Beat myself until I'm bloody And I'll give you a ringside seat You say that it's embarrassing I'm sorry that you had to see me like that So you could either watch me drown Or try to save me while I drag you down Want to fix it but I don't know how It isn't fair to make you wait around While all your friends are going out So Jesus, can you help me now Trade me in, oh, for a briar crown Is there anybody coming back for me If they ever were, they are not now So what's there left to talk about I'm holding on Just like a scratch off ticket How I dig my nails into your skin Honey, I'm not stupid I know no one wins this kind of thing It's just another way to kill an hour Wishing I was different Nobody deserves a second chance But honey, I keep getting them Like a scratch off ticket How you dig your nails into my skin Honey, I'm not stupid I know no one wins this kind of thing It's just another way to kill an hour Wishing I were different Nobody deserves a second chance But I keep giving them
love this song and love your music, god bless you for giving voice to your struggle. I am sure you have helped countless people in a similar situation.
Found you yesterday Listening for maybe three hours Thought I'd send some art as a response In hopes you'll actually read this and appreciate it As I have listening to your music and interviews So this is for you Unlikely Chorus (of a love song) A beautiful fission of duality Light and dark filtered through Each individuals reality A conscious collective Unaware of itself Crying out in misunderstanding Somehow bringing it back together Hit it big for the chorus Cry out so joyous In one voice without refrain Life as a love song Long sad and sweet Sweeps you off of your feet Then picks you back up Kisses you so hard You forget to speak Leaves your hands shaking Doubt and fear in quick retreat Life hits the chorus A love song of understanding Cry out again in joyous Life is a love song As sad and sweet As the duality of man A love song in a language Only the heart understands When we hit the chorus We know it went as planned Love conquers the duality of man Brings back the light Into a heart of darkness he spark of love fits Feeds the fire of hope Where your heart sits Makes you sing along When life hits the chorus Everyone loves A love song Sung out so joyous Anyway I just wanted to reciprocate for all the beautiful art you shared And wrote this listening to you this morning Hearing someone so intelligent and articulate express their emotions Both in the music and in what it means to them And the experience you've had made me feel like I should You did say it was worth the risk to share Hope you enjoyed
I hope she gets exposed to musicians with deeper vocabulary. She's clearly got incredible sensibilities. And like her respect for power chord progression and inside powerful harmony is great. I just feel like she could make something really incredible with some exposure to some deeper more complex harmonic structures
Being way too old to be a Millennial, I bought her second album, which was pretty good. This work, however, is much too mannered, her singing is whinny and self-absorbed. She has a rather thin voice, with too little colour. I've had enough. Sorry.
The feeling of hopelessness when you drag someone else into your misery. Julien's lyrics are so damn relatable
Julien I adore you. Nothing hits me in the chest quite like your music does
One of my favorites of Little Oblivions' non-single songs
Julien Baker is my literal religion
This song has made me cry so many times. I stopped counting.
Thank you for everything, Miss Baker
Strong work. I feel privileged to be ringside for it. Thank you, Ms. Baker.
this is nice *has a meltdown*
Julien Baker delivers again. 2021 is looking up
sooo good omg 1:55 to 2:44 always hits so hard
Beat myself until I'm bloody
And I'll give you a ringside seat
You say that it's embarrassing
I'm sorry that you had to see me like that
So you could either watch me drown
Or try to save me while I drag you down
Want to fix it but I don't know how
It isn't fair to make you wait around
While all your friends are going out
So Jesus, can you help me now
Trade me in, oh, for a briar crown
Is there anybody coming back for me
If they ever were, they are not now
So what's there left to talk about
I'm holding on
Just like a scratch off ticket
How I dig my nails into your skin
Honey, I'm not stupid
I know no one wins this kind of thing
It's just another way to kill an hour
Wishing I was different
Nobody deserves a second chance
But honey, I keep getting them
Like a scratch off ticket
How you dig your nails into my skin
Honey, I'm not stupid
I know no one wins this kind of thing
It's just another way to kill an hour
Wishing I were different
Nobody deserves a second chance
But I keep giving them
I FUXKING LOVE YOU KING JULIEN
My fav from the new album. Relative Fiction and Zipties are my other favs

she's a fucking genius
Found you yesterday
Listening for maybe three hours
Thought I'd send some art as a response
In hopes you'll actually read this and appreciate it
As I have listening to your music and interviews
So this is for you
Unlikely Chorus (of a love song)
A beautiful fission of duality
Light and dark filtered through
Each individuals reality
A conscious collective
Unaware of itself
Crying out in misunderstanding
Somehow bringing it back together
Hit it big for the chorus
Cry out so joyous
In one voice without refrain
Life as a love song
Long sad and sweet
Sweeps you off of your feet
Then picks you back up
Kisses you so hard
You forget to speak
Leaves your hands shaking
Doubt and fear in quick retreat
Life hits the chorus
A love song of understanding
Cry out again in joyous
Life is a love song
As sad and sweet
As the duality of man
A love song in a language
Only the heart understands
When we hit the chorus
We know it went as planned
Love conquers the duality of man
Brings back the light
Into a heart of darkness he spark of love fits
Feeds the fire of hope
Where your heart sits
Makes you sing along
When life hits the chorus
Everyone loves
A love song
Sung out so joyous
Anyway I just wanted to reciprocate for all the beautiful art you shared
And wrote this listening to you this morning
Hearing someone so intelligent and articulate express their emotions
Both in the music and in what it means to them
And the experience you've had made me feel like I should
You did say it was worth the risk to share
Hope you enjoyed
Un disco fenomenal, para escuchar de punta a punta, muchas gracias Julien!
2:44 When I Turn out the lights / When I Turn out the lights
I'm crying 😭

I had a dream where the police were trying to kill me!

That's okay! Not everyone needs to enjoy her work. I know I do.
That's a shame. I hope it didn't affect your good experience with aforementioned second album.
