Hey I think all the videos you do are a big help I'm heading into my second month of running my 1st server and all your video helped me add the right amount of plugins. I have players tht have return to the server again after the wipe. So thank you for all you help and I look forward to seeing more of your tutorials.
8:59 - Unfortunately, the recent Rust update that sets all empty servers to "hidden" by default makes it basically impossible to find any new "regulars". Prior to that update, I had 3-4 regulars (though who the regulars were changed every update), and a few dozen people who at least checked out the server briefly. Since the update, I have had ZERO players (aside from myself) join my server.
@@srtbull We recently switched from PVE to PVP, we know we will have to regrow all over again, losing 70-100 ea weekly wipe down to 20 is hard to see. I have faith though and working my guts out to promote it. So is this still the case regarding 'hidden' by default ? (I now keep myself on the server so its not zero) cheers
I came to this video because I started a server mainly for me and my friend to have fun we were all gonna solo and play like normal players but none is joining and me and my friends are getting bored so thanks for the tips and I hope they help

There was a problem brought to the forefront during this update. There is a shortcoming on Facepunch’s side. They are aware of the problem and working on a solution.

I host a DayZ Xbox server and now a rust PC server, I strive to make sure people don't have a bad experience with admins like I seem to have in litterly every server I join. I'm tired of bad admins.
Yes I recognize the story after 18 minutes in the video. It happened once that someone dropped more than 250 airdrops within 1 minute. The server was crashing. I fired him :)
What kind of server do you think people will enjoy? I really want to have a normal vanilla server but there is no reason for other people to join as it is just any old server. Any tips?

Hi, i built server and decided weekly wipe but i have question about wipe schedule, after wipe 4-5 people comes and play for 2 hours, after 2 hours server goes empty and they never come back and peope don't come in the following days , should i wipe again without waiting for the wipe date or should I keep wait the wipe date.
hey if i got two stick on long and one short what do i got. atl atl the weapon of the people of atlas that took over rome and then immediately lost within two generations to the bow. but it would be good for the beaches of rust as it has a lot of version with arrow sized ones as well as spears.
i bought a rust server on gamerserver kings and my friends cant get onto my server by searching they only see it under friends lobbies? any idea on how to fix
This is a known issue because of the huge influx of players over that last 6 weeks. I know it’s something being worked on. But for now just get them to add your server to favs. It’ll be easier.
Some very populated servers wipe every week. It’s just a personal choice by the owner of the server. You could technically wipe every day if you wanted to.
So you mentioned website... Is there any website builders you recommend me using? Because I have seen certain websites such as Stevious, RustyRemains which you need to sign in through steam to access the website therefor you can connect via that website or whatever. Thanks in advance!
There is a really great template on GitHub. But any website will work. You just need a landing page where you can give potential players as much information as they can get. Server features, Discord links, email addresses etc.

Very helpful video : ) When found out your channel and Rust Admin Academy videos I already had server with plugins and stuff that used to configure and learn "how to" by myself but still some videos are useful and still can learn something new and good. Sadly host server with orientation Bulgaria as country when from example max 100% only 50% of the people play Rust... Then 25% from the people are new random players that join and they do not know where the f*ck they landed and what they should do... or they know but with 10-200h max at all they soon or later quit... Other 25% are good players that join and know how to play, pvp, etc... but this sh*t logic "I wont play cuz there are no players, I want to see 10-20 people and then will join" is awful cuz how there will be 10-20 people if everyone says this? After all that bad cycle repeating with the server still have hope left and some of your tips that I learned here are great : )
It is VERY UNFORTUNATE that a KID can TROLL a server admin to that level that the server dies. It is very PROBLEMATIC to defend yourself against RANDOM ACCUSATIONS that you CAN't defend yourself from. I had such experience in RUST not as ADMIN but as a MODERATOR. I was accused to have said to a kid in the last WIPE that "HE CAN GO DIE"! I got banned from the moderator's group so fast that I haven't even had the time to REPLY to those accusations. I haven't EVER sad that to another player EVER, it's not my style, we are playing games, I'm 43 years old and even IF I could say that we are playing RUST not Tetris so ..., but those who RULE banned me without reply. I left the server then because after MONTHS of PROVEN good player attitude focused on helping new players and NOOBs I got banned thanks to CRAFTED WOLF PACK FAKE NEWS and a KID blathering about my saying shit! This is the RUST that I know at MODERATION/ADMIN level and it is VERY VERY SAD because others that were only PLAYING and USING the server have LOST somebody who is willing to help 14 hours a day and that was there to PLAY not to WASTE their time. If the Rust community will listen only to KIDS the industry will become a DESERT because some investment must be granted to generate revenue to be able to sustain the server and the WILL of the OWNER of the servers.
The sad part about this is it goes to show what happens when people feel they have just the slightest amount of power. It goes straight to their hand and makes them make bad choices. It can be quite frustrating especially for rookie owners that don’t know better yet. Rust is toxic. Expect toxicity. But at the end of the day, you’d like to think there would still be a level of fairness.
I have had my server change from Time to time trying doffrent things since April, pop went up and down, the max I had was about 28. I have 60 on discord but seems most don’t play anymore. I’m really not sure what to do

