1. As of 2023, Tom Ford himself stopped being actively associated with Tom Ford Beauty and it is now just being run by Estee Lauder personnel. So that would correspond with the time that you saw the creativity leave the brand. (Bobbi Brown feels like a ghost town to me since BB herself left it as well.). 2. TF Fiber Brow Gel had Teflon in it and I do think that most companies are trying to remove that from all their products. So maybe they are still supposedly working on another formulation that would be just as good that doesn't have that in it. 3. I suppose that the main reason that all fragrance companies change the ingredients in their beloved scents and then try to pass them off as unchanged is because the price of the ingredients has gone up. My guess is that maybe the original Guerlain fragrance had some natural essential oils in it and that they decided to abandon that. Which makes me kind of want to do a smell comparison myself, actually. I'm enjoying your Mishmas videos, btw!
The first maybe half dozen of the Pat McGrath Mothership palettes contain Teflon too. So I imagine that they are just selling off their existing inventory and then that will be that.
And I think part of the reason all the powder products are being reformulated is to get rid of talc. But, I agree that so much makeup in the luxury sphere has become so boring and directionless. I’m your age Michelle and I remember the excitement that was there when the pros launched their lines. It was revolutionary!
I'm an R&D chemist and I've formulated for many big brands over the decades and I can tell you exactly what's going on. Regulations, supply issues, or cost cutting. R&D and regulatory are saying we have no other choice and marketing is tearing their hair out. So you will NEVER get your old formulations back.
I'm sure regulations, supply chain and costs do play a role, but they can't be the whole story. For example, the impact of a higher pigment cost on a $90 eyeshadow quad is negligible on such a high margin product. They could just raise prices - oh wait, they did! Even as they cut quality. Second, given how few consumers were actually clamoring for it, it's hard to see the so-called "clean beauty" changes as anything more than an opportunity to reduce costs and build in automatic demand for rapid repurchases because products would go rancid so quickly. Preservative-free products won't last 8+ years the way old Chanel blushes have. What surprised me is how willing the market has been to "invest" in perishable makeup that most consumers can't possibly use up within its shorter shelf life. It's like "investing" in bananas. Third, if supply problems, costs and regs were the reason, how are Urban Decay, MUFE, Persona, Victoria Beckham, Chanel, and many others have for several years produced better eyeliners than Hermes launched at a 2-3x higher price?
What kind of regulations? Regulations to make makeup safer for us? Do the companies then decided to makeup the cost by replacing other luxury ingredients for cheaper ones?
I’ve never seen this version of Michelle, but I LIKE her! I laughed all the way through the “rant” but agree with everything you said! Go get ‘em girl.
You are spot on. Michelle! “Clean” beauty trend ruined the luxury makeup. The quality is very bad and the life span is much shorter. But is not only about the clean beauty trend. They try to cut costs and use cheap ingredients in order to increase the profit in a record time. Also some of them (ex.: Armani bronzers) are made in China. And on top of that the prices are higher every year. They think that people will buy no matter what but I doubt. In the last 2-3 years the limited editions are available much longer than before. In my opinion I think influencers can help with videos like this one. But the problem is the companies send free products and the reviews are more advertising than a real opinion and many people are influenced to buy because everything is “wow”, “excellent quality” and so on. Recently I saw a review (on TH-cam) of the new reformulated blushes from Chanel and the “opinion” was like “they are a hundred times better than previous and the quality is very good”. And people are happy and buy using affiliate links. Anyway I hope people will be more selective with makeup products and influencers as well. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
Guerlain got a new creative director a couple of years ago that wanted to modernize the scent and formula. Basically she wanted to put her stamp on it. She blew it big time IMO. I don't own the new one and will not buy it. It is horrible. Powder changes started with that LaMer powder that everyone LOVED. Then Chanel, and Givenchy changed. When Chanel added coconut oil to the reformulated cream bronzer that did it for me. I do not put coconut oil on my face. Instant breakouts occur and I'm 72!
Agreed. Violette Fr has her own brand and is artistic director for Guerlain makeup. And I find that in general, pre-pandemic products were much better than post-pandemic.
