    The "plates" with the money in them on either side have changed drastically.
    2005-2010: Gradient with Helvetica
    2010: Single colour, more 3D, new effect
    2011-2016: New shape, Eurostile font

    From what i've seen on forums over the last couple of weeks, It sounds like DoND will be definitely be ending in 2016, possibly mid-year, sadly :( It will be sad to see the show finish, as it's been on TV for over 10 years, but it's kinda good as well, becuase DoND was great in it's first couple of seasons, but then it just went weird after that with all the silly gimmicks and cult-like traditions the show picked up overtime

      +James Michael Harding what makes me lol is that C4 want to axe deal over countdown which died a long time ago especially when Richard and carol went yet they are still letting that drag on sad times

    • @garydunn3037
      @garydunn3037 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +James Michael Harding Yeah, I wondered whether the show had reached its end. I e-mailed Channel 4 last week, and was told it will return later inthe year, but reading between the lines, I think they will be just showing a few remaining episodes that have not been aired yet. I read somewherethat the presenters have not as yet, renewed Noels contract for anotherseries. He signed his last contract for the show back in 2014, and wascommissioned to make a further 280 shows or so. When they have beenaired, I think that will be the end. Its such a shame, I really enjoy the show.with the banter between Noel and each contestant, and of course the banker. I think, personally, its the money they are paying out, and being onat a time in the day which is far too early for most people. We record it,and watch it in the evenings. I miss "Millionaire" and now another greatgame show looks like being consigned to the archives.

    • @JamesJimmaHarding
      @JamesJimmaHarding 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      According to the DoND forums, the show will be off until late October (!) and then return to air the last 40+ episodes before finishing for good. So it will make the 11th anniversary, and there is a slight chance (depending on how many breaks they take for horse-racing and over christmas) that it might JUST scrape into 2017 before it ends, but early January will be absolute latest that runs to

    • @garydunn3037
      @garydunn3037 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +James Michael Harding Well, like you say, the show has been on for over 10 years now, and so it is inevitable that it will have to end.I will really miss it when it goes though. What gets me is just howthey will wrap it up. The only way I can see any remaining contestants in the wings getting their turn, is to replace each oneafter their game, with a pilgrim from the audience, until all thecontestants have played their game, if that makes any sense.

    How much better was UK DoND back in 2005/2006?
    - Noel did an awesome job at hosting
    - No silly gimmicks
    - The players didn't bring sob-stories and didn't seem desperate for money
    - Naturally entertaining characters on the show
    - The show didn't have the whole stupid cult thing it seems to have now (None of this "Thank you mr banker, it's a lovely offer..." nonsense, or dumb traditions whenever the 1p is revealed)
    Now, DoND just boring and a sorry state with the show being dragged out to a 1-hour timeslot to include all the drawn-out bits, I'm getting tired of Noel now, the games are becoming far too samey and predictable with players not recognizing strong boards and just dealing at the first sign of good money, too much silly behaviour and too many gimmicks and artificial stuff in the gameplay (You could tell they were getting desperate to make games more interesting when they introduced the 'Box 23' feature at the start of this year. And even with that, hardly anyone has been willing to take any big risks on Box 23)
    Sad to see DoND change into the jest that it's become now, after it's heyday in 2005/2006. I feel the show has been crap since at least early 2010

    • @chaingangsoldier3100
      @chaingangsoldier3100 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +James Michael Harding Thank god I'm not the only one who thinks and agrees exactly what you've just said mate!!! It's such a shame because like you said in it's heyday back in 2005/2006, it was getting regular audiences of around 2 to 5 million! Now, it hardly even makes it into BARB's weekly Top 30 now cause of the way it's now played (and i agree, why did they have to kiss whenever the 1p gets revealed...) and probably now gets around 250,000 to 750,000? I really don't think DOND has got long left, may probably stay on C4 for another 2 or 3 years but i really don't think it'll last into the 2020's.

