This variation, which features a beautiful solo for harp, is not from "Paquita" - it was composed by Drigo for the ballerina Pierina Legnani's performances in Marius Petipa's "La Camargo" in 1901. In the late 19th/early 20th century, Drigo composed a large catalog of such variations for the great dancers of the Imperial stage. Many of these variations were composed for solo harp, which was all the rage with the ballerinas of that time. The cadenzas were performed by the Mariinsky Theatre orchestra's legendary harpist Albert Zabel (interestingly, he died in 1901) . Many of Maestro Drigo's ad hoc variations live on in the "Paquita" Grand pas classique - this variation occasionally turns up in various stagings of it and is often included in various publications of the music.