Bravo! Love that you’re providing your thoughts on these product mishaps. Clearly these companies are aware of you because they’re sending you PR. You have the platform to let them know what works and what doesn’t with solid logic behind it. It seems when smaller makeup companies (Tom Ford, Charlotte Tilbury) are bought by Estée Lauder they lose their creativity and formulas change to mesh with other product lines manufactured by Estée Lauder. ❤❤❤❤
Michele has spoken. And when Michele speaks, Brands Should Listen! Bravo! There are fails and there are fails... but the Guerlain Meterorites reformulation is a BIG one, who on earth would think it was a good idea to remove the violet scent?? It was integral part of makeup history!
I just pulled out my Meteorites powder and swiped it all over my face. ❤ I was vacationing in London in August and shopped at Harrods department store. I went to the Givenchy counter and asked the beauty consultant if they happened to have the original formula.... She went into one of the bottom drawers he had two !!! . I took them and was so happy !!!!!! ❤
The Givenchy Prism Libre powder was reformulated to remove talc. I believe a lot of cosmetic companies are removing the talc and some of them are doing it better than others. I'm glad I have the old version too!
I paused the video to find my kindred spirits who also lost it at "Incorrect!" 🤣🤣 Yes! New catch phrase which perfectly incorporates exactly how we feel!
I totally agree with you Michele! Why fix something that isn’t broke. The saddest change is the Guerlain Meteorites and the change in the fragranced. And I do miss those Chanel larger eye palettes too. Once in a while they make a change for the better but not often. It’s so frustrating but I guess we save money by not buying their reformulations & hold on dearly to the originals. 😆
You’re right about why they removed the talc, but talc DOESN’T have to have asbestos in it, if the company got the formulation done properly, They just took the easy way out.
Hi, Michele!!! The violets scent of Guerlain makeup used to take me back to the 80’s when I bought my first refillable Meteorites powder compact 😢 Maybe it’s time to move on, Idk, but it’s sad anyway…
I'm loving the ranting Michele!!! But sadly I agree, I don't remember when I was last excited by anything by PM or TF and I used to be crazy excited about any new release in the past. Now it's just meh... Very sad! Or maybe good for your wallet LOL
Good Morning Michele.. Everything you've just touched on is so on point so maybe these companies will hear this. Why they change formulas or discontinue makeup is so true it's frustrating to consumers who just want what we want, I did enjoy how you kept your sense of humor through your "Rant" lol HAPPY MISHMAS! ❤
Hi Michelle, many times when a company changes formulations in products it is to lower the cost of production, and maybe bring out a smaller size. Not to make the product better but to save money. The change is in many times not in the customers interest but in the companies.
I agree with everything you stated in this video. I have been extremely frustrated with companies especially Dior and YSL constantly changing and/ or discontinuing their foundations. I have loved foundations then they’re gone or reformulated when I go to repurchase.
I have two of the older meteorites and two of the new reformulation. At first I was a huge fan off the new meteorites bc it was more noticeable and I figured it had cleaner ingredients. Then I saw my skin in the daylight and noticed that the new powder really emphasizes texture in the skin and made it look much worse than no powder.
The YSL Touche Eclat foundation from about a decade ago was literal perfection but of course they had to change their formula... it was no longer as radiant and it is sits weird on the skin. I was broken.
Let me get started on mine: 1) Estee Lauder why pay $2.2 bn for Tom Ford and let it stagnate? 2) Westman Atelier - Why offer refillable lipsticks and no refills? If I want to buy other shades I have to buy whole lipsticks. How is that good for the environment? 3) Biologique Recherche - Your reformulations should result in better products not the opposite. 4) Bite Beauty - Company had to shut down when they turned vegan. Their lip mask was my holy grail. Had to buy up so many of the lip masks in ebay. Last time I looked, the original lip mask is going for more than $100 for a tube. Crazy.
@20:45 - I do not know how but somehow I KNEW you were going to hold up that Chanel palette. I still have mine too. Why in the world did they discontinue that absolutely perfect palette. You can get warm, cool and neutral looks from that one palette. Day and night looks as well including perfect dark shades that can be used as an eyeliner. In my world, the most perfect palette ever created.
