  • Tadmor is an abandoned Ghost Town that was very important for transportation in the 1800's, it had canals, railroads and that type of stuff that went through there. Tadmor goes through the original National Road route north of Dayton, Ohio and very close to Vandalia, Ohio. But to the location of Tadmor on the Great Miami River, the flooding became too much and when the 1913 flood hit, it was curtains for Tadmor as a town for people to live in and do business and the railroad was moved west to higher ground.

There are markers in my old hometown of Middletown that indicate the depth of the water from the 1913 flood. The entire downtown area was covered up to the second stories of homes and businesses. My grandmother's basement in the early 1970s still had dried mud in the floor joists in her basement. Before I moved away we were able to recover a very well preserved time capsule from the original Carnegie Library which was built only two years before the flood. The contents are on display in the Middletown Library. Good ol' Armco steel provided the metal box for the capsule. The contents are in pristine condition.

I walked those woods as a kid back in the mid 70s. Town was totally different. Went to Helke Elementary and we cut thru the cornfield to get there. I buried my red tabby cat named "princess" in Taylorsville Park.

I searched your page and may have missed it but have you visited the Wright Brother's hydroplane test area on the left bank of the Great Miami off Marina Drive in West Carrollton? I had no idea the Wright Brother's even built hydroplanes.

Thanks for the video. I didn't know that we have a ghost town within Montgomery County. The long-forgotten town of Tadmor.

Glad to see these kind of "unsung" Ohio historical areas brought to wider audiences through your videos. Well done& greetings from Wood county.

Thank you for sharing this informative historic video. I wonder what happened to the cemetery?

Ohio seems to be THE most 'haunted' state in the US, besides having many abandoned towns like this one.

Lesourdville Lake Park, the abandoned amusement park is only about 30 minutes from where he's at.

The New Philadelphia n Dover area in Tuscarawas county was also greatly effected by the 1913 flood

This is a Ghost Town that exists in Montgomery County, Ohio which is in the same county as Dayton. Please share and watch and check out the links that I posted to this forgotten but important piece of Ohio history. This was on the Miami-Erie Canal
