I would overall say yes and not just because I’m biased from having grown up there. Torrington has its flaws and was steadily going downhill throughout the 2000s into 2010s, but I’ve heard many people say it’s going through a rebirth transformation now. Money is being put into the city to redevelop it; they’ll be building a new high school soon to go along with other projects like giving downtown a facelift. It’s great in the summertime when they shut down Main Street for outdoor festivities and train rides to and from Thomaston. The surrounding towns are rustic and cozy with classic New England charm. Both towns have subpar schooling at the moment, but aside from Bunker Hill and a couple other scattered neighborhoods close to Cheshire and near Prospect I find Waterbury to be too busy and overall less desirable than Torrington. They both have high taxes and lower than state average property values. But in the end I’d say it all depends on what you’re looking for. The east end and parts of the north and southwest are the areas to be in Torrington.
Went to North School and now it is a police station. Still a nice place to live. Have to go back and visit. it has been a while. So much has changed and other areas it looks the same.
So do I, but I can't afford to live there. When I was growing up, you could buy in Cornwall and surrounding areas for a song, as they weren't yet home to so many rich and famous people.
I lived there for a couple years about 30 years ago. I still miss it.
I see a lot of improvements in that city. l also love the music in the background, can I please have the names of the music that is playing?

I have family moving into this area. Would you say Torrington is a better place to live overall compared to Waterbury?

Absolutely; years ago, I had a friend who called Waterbury "the armpit of the state". 😬
having lived in Waterbury and Torrington I pick Torrington
City is a dump but has really improved lately

a lot has changed as you would expect, yet if you haven't been in a while, it's still recognizable
Drove past my house lol
Torrington, a safe place to live, and no GHETTO!😊
It looks so green back there in Torrington.