I totally agree with you about the Guerlain Meteorites ... love love love the violet scent why oh why would they change it... BRING BACK THE VIOLET SCENT... Why do brands change a product only to take it from great to bad... Tom Ford Fibre brow Gel is another example
I so agree on the meteorites new scent. They took something that was unique and absolutely gorgeous that I looked forward to using to making it so ordinary and the two scents they’re merging don’t blend. Who needs another vanilla scented musky product. There’s 1 million of them out there
Thoroughly enjoyed this rant. I regret not trying the Givenchy Prisme Libre (was trying to reign in the spending) before the reformulation, but perhaps I escaped my heart being broken. I also loved the Dior brow gel based on your recommendation. I know it's not in your price range, but the ELF "wow brow gel" feels so much like the Dior in product experience, but not in packaging.
I’ve had it with Chanel and I’m not repurchasing products. As soon as I find a favorite, it’s gone & unavailable. I’m having a blast trying new things and finding new brands.
Also Nars blushes. They re forumulated as well as many othe companies-taking away talc not only dose it make blushes fades quicker also makes ang matte powder not matte anymore. I switched to Huda Beauty.
I had no idea the Meteriotes was reformulated. It's been on my wishlist for years because of your endorsement - I've just been waiting for them to improve the shade range. I guess I can finally let it go. Overall, I think the talc scare has made these brand reformulate powders for the worse. I snatched up extras of some of my favorite powders (with talc) this summer
Omg I loved this video! Burberry absolutely destroyed themselves. I don’t know why they even bother in beauty anymore. They used to have the best eyeshadow sticks and single shadows and I miss them so much! The downfall of Pat McGrath needs to be studied. The Mothership I palette is one of my favorite eyeshadow palettes of all time, but yes, everything lately is a random mess of color or the same repetitive pinky-warm tones and I hate it. Tom Ford has been a bore for a while. Hopefully Chanel sees feedback like this before they totally go off the deep end, because their line is full of classics that people love 😍
Totally agree. Guerlain Meteorites and Givenchy Prisme Libre were 2 of my holy grail. When Guerlain then redesigned the Rouge G so I can't buy refills for my large collection of LE cases😡! THAT WAS IT! I'm just going to use up my existing and I'm not buying new until I run out. (Probably years!)
Agree, switching up the lipsticks so that none of the existing refills we have invested in no longer work in the cases...was absolutely SHADDY and brutal!! I like the new gold tone, so sure, make a change with the colour, but absolutely no good reason to change the case so that all of our existing lipstick will not fit into the new cases.
Great video, Michele! Absolutely agree. I have same issues with Dior. Constantly changing and discontinuing their products. I used to use my favorite Air serum foundation until it got discontinued and replaced by bad foundations in a plastic bottle. So I switched to Armani luminous silk. Same with creams, I purchased refillable only to find out that they discontinued refills. Brands push us to buy elsewhere. I don’t get it 🤷♀️
I had been a huge fan of Laura Mercier from about 15 years ago to 10 years ago. I don't know the timing of when Laura stopped being involved, but the thoughtfulness of the releases and the palettes noticeably started to decline. Same with Bobbi Brown as noted below.
Love your passion in this video. I’ve been feeling the same way. I love makeup. It’s my passion but it’s been hard to get excited about a lot of the launches that used to bring me joy. You have the best content. I hope the companies watch your video and learn from it.
One of the challenges I see in the cosmetic industry is the delicate balance between stocking and maintaining the best of the line and the public's need for the next exciting launch.
Pat McGrath Motherships can still be purchased, but she did not release a new one this year. Hopefully she is just taking off time improving the next one. We have seen a decline and absence of her baked special shades in the last 2 motherships. Btw i heard the baked Italian formula is expensive for them to make. So perhaps thats why some stoped making them
I love the brutal honest Michele version!♥ Thank you for expressing loud and clear our indignation regarding big brands, their high prices and their endless meaningless launches! It is disgusting to see that, increasingly, luxury stores are much more concerned with following trends to sell more and more, with the aim of making formulas even cheaper and leaving us to suffer the lack of quality.