There are plugins to prevent abuse. But realistically if you can’t trust your admin, they shouldn’t have the abilities or responsibilities that go with it.
You could just use AdvertMessages to display the message in chat then DiscordGroup to allow the player to have access to a kit that has 300 scrap in it.
Avoiding admin abuse and accusations of it is kind of impossible? Regardless of whether you do it or not, once people learn the admin of a server plays on the server they either dont join or they leave because they just assume all admins will eventually abuse their powers. Please do a vid on how to play and not make it obvious you're the admin. Can i make another character just for doing admin stuff and keep my main for playing? Do i need to buy the game again and have multiple steam accounts on my pc? I also do not want to have to pay someone to admin my own server that I would already be paying to have hosted. I can tell people the only admin permissions I have are ban, kick, and mute but will they take my word for it? I wouldnt.
There are many different ways of accomplishing this. First is obviously using restraint and not using any of your abilities. Secondly, you could use a range of plugins to be ‘on shift’ and ‘off shift’, automatically gaining/losing the perms that would make you an admin. 3rd option, use family sharing on your steam account, essentially creating another steam account. No extra cost.

@@srtbull The first 100 hours for me were STRESSING AS HELL, I got the TOP 3 SCORE for SUICIDES and KILLED LOOL :). I was SO BAD that I was thinking to quit, but then I found a 5x server that made me things EASIER, and the COMM was GREAT there until some players that are NEGATIVE WOLF PACKted the DISCORD trolling against me and I leave the server and the GAME for months. Now I'm back but I see and FEEL that Rust gave me a lot in terms of PSYCHOLOGY of ACCEPTING to lose and accept that a KID is better than you with an IT career LOOL :) I'm interested in investing myself in RUST because it is WORTH A LOT in a matter of EDUTAINMENT of those who are ABLE to understand REAL LIFE facts that in some minor parts can be tested and felt in RUST. For example a couple of months BACK my family house got FIRE and I accepted in a RUST WAY the happening. In RUST I got MANY HOUSES "BURNED" DOWN and that experience HELPED ME A LOT regarding the INJUSTICE that I live, Rust made me STRONGER a playground where to test in a private and secure way your DEEPEST FEELINGS and FEARS to be able to LEARN FROM ALL THAT and apply the same in real life. Rust is a GREAT psychological TOOL and I think it could be used even for HEALING some kinds of ANXIETY, motivational or social aspects, deficits, and A LOT MORE. Yeah, Rust is TOXIC as HELL but after all, that, once you quit our game to go to sleep you haven't played just a game, you lived a real EXPERIENCE that will in a way or another SIGN your life for the future, as for me.

Waste of time and money having a server, sometimes I think these hosting companies are a scam. RUSTYRECOIL has been up for almost 3 years never admin abuse, fast server I try to keep at least one player in and sorry but this BS isn't worth the hours on my Computer. I put so much money in plugins maps ect. and I highly advise not buying any maps as cheap servers cant run them you will need a higher server to run custom maps. Plugins you are so limited to as the suck up RAM sure low pop lots of plugins but as the players join your server will crash and burn. If you are not paying the higher prices the server is just meant for a vanilla server. SRT Bull is awesome and I followed him from day one of My rust server. I will continue with my server RUSTYRECOIL will remain up for a while, I use it for base build and electrical test. If players join its ok I keep a low profile.
Adventureland pve server has heavy admin abuse. Dude flies to monuments, sells rockets for cars for some weird reason.. has unlimited admin shop stock for fertilizer, but nerfed it because one donator who has a 100 horse farm said it was too OP... As if the rest of the learners on the server were abusing it so hard.. i had 5 horses. Was kinda enjoying the PvE, dying at monuments, learning the game in its simplest form . Hope dudes server died.
If you're looking for a new home, we're getting lonely at Rusty & Chill Insane amount of work has one into creating unique PVE content. Always something to do and something to shoot at. No admin drama. Barely get time to play with the amount of labor going into creating a unique and action packed environment.

