I love seeing how you colored this adorable book . You are very creative and the pictures are lovely. I also only use pencils. I have many different sets and find that they all have a different texture on the page. Also l usually do not do backgrounds. I use only one set per book because I like a cohesive look in my books. My favorite pencils are the polychromos and the Derwent procolors.

@@ColouringKidthanks for your response. I will share with you that another reason I have for using one pencil set per book is staying with the color pallet expressed within that set. Some emphasize strong colors others are soft or more like the colors in nature . Also if l do a warm pallet on page l will go cool or more neutral on the next page. Sorry to be so long winded but I love this stuff.

Yvonne, I only actually got the gelly roll glaze own recently, in this book I used a Uniball Silver Glitter Gel pen - this was before I had my clear glitter star dust gelly roll pen, they are basically the same thing, and a wink of Stella brush pen. When you start a page how do you pick the colors for the picture. I have a problem with picking what colors to use for a page. Do you have any advice for picking colors. Thank you for your advice.
Hi Michelle, thanks for your question. Usually, I start a page because something on that pages jumps out and I know what I want to colour it in with, that's what gives me the inspiration. Picking colours is something that is different for everyone - I do use colour palettes sometimes, either with books or a website called "Design Seeds". I have a video called "Reference Books/Tools I use for Inspiration and Colour Palettes!" which might help? If you have any other questions, please let me know :)
Hi Isabel, I've never had a problem with them, but I know depending on the colours and intensity of the pastel, some people choose to spray fixative on their pages - if you decide to do this, make sure to spray it before putting down coloured pencil or other mediums, always to do it straight after pastel! Hope this helps! :)

Less intimidating.... And, i quite like your idea of trying out backgrounds and colour schemes as test pages in other books first. Which books did you use for that? Which do you recommend that have similar paper quality? Unfortunately the dutch version of Ivy is out of print, i so wish i could get a copy of that one... Thanks in advance! Do you have plans to finish another complete book? At the moment i am enjoying 'a nice little town 5', some Selina Fenech and Jade Summer books and Intricate Ink by Tim Jeffs.
Ilana, I have second copies of Magical Jungle, Enchanted Forest and Romantic Country 2 and I use my old copies for testing out different methods, colour palettes and supplies - I find these really useful as I can compare the paper quality to my other books and I actually find that most of my papers are quite similar. I would say books like Johanna Basfords have similar paper to any of the Rita Berman books or any of the English editions of books that I find in my local bookstores. I have plans to finish a number of books someday: World of Flowers by Johanna Basford, Fantastic Zoo by Kameichidou, The Flower Year by Leila Duly, the most recent Rita Berman colouring book and a few more! I have no idea when one or all of them will be complete, but it is nice setting myself goals to complete a number of different books with different styles! Thank you for asking me these questions and for your lovely comment! :)
Congratulations on your wonderful accomplishment. I don't put away my treasures either. . Could you please just count to six or seven on each page? It going a little too fast. People don't mind part 1 part 2. You could show the pencils too. Everyone's always looking for a great pencil.. And stay safe. Don't talk about any personal details of your life.

I've started doing the back cover. Less intimidating.... And, i quite like your idea of trying out backgrounds and colour schemes as test pages in other books first. Which books did you use for that? Which do you recommend that have similar paper quality? Unfortunately the dutch version of Ivy is out of print, i so wish i could get a copy of that one... Thanks in advance!

At the moment i am enjoying 'a nice little town 5', some Selina Fenech and Jade Summer books and Intricate Ink by Tim Jeffs.
Ilana, I have second copies of Magical Jungle, Enchanted Forest and Romantic Country 2 and I use my old copies for testing out different methods, colour palettes and supplies - I find these really useful as I can compare the paper quality to my other books and I actually find that most of my papers are quite similar. I would say books like Johanna Basfords have similar paper to any of the Rita Berman books or any of the English editions of books that I find in my local bookstores.
I have plans to finish a number of books someday: World of Flowers by Johanna Basford, Fantastic Zoo by Kameichidou, The Flower Year by Leila Duly, the most recent Rita Berman colouring book and a few more! I have no idea when one or all of them will be complete, but it is nice setting myself goals to complete a number of different books with different styles!

Congratulations on your wonderful accomplishment. I don't put away my treasures either. . Could you please just count to six or seven on each page? It going a little too fast. People don't mind part 1 part 2. You could show the pencils too. Everyone's always looking for a great pencil.. And stay safe. Don't talk about any personal details of your life.

did you do them in order? from first to last or just randomly?
I did them randomly and did whichever picture I was drawn to, but when I was getting closer to finishing, I tried to do some of the less interesting ones so that I finished with pictures that I really liked - thanks for watching! 😊
