Question Time: Malema's Indian comments, 02 August 2017

  • The comments made by Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema when celebrating the party's fourth Anniversary in Durban have caused a stir. Malema waged a scathing attack on the Indian community for their treatment of black workers. EFF says it is fully behind its Commander-In-Chief's comments, and would
    never apologise for condemning oppression. The remarks have attracted a lot of interest, given sporadic incidents of racial tensions and attacks in some parts of the country. Malema made some controversial comments about the Indian community in 2011, but later apologised. He was the leader of the ANC Youth League at the time. Meanwhile, the South African Minority Rights Equality Movement has laid criminal charges against the EFF leader.

    Simple fact is africa is for africa. Africans meaning u have to be black, in every continent the natives are the ones on top well except for America. Go to Europe who's on top, go Asia who's on top? So y should foreigners be on top in Africa n ill treating them? If they are not careful n keep up this attitude they il find themselves in a similar situation that Idi Amin carried out, I'm just saying.
    South Africa's a volatile volcano waiting to erupt ferociously because the underlying issues weren't addressed when they gained independence n the natives are becoming increasingly agitated by the inequalities they have to endure everyday.

    What juju said was only the truth, just do your own research and you will get the truth. in KZN, cleaning companies are owned by Indians and blacks are the workers, the majority of cleaners receive R1000 after two weeks of working meaning that they earn a monthly salary of just R2000 per month. secondly, it is an undeniable truth that Indian people dominate in Durban suburbs such as umhlanga, La lucia etc, and it is our fellow black Africans that work in those suburbs as domestic workers and are being paid peanuts. lastly, i find it annoying that there are people that condemn Malema's comment about Indians yet they are being bias by misquoting the actual comment. Juju's comment was not criticizing any fellow Indian, but it was meant precisely to all Indians who are ill-treating our fellow black African who work as domestic workers.

    • @anonymousanonymous2319
      @anonymousanonymous2319 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is that really the fault of the indians? Who sets the law and political order? The government who are BLACK not indian.
      Also Indians make up around 2% of the total population of South Africa, black South africans make up around 80% of the total population as well as the government so if indians are dominating then that's an issue on their side not the indians side. Indians are just trying to survive. The government needs to focus on educating black people.
      Yes black people can condemn racist whites and indians. Meanwhile indians can condemn racist BEE policies and racism towards them eg the durban riots 1949

Lesson here for South African Indians.However, I don’t support violence against them or kicking them out like Idi Amin did. We need dialogue and education and there are many issues that Indians have brought with them culturally from India which need to change so that they can fit in with a new South Africa. Number 1 the cast system is a form of racism unacceptable in Mzansi. Number 2 Indian only communities should be banned and they should integrate. Number 3 Nepotism, so no businesses should operate with only Indians Number 4 marrying your sisters and cousins is incest should be banned. But ultimately we should ALL just get along.

    Have no idea why people are catching feelings cause if I recall correctly Malema did say, "If the shoe fits, then wear it". It's not all Indians who are implicated to be mistreating Africans they employ but those who are just need to stop it. It's simple.

    What saddens me is that all indians are being painted the same when it comes to domestic workers I have a domestic worker who lives out and I pay her R3000 for 8 days a month and she is part of my family. My kids would rather be with her than me. We love her and she brings her kids over during the saturdays she works. please dont paint us all with the same brush.

      anjeli Naidoo. Unfortunately the Indian comunity has an unhealthy attitude towards black people. The work place abuse. Nefarious business activities. Acting clanish, residential arrears and in business dealings. But the major problem lies with us black people, we never act selfishly in business or daily dealings. We should only buy black and deal with black in business. Basically put ourselves first and think only for our own benefit.

    • @anjelinaidoo5321
      @anjelinaidoo5321 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mbulelo Zulu, what happens if we all thought the way you do. I could say the same for the attitude of blacks towards indians....keep to our own? would that assist the cause or bring on more conflict? Are we not at a deadlock in this instance?.

    I am not an EFF supporter but this guy is just being ridiculous, He failed to focus on the issue at hand and went for insults. the show was not about Dali Mpofu and what he has done in the past the show was about indian people who feel offended when it is said some indian people abuse their domestics, He argues that its wrong to say they are worse then afrikaaners because it is generalization and Afrikaaners are worse which is in itself generalizing. I have lived and studied in Durban UKZN westville campus and rented in indian dominated area of reservior hills I know how racist some indian people are and how badly they treat their employees, ive experienced it when working in an indian owned franchise restuarant. moreoever you can talk about crime and classify that majority if people who do it are african no african would feel offended and white people everyday in SA are told about White monopoly capital no white person goes to HRCSA so why do indians feel aggrieved when the same is said about them

    Just to say this moderator and his program is shamelessly biased. He gave the remote guest no time to speak, no opportunity to reply and he allowed that guest's questions and challenges to go unanswered. The even cut the mans sound feed because they did not like what he was saying. The person in studio was talking a lot of bollocks and should have been challenged but the moderator protected him. Dont think I have taken sides in this - I am pointing out that the program has taken sides and thus has deprived us of listening to the arguments, just dished out propaganda.

    However, the worst abuse of domestics that I have witnessed, is black on black. The worst worst is blacks to Zimbabweans. This is a fact. The Indian issue is just highlighted, I dont know why, but it seems like one of Julius tactics as we know he does. I can take him to black people who are working for black eole and jell have a shock of his life if he has not seen it uet,which I highly doubt.