    • @JamesJimmaHarding
      @JamesJimmaHarding 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I honestly think they're trying to faze the show out now. They're no longer showing DoND on weekends, the show has been taking breaks almost every second week to allow horse-racing telecasts, they've just come back from a 2 month+ summer break (!). A new season and they're still pulling the show off every second week to look after horse-racing fans, the weekend shows aren't coming back any time soon, and they have this pathetic new timeslot at 1.10pm which is CERTAIN to yield poor viewing figures, so i think that may be the last nail in the coffin for DoND, sadly

    • @chaingangsoldier3100
      @chaingangsoldier3100 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +James Michael Harding Unfortunately, i can't disagree with any of that. Also, why does Noel now seem to rant on about "our first-ever half millionaire?" Even though on Thursday the show had it's 8th £250k winner, who in their insane mind would use it to buy Box 23 when they know they could LOSE IT ALL? Such a shame cause me and my family used to watch DOND nearly all time back in 2005/2006, now we hardly even watch it at all because of how watered down it's become and i agree, that's probably gonna be the final nail in the coffin for DOND I'm afraid.

      HitTheBluntTooHard .FattyCones420spliff I'm actually an Australian fan of the British DoND (I discovered it on TH-cam in January 2007, shortly after Laura founded the jackpot club and quickly became hooked), and the dond.co.uk forum is really the only thing keeping me interested in the British DoND at all anymore. Here in Australia, our version of DoND ran for a full 10 years and quietly ended in October 2013. Our version was becoming very boring and formulaic with Andrew O'Keefe (our DoND host) becoming almost unbearably annoying, and since 2010, they were even picking which games were shown on what days of the week! (They'd usually have the big wins on the Monday and Tuesday, sometimes Wednesday, the more mediocre-ish games on the Thursday, and the low wins almost always on the Friday. Which made it extremely predictable and boring)

    Its such a shame that Channel 4 have axed the popular game "Deal or No Deal". I realisethat all good things must come to their end, but this show was one of the last great gameshows on British tv, especially with Noel Edmonds as its host.We have no other real gameshows left, except that terrible itv show "The Chase" and "Tipping Point" which are toofast moving for me.

    • @97channel
      @97channel 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I liked the earlier years, but it got a bit surreal at times during the later years. It went way OTT with the dramatics and silliness. The running time needed cutting back too, the need to pad it out made it go even dafter with the theatrics. Game shows are taking a bit of a post Millionaire bruising at the moment. Whereas Millionaire kick started a whole fresh era for game shows, it's demise is having a knock-on affect. The big money game show revolution is at an end, and it'll be interesting to see if there will ever be another break through format to revive the genre in a similar way ever again.

    • @garydunn3037
      @garydunn3037 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      OK, I get what you are saying, the show at times was a bit OTT, but forme that is what made it entertaining. Lets face it, without Noel's bouts of silliness, and the wide variety of contestants, many of whichwere extremely eccentric. Then, for me, the show would just have been a boring game of opening boxes, deciding when to take themoney and run. You are right, I think the big money game shows have had their day in these austere times. Look at the game showsstill on. The Chase for example, people rarely go away with big moneyso I guess that show will go on and on.

    • @97channel
      @97channel 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Noel certainly did make a potentially clinical box opening routine way more interesting that you would have thought it could ever have been. With another host, I don't think it would have caught on. It's the era of the "pseudo" big money game show right now. Putting huge amounts of money on the table, then playing a game which ensures it doesn't leave the room. I think The Weakest Link may have been the first to exploit that tactic. A game designed to consistently give away a tenth of the jackpot, with no plausible opportunity of ever taking away anything approaching the maximum money technically on offer. The Chase is another one of those shows. I don't mind The Chase, but I couldn't watch it every single day. I don't find it hugely engrossing, I struggle to understand why it's quite as popular as it is.

    • @garydunn3037
      @garydunn3037 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      As regards the "Chase" my Mother watches it every night. But, for meit just does not have that charm, and charisma, that only people suchas Noel could bring to the show. I HATED the Weakest Link, with her,Mrs Robinson, talking down to her contestant's talking down to them.At least, the Americans soon cottoned one to that format. The fact is,Noel IS a REAL PEOPLE PERSON. Who has this ability to connect with PEOPLE from all SOCOIAL and ETHNIC backgrounds. And makeeach Game, Unique, Enjoyable. For some one to be able to turn such a mundane show of just opening boxes, and turning it into something really enjoyable, is such an achievement, and shoes justwhat a Great TV Show Host Noel really IS! It is Such a Shame, thatShows such as "Deal or No Deal" has now been consigned to the
      British TV Archives. Along with all the other "Decent Shows"
