE FOR 25YEARS MANUALLY....JUST DECIDED TO UP GRADE TO A POWER CHAIR WITH A LOT OF BELLS AND WHISTLES.....
That works good if the stairs are not that steep and the railing goes all the way up. Let's see the "Erik Kondo Method" rock some steep ones. By the way, that method takes quite a bit of core and a lot of paras won't be able to do it.
Hello WC Rock yeah! I am from Malaysia and I am still in the dilemma of para pot belly (protruding belly). I am paraplegia T3, so is there any tips you would recommend for diet and exercise since I am barely do sit up anymore.
Dont worry about all the crazy stunts he is doing....GET YOU MIND RIGHT MENTALLY...and you can acheive a lot of things that he may be doing....You dont wake up doing these stunts this is over time......NEVER SAY WHAT YOU CANT DO.
My chair is of old style. bulky I mean, not a sport type like yours. Does it work the same? cool video, I am new to the wheelchair, had my left leg removed. Thanks for the tips.
No I can't either, the gov says I am not disabled and my wife makes the money as a school teacher making 19,000.00 GROSS a year. I have one leg and still not disabled. Thanks for the info Joseph T
Just in case if there’s no railing, you can wheelie up 1 or maybe 2 stairs, and then wheelie going down stairs, plus you can always just transfer onto the floor/stairs and carry your chair with you while scooting up or down.
+PageMonster That's useful long-term, but when you're trying to do things in the moment, you simply can't get someone to wave a magic wand and poof........a ramp appears. Learning to navigate stairs in my wheelchair is one of the most important skills I've ever learned.
ANYONE WANTS TO BUY A 20,000 WHEELCHAIR THAT CLIMBS CURBS,,,ELEVATES...AND FLIES DOWN THE STREET AT A NICE SPEED???? QUICKIE QSM......THIS CHAIR IS NOT FOR ME.
Kate Griffith yep.....look on quickie wheelchair site...for the qsm,,,,,,its a great chair but its not for me.......i paid 23,000.00 for the chair...i got all the paperwork, manual receipts.....this chair was overpriced......well insurance paid 60 percent and i paid 40......i was like a kid with a new toy......know im back to earth.....im currently using a hoveround
Kate Griffith YOU FIRST HAVE TO DECIDE IF YOU WANT TO BE IN A MANUAL OR A POWER....ITS NO CHANGING YOUR MIND....LET MEDICARE BUY YOU A POWERCHAIR BECAUSE THEY REALLY ARE EXPENSIVE....YOU CAN BUY A NICE MANUAL CHAIR ON EBAY FOR LESS THEN 400.00
dude...stop fooling people with theses stunts.....u really gonna get someone hurt. you weigh 128 pounds....u can basically do alot in a chair....THE AVERAGE PERSON IN A WHEELCHAIR IS OVER WEIGHT......AND PULLING DEAD WEIGHT. THANKS FOR THE INSPIRATION THOUGH
dablock2k3 Since when are most people in wheelchairs overweight??? Perhaps in your experience but not much in mine. I do see overweight people in wheelchairs but not often and I'm in a major city. I get out and about quite a bit in my chair and I'm only 130 Lbs., as does my elderly Mother & she's 155 Lbs.
Thank you for the lessons. I have been walking on crutches for 65 years and now it's time for a wheelchair. This is a difficult time and I need to learn from you younger people. I wish you a good life

Awesome, I'm gonna get an active wheelchair soon. Can't wait to get to doing this. I always had a suspicion this could be done
That was Awesome!! I hit subscribe before I even knew it. I love it when people don't give up and continue to live a good fulfilling life! (I'm a recently graduated PT btw! Just because you can't walk doesn't mean you cant be a badass like this guy.
this needs more attention
Thank you for sharing all your knowledge . This is so important so others can become more independent.
I am homebound due to primary progressive multiple sclerosis. However, my right ft is working have great dorsiflexion. I do not want to spend money on van with ramp

Thanks for the video. I've been having trouble with this but your method is awesome.
Now that is great! I've gone down steps in my chair a few times but I've not tried going up. But I'm still learning. Thanks for the tip.
I totally agree, that what I mean by steeper stairs. I have vids of my methods which make steep/shallow stair no problem, even easy.
wish I had balance like you, I watch over and over and amazed every time, I notice some negative comments. I agree not everyone has the same ability but think its great information for those that can. Keep up the videos your doing a great service to people in wheelchairs. Your awesome Dude!!!
U r awesome men keep up the great work thanks for the video
Thank you so much! Please pass on the video.
That is awesome. Well done sir.
You have done an excellent job, keep up the great work of getting around!!
Damn good🤗 You make big difference my friend🙌🏻

