Well, only one performance can win and some years there are more than one worthy candidate. I don’t care much about who wins, I just enjoy watching good performances. Watch Stone, Sarandon and Shue from that year, and you will see three very strong performances.

I do think her performance in CASINO is one of the best by an actress, ever. Part of that is due to the script, of course....she has a ton of amazing scenes : ) Not everyone could pull them off like she did, though.

No, neither she got nominated for Golden Globe nor Oscar for Basis Instinct, she should have got the Best Female on both like a lot of people said cause she was the only actress could play that role so perfect in Basic Instinct. But she got the awarded from MTV Music Award for Best Female Performance and Most Desirable Female awards for Basic in 1993.

I totally agree. It is sad that she doesn't get hired or cast by a lot of producers or directors because her attitude on the set., she is well known being difficult to work with in Hollywood. Again, there are a lot of actresses in Hollywood, but most of them would not be rated as a movie star like Sharon Stone. She should have won the Oscar by playing Catherine Tremell in Basic Instincts.

Derek Rosdahl She did a great job, but so did Susan Sarandon. I can’t argue with her winning. Part of why she won probably had to do with the fact that it was her fifth time being nominated though. If Sarandon had won an Oscar previously, Stone may very well have won.
Langdon Alger no way I love stone but Sarandon was very good almost understated and after playing sexy roles for years to then play a nun nailed it for her, it was a great transformation