Sign up on Rist server listing sites and post on the rustserver subreddit, helped me alot!

Running a server is fun, but since they made empty servers hidden by default it’s a lot harder to find new players.

It may take up to 24 hours for it to show up correctly.
gameserver kings have amazing support, click the chat bubble bottom right and ask them, they will help u out within 5 minutes 24/7

Wix doesn’t allow php. You’ll need a php host for the website template from GitHub.

Stay positive. If you keep grinding, you’ll get to where you want to be. It gets frustrating at times. Trust me. I’ve been there.

@@srtbull The first 100 hours for me were STRESSING AS HELL, I got the TOP 3 SCORE for SUICIDES and KILLED LOOL :).
I was SO BAD that I was thinking to quit, but then I found a 5x server that made me things EASIER, and the COMM was GREAT there until some players that are NEGATIVE WOLF PACKted the DISCORD trolling against me and I leave the server and the GAME for months.
Now I'm back but I see and FEEL that Rust gave me a lot in terms of PSYCHOLOGY of ACCEPTING to lose and accept that a KID is better than you with an IT career LOOL :)
I'm interested in investing myself in RUST because it is WORTH A LOT in a matter of EDUTAINMENT of those who are ABLE to understand REAL LIFE facts that in some minor parts can be tested and felt in RUST.
For example a couple of months BACK my family house got FIRE and I accepted in a RUST WAY the happening.
In RUST I got MANY HOUSES "BURNED" DOWN and that experience HELPED ME A LOT regarding the INJUSTICE that I live, Rust made me STRONGER a playground where to test in a private and secure way your DEEPEST FEELINGS and FEARS to be able to LEARN FROM ALL THAT and apply the same in real life.
Rust is a GREAT psychological TOOL and I think it could be used even for HEALING some kinds of ANXIETY, motivational or social aspects, deficits, and A LOT MORE.
Yeah, Rust is TOXIC as HELL but after all, that, once you quit our game to go to sleep you haven't played just a game, you lived a real EXPERIENCE that will in a way or another SIGN your life for the future, as for me.

Now imagine ME active 14/16 hours a day, writing more than 50 words a minute in a chat with noobs and people that are asking things on a RUST server, that was ME on that 5x server and that will be on my server/s, my only problem is, as usual people.
My words are not UNDERSTANDABLE or ACCEPTABLE always for everybody, so with RUST I'll have to deal with KIDS, but I must TRY it out :).

There is no hard and fast rule to guarantee server growth.

Waste of time and money having a server, sometimes I think these hosting companies are a scam. RUSTYRECOIL has been up for almost 3 years never admin abuse, fast server I try to keep at least one player in and sorry but this BS isn't worth the hours on my Computer. I put so much money in plugins maps ect. and I highly advise not buying any maps as cheap servers cant run them you will need a higher server to run custom maps. Plugins you are so limited to as the suck up RAM sure low pop lots of plugins but as the players join your server will crash and burn. If you are not paying the higher prices the server is just meant for a vanilla server. SRT Bull is awesome and I followed him from day one of My rust server. I will continue with my server RUSTYRECOIL will remain up for a while, I use it for base build and electrical test. If players join its ok I keep a low profile.
Adventureland pve server has heavy admin abuse. Dude flies to monuments, sells rockets for cars for some weird reason.. has unlimited admin shop stock for fertilizer, but nerfed it because one donator who has a 100 horse farm said it was too OP... As if the rest of the learners on the server were abusing it so hard.. i had 5 horses.
Was kinda enjoying the PvE, dying at monuments, learning the game in its simplest form . Hope dudes server died.

Insane amount of work has one into creating unique PVE content. Always something to do and something to shoot at.
No admin drama. Barely get time to play with the amount of labor going into creating a unique and action packed environment.
