  • This week is talking too two families, one where the mum feels more like a doormat than the mother of the house, but is this because of a family affair? And another where violent behaviour has led a mum scared of her own son.
Family conflicts are usually kept behind closed doors - until now. Fresh from her role in Supernanny, Jo Frost brings her experience to a new talk show format.
Real Families brings you stories of modern day family life from around the world through the eyes of children, parents, and parenting experts.

I am my sons only parent. I don't feel guilty for that because I'm not the one that made that decision. And I'll be damned if that means I will let my kid spit on me, hit me, mock me, or cuss me out!! That would NEVER HAPPEN!! As a single mom I raised a firefighter and a, soon to be, police officer. A man walking out on you amd your kid is no excuse for the way these children are being raised.

Andrew acting like he's messed up as a father but he's gonna make things right. Kids are 16, 11, and 8. Its way too late. The first 3 years are the most important in a child's development, followed by 3-5, then 5-8. These kids are already set on their path. Change is now up to them. Parental influence, even for the 8 year old is just not as important now.

I started laughing more and trusting my step-dad, who I now call dad. It drives me insane that he says Lisa never talks to him yet he cuts her off almost every time she tries to… no wonder you don’t hear her cause you don’t let her speak! Also he says he doesn’t understand why people think he’s inadequate parent yet it’s very obvious, does he not see the video of himself “trying to parent” with his phone in his face while he’s not even paying attention to his kids?!

I'm 71 years old and never wanted anything more than that my parents could stay together and we have a happy and peaceful life. My childhood wasn't bad and they certainly didn't fight all the time, but when they did it was awful, then my dad would leave for a period of time. They divorced and remarried 3 times. I had decent step-parents, but as I said, I wanted nothing more than to have my own parents together for the rest of our lives. P.S. In the end, they had a long time affair with each other till my dad's death in 1994.

Discipline needs to start right from the beginning: when they are very little!! Discipline shows your children, how to be a decent human. Lack of it branches off: into every area of their lives.

As great as having a father is, you can live a great and fulfilling life without one. If he continues to fail, understand you don't need him.

I tell u what , my kids wouldn't dream of treating me this way jus like I didnt my mom! WE ALL KNEW BETTER!! I have grandbabies now that also will not be acting a fool either! No exceptions!

I hope 1st lady gave him the freedom he so desired previously. Explain how hinges on a door work, they allow the door to swing both ways. Then she needs intensive therapy. Her ideal man/soul mate? A person who was/is dismissive of her and the children. A man who couldn't really care less about raising his kids? But yet he still feels they should respect and love him? You picked him, you helped not raise Milli appropriately. Thinking and acting like a doormat got you in this situation. Ever heard the saying that if you let people wipe their feet on the way in, they'll wipe their azz on the way out? 🙄

Take the TV out of the children's room. Kids will obviously watch something that's totally not the kind of program they should be looking at. Be aware of what your child is watching and listening to.

It’s a big problem when the child has a stronger will than the parent. (I’m referring to the second family). This episode is a few years old and I’m wondering how they’ve made out. How much can a parent do when coached with some general guidelines? That timid, beaten mother was in a very bad headspace; I hope her sister could coach her through the process.