You can always wear a helmet, other protective gear, and even have someone spotting you when you’re first learning.
If only my building would put rails on the stairs, I might have a hope.
This is awesome! I’m tempted to take the anti-tilts off my chair to try this!
I love you man. I share your drive. Cheers from Australia
bro I just found the perfect house to move in with the bathroom right next to the bedroom cool people and we were just like lamenting the fact that there are four steps keeping me from the kitchen this is awesome
So helpful bro!! You rock!! I appreciate you!!
awesome man, great going up steps

How did he do it?
How cool :) I need to learn how to do that.. I have stairs in some of the buildings on my college campus and in my parents house!
DONT DO STUNTS LIKE THIS.......FIRST U HAVE TO KNOW YOUR CENTER OF GRAVITY........SECONDILY YOU HAVE TO HAVE HEART......THIRDLY YOU HAVE TO HAVE A COMPANION AROUND......TO PICK YOU OFF THE GROUND BECAUSE THATS WHERE YOU GONNA END UP.

stay young and healthy
I learned how to do this for fire safety reasons.
hell yeah, own it !
New Subbie Here!!!
So glad I found you!
Great Channel!
Thanks! We are going to shoot another show soon about getting to a pick up truck. Are you interested in being on the show?
No Problem. Please forward this channel to all your people.
Thanks Marty
tahnks bra! been wanting to do this.
Dam chair fits you snug. I been almost 9 years and don't have a clue yet on how or where to get a chair that fits me like a glove. Gotta find out where your located and do some researching lol , or rocking out.
QUICKIE......OR SUNRISE MEDICAL HAS THE BEST CHAIRS FOR ACTIVE PEOPLE
+dablock2k3 I have owned 3 Quickies and STRONGLY agree with you! And Sunrise Medical is one of the best suppliers!
How do you prevent getting closer and closer to the rail with each step? I always end up too close to the rails and eventually can't reach down to the push rims, because there isn't any space left.
very nice...

Where is the STAIRS AND CHAIRS video at?

Hey what brand of chair is that?
That looks like a Ti-Lite.
Dont worry about all the crazy stunts he is doing....GET YOU MIND RIGHT MENTALLY...and you can acheive a lot of things that he may be doing....You dont wake up doing these stunts this is over time......NEVER SAY WHAT YOU CANT DO.
+dablock2k3 you're an inspiring man! THANKS!
That. was. sweet. What kind of chair is that? GTi?
My chair is of old style. bulky I mean, not a sport type like yours. Does it work the same? cool video, I am new to the wheelchair, had my left leg removed. Thanks for the tips.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO YOU NEED A LIGHTWEIGHT CHAIR........PERIOD. TAKE ALL THAT METAL TO A SCRAP YARD
+dablock2k3 Most Disabled people can't afford expensive wheelchairs.
No I can't either, the gov says I am not disabled and my wife makes the money as a school teacher making 19,000.00 GROSS a year. I have one leg and still not disabled. Thanks for the info Joseph T
The music is quite harsh to my ears but other than that, great vid ty
So where's the 'holding someone's hand' video?! Would be useful for when there's no railing
Just in case if there’s no railing, you can wheelie up 1 or maybe 2 stairs, and then wheelie going down stairs, plus you can always just transfer onto the floor/stairs and carry your chair with you while scooting up or down.
looks like it would require quite a bit of core and arm strength, coming from someone in a wheelchair since i was born
Yes with special one way wheel locks you can do it. Also watch my stretching video and do that every morning.
Wheelchairs Rock out of curiosity what's your level
theft impeded by man in wheelchair-Hombre en silla de ruedas impide asalto
You are awesome! I think it's great to find ingenious ways to navigate a wheel chair.
I say fellow--you did not lose use of your mind--"did-ja"! Bet you scary some to death, Keep-on. Thanks
Nice video! Can we post this video on our site at www.karmanhealthcare.com?
hot wheels
Hey what is your email address for more tips on wheelchair user
Lobby for more ramps and kerb cuts instead. Why pander to the unthinking non-disabled people?
+PageMonster That's useful long-term, but when you're trying to do things in the moment, you simply can't get someone to wave a magic wand and poof........a ramp appears. Learning to navigate stairs in my wheelchair is one of the most important skills I've ever learned.

Nancy Cowens Totes. I'm 7 stone... wheeling keeps you fit!
oh, man, if you overweight you have to use electrical wheelchair. Mad Martin gives best solutions for active manual wheelchair with rigid frame.
Александр Пономарев Mad Martini? Just checking it out... thanks for the tip !
