    Lord Save my soul!!! Dave is and has always been and always will be my all time favorite musician, entertainer and singer. He and his music has truly held my heart and soul captive since the first time I heard him sing ....many moons ago. God Bless you Dave for the joy you have given me and so many others over the years

    Dave is a ledgend
    Produced a lot of shakin stevens early stuff.
    Was with rockpile.
    And helped the straycats to become what they are.

    Holy doodle! Pull your claws in, people! This is a Canadian comedy sketch show, SCTV. It's a hoot to see Dave Edmunds doing one of his hits on here. He's so great. So, satire, humour, yeah?

    The sketch was mocking Red baiting, which makes it even more topical now than when it was made. Also, it rocks. Happy 77th Dave!

    This brings back great memories... and they recorded it live? Or it seems live- its close to the album version but you can tell the vocals seem live

    • @IanGee-007
      @IanGee-007 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's miming over the original recording.

    • @johnlane2010
      @johnlane2010 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@IanGee-007 listen to 1:49 on this video. his phrasing is subtly different than on the studio recording. I stand by my original comment, i believe the vocals are live here. Also when his mouth moves slightly away from the mic you can tell.

    • @IanGee-007
      @IanGee-007 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@johnlane2010 There are no amps or leads, so obviously the instruments are not being played live. In film and television it is common practice to record the backing track and visuals separately to reduce the chances of errors. It's possible that the vocals were recorded at the time of filming, but as everything else in this clip is so fake, I doubt it.

    Bruce Springsteen i believe wrote this tune

    • @thetrevorosborne

      certainly did

    • @whitedevilpellingra7803
      @whitedevilpellingra7803 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wrong. Other way around, as per Bruce. So nyah!!

    • @kindnessfirst9670
      @kindnessfirst9670 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@whitedevilpellingra7803 Bruce wrote and recorded it in 1979 for his 1980 album The River but it ended up one of the 30 songs he recorded but left off the album. He decided to give it to Dave Edmunds after seeing one of Dave's shows in New Jersey and Dave released his version in 1982. Bruce eventually released his original 1979 recording of it in 2015. Bruce did that sort of thing often back then. For example: Because the Night and Fire from 1978.

      Bruce Springsteen... A Communist?!?
      Do you know how much MONEY that "Commie" has generated over the last 50 years for band members, roadies, promoters, riggers, truck drivers, merchandisers, etc.?!?!?
      A lot, pal. A LOT!!! 🇺🇲

      So if a guy from France made a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, you would say it's French. No it's a typical American sandwich made by a guy from France. This is typical American Rock and roll played by a guy from Wales.

    • @kindnessfirst9670
      @kindnessfirst9670 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Springsteen wrote it as a late 1950s Chuck Berry type song. So I would think that makes it an American type music- like most of Dave Edmunds recordings. Dave even sings with an American accent (like most rock and rollers from his period).
