Thats story is awesome that Brent Mason said that Andy.. Must be an awesome feeling to meet your hero and hear that. That's probably etched permanently in your memory and replay that moment everyday.

I think it’s definitely still good for new companies. I think we are well up to date on the big brand names. :) cool video guys! Cheers

I think an overview of a new range of guitars is much more interesting than looking at the guitars online.

I would think that just the exposure of being at NAMM to advertise your new product would be worth it alone. Sweetwater and other publications all over the internet then go on to promote all of the NAMM products. .

I think NAMM is relevant! I know it's difficult to deal with the logistics, but it's great. I'm not on the level of a lot of the people there but it's wonderful to meet and greet. NAMM opens eyes and well as hearts. It fosters good musicianship for you can see it up close and personal. It can be crazy, but where can you see and hear all things that are there, in one place. I've enjoyed my time there immensely, talk to people that I've never thought I get a chance to talk to, etc. You can get a tip from Frank Gambale, or Steve Lukather, or just say hello. We live in a society where we have many, many ways to communicate, but communication is at a low. NAMM is where we can chat with icons, Like Josh Smith, Kirk Fletcher, Eric Gales, etc, but you can also talk with up and comers like, Tom Ibarra, or Brandon "Taz" Niederauer. My 2 cents.

Three AWESOME musicians. I've wanted to go to NAMM (winter) for years and this was going to be the first year that I went (I decided that last year during NAMM). I would go to see cool new gear and to hopefully meet some of the great musicians I follow on TH-cam (such as the three in this video) and such as well as to go to as many gigs/shows as possible.

I agree about the amount of “dripfeed” footage that keeps coming. I mean, the Suhr videos of Big Wreck and Ian Thronley from NAMM are classic. Thank god that happened.

I still watch those videos to this day, and I was in the dang audience! Hahaha

Right on, NAMM gets in touch with us every year but the prices for really small guys like us is totally not doable for the returns, in saying that I still want to go one day but It's a long way from New Zealand!

Hey guys, I'm an artist and also the guy that handles our NAMM logistics for GHS Strings as well. Can totally confirm 100% everything that Fluff has mentioned. It's incredibly bloated and overpriced. Would love to see NAMM retool this to capitalize more on the artist benefits over still clinging to the model that has the companies assume the total cost.

Hey Jonathon, thanks for chiming in dude! yeah its a real predicament ya know? "we" the artists and fans all really really WANT NAMM, but there has to be some restructuring or its not gonna be a pretty demise.

Great to get more insight from your side of the booth!

Thanks guys. I really like the idea of lowering the cost (to manufacturers), offering a couple "dealer only" days and then selling the crap out of tickets to the public. You could probably even go up as high as $100 a ticket, given the allure of NAMM.

I get why companies feel pressure to update things every year. But it does seem a bit crazy from a players point of view to see annual "new" Fenders, Ibanez, PRS, .... subtle cosmetic tweaks for the most part. Funny coincidence .... just before watching this, I was re-watching (for probably the 11 millionth time) Eric J's famous Cliffs Of Dover performance from that iconic Austin City Limits performance. 57 strat, a small army of Dual Showmans, and a Boss DD3. Good enough for me!

Big Question~ Can You Write Off Your Losses, Renting Booth At NAMM?
Then the Money Spent Ripped Off by Convention Center not an issue, correct? or no?

A tactile experience has a satisfaction and exhaustion element which humans find exhilarating. Are movie theaters irrelevant because of streaming and Blu Rays? Same question pattern for the audience. The cost and hastle for exhibitors is a different issue.
