This album is so full of little moments I'm wowed by, in this one it's the syncopated drums on "DIDN'T I" around 0:21, they really punctuate that lyric
Very clever Mr. O'Hanley or Molly? I want the one l can't have, The Smiths at 1:10-1:15...these are the riches of the poor. Not exactly the same, but a very nice rendition. Really shows your range and ability. So awesome. Cheers!

If Molly Rankin was in the Smiths this is how they’d sound! The Smith’s would have been so much better with Rankin and Marr instead of Morrissey - as I’ve got older I’ve realised he gives off strong pretentious, entitled, incel vibes! My point: love Alvvays!
this Smiths cover band is actually pretty good, but sometimes less is more: dear god this album is noisy and crowded jokes aside, I love listening to Alvvays' whole discography, bye!

omg this is literally what i thought after listening to it.
“I won’t apologise for something I’m not sorry for” - love this bit. The whole Smiths and Morrissey influence perfected
Smiths like perfection! I love Alec’s guitar work - very Johnny Marr. They were holding back all the very best songs until album release clearly.
"Oh well I lost that shine. Didnt i?"
The lyrics for this song is everything!!!
I've had this on repeat for 5 days straight.
The Smiths but with a female vocalist? Yes.
check out the songs the smiths recorded with Sandie Shaw
you should check out The Sundays! you won’t regret it
Yes! The Sundays are awesome. Definitely recommend them to any Smiths fans
Easily my favorite track off the new album. So good.
1:14 is the riff from “this charming man”, they went all in with the smiths influence and it sounds so good
I caught that too on the first listen.
this is the only part of the song that sounds lilke the smiths. otherwise it's REM imo, very southern gothic.
@@bobbysworldofficial It definitely sounds like The Smiths in more than just that part. Johnny Marr has said that he was influenced by Murmur so, and a song can sound like it has more than one influence.
well murmur and the smiths discograohy were both jangle rock masterpieces. So maybe both ? but i def feel more smiths than rem personally
@@bobbysworldofficial idk, i thought the guitars through out the whole song is very Marr-like.
I feel like I’m in “The Dead Poets Society” when I hear this. Perfect autumnal daydreaming.

Rankin's a gifted lyricist, and Alvvays has a knack for sweet-sounding, dream-pop ear-candy; probably best rock album of '22.
😍😍 Her voice is magic.

Yeeesss man these details are always great. They are awesome songwriters
The bass in the 2nd chorus :0
So so good!
Reminds me a lot of The Smiths.
Yeah I get What Difference Does It Make vibes, but lighter. I like it

Not being able to talk to women
Sounds like REM to my ears
Same here. Sounds like a track straight from “The Queen is Dead”
Sounds like Johnny Buck on Guitar. Or maybe Peter Marr. 😉
Huuuge Sundays vibes...never in a million years did I think anyone could come close but this album is amazing
my favourite from this masterpiece of blue rev. can't stop listening to it !!!! so addictive song.
Sublimely somber and yet beautiful. Alvvays in a nutshell.
Johnny Marr would be proud
I imagine this in a movie
So so so good. They have the best influences ever, which in this case is Johnny Marr.
That bridge to the end melts me
This Charming Man + I Want The One I Can't Have = Pressed 🎸 Pure Johnny Marr inspired magic!
yayyy comments are open so we can all talk about how much we love this
I just listened to this 31 times in a row on Loop
Those are rookie numbers gotta bump it up hahaha🤟
this is so jangle jangle.. i love it!
This might be the best song on the album...although I've said the same thing about others on it :)
Literally never was a fan of Alvvays before this album drop. This song is a freakin banger! 🎉
I love how Abbey just hangs out on F# until the second verse, then she goes exploring.

Better than anything Morrissey's made in decades