I wholeheartedly agree with you on the Hermes eyeliners. They are so dry and drag that it hurts. I got the color raisin and love the color so I’m debating whether to keep it because it’s such a unique color and very flattering for my eyes and returning it. I just got it on Saturday so I’m still in the window to return it.
It's heartbreaking when you have to break up with an item you love. So dramatic but, it's sad to need to be on the hunt for a new favourite. Couldn't agree more with everything said in the video! I'm happy I was able to pick up and try out the Givenchy powder just before they reformulated it. It really is a great great powder.
I’m so with you! I just HATE when companies discontinue products I love. For me, it’s the whole Bobbi Brown brand. They used to have the prefect eye shadows, the “shimmer wash” ones. The colors, texture, the way they went -on : it was perfect. And, you could build your own palettes (I HATE pre-made palettes, as I find they are such a waste since I only use, at most, half of the colors). The whole makeup line was actually high quality and beautiful, complete. With stability and just the right amount of new things. Now, they simply don’t have the single eye shadows anymore. Gone. And the whole line up is weak. And whatever makeup they still have, they keep changing formulas or discontinuing colors. Which is exactly opposite the brand’s founding philosophy. I don’t know where they’re heading, but the people making the decisions there are simply ruining the brand. And I guess it’s not just me… the brand is slowly dwindling away. As they had everything I needed, I was using this brand exclusively for many, many years. I have now given up.
Oh I love a good rant! Gotta hold these companies accountable in my opinion. If they want our money, there's no excuse for bad manufacturing or reformations without warrant. Also Michele, if you love a sophisticated violet scent that's a nice blend, you should try Penhaligon's Artemesia perfume! It's got a strong note of violet, but it's also a little woody too. Very feminine!
Yay Michele, finally someone telling it like it is. I'm sure big brands will be paying attention to you. I agree with everything you said. Just wanted to add my take the dior packaging for the highlighter. we pay a lot of money, with the silver quilted packaging, at least it showed elegance and was obvious it was dior. What's with the flat bland packaging? Boring! Seems to me that dior has kind of copied the chanel with just the cd now? I want the flashy packaging back! i want to admire the flashing packaging when i'm using it! Guerlain meteorites, the scent was the best part of the experience of using it!!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
I never enjoyed a coffee in the morning before like this, with Michelle's misshmass and the rant 😂 Due to time difference ( im in Greece 🇬🇷) i always was watching random times the videos when i got in YT and seeing the notification. Today just sat to have my coffee and Michelle was making hers 😊 Go get em , you are so right 👉 Happy early holidays and much love from Greece 🇬🇷 🎉❤
I’ll agree with you on the NARS palettes. They never make their palettes permanent. A few remain my staples and so old but I can’t bring myself to get rid of them! Same with Bobbi Brown palettes 😡
Nooo I had overstocked myself on some meteorites and was waiting for them to run out so I had no idea they changed the formula AND scent? : ( it was the only powder that made me look not cakey and almost airbrushed. And the scent is heaven to me. That three pan meteorite highlighter is still a favorite of mine as well. If you have any violet candy perfume recommendations out there I’d love to hear haha
Thanks Michele! I agree on the powders but the new Guerlain & Givenchy remind me of the Makeup Forever HD skin twist & light monstrosity - since all 3 companies are under the LVMH umbrella perhaps it is simply a decision to utilize certain glittery ingredients across the board.... I hope Dior doesn't become the next victim of this as you say "incorrect" path. 🙏
I agree 100% with what you had to say about the Météorites. I had always praised it as the ultimate softly luminous finishing powder, but no more. The reformulated version is terrible. As for the Hermès eyeliners, I didn’t bother with them because everyone I know who tried them said the texture was stiff and dry. No thanks. I’ll stick with my Victoria Beckham kajal.
I still have some of my "old" Givenchy Prisme powder fortunately. Not looking forward to the newer version. In regards to fragrance...the Estee Lauder company reformulated Private Blend Vanille Fatale despite saying it's the same. I had to break the bank to find the vintage bottle. Broke my heart. I live in fear of other products coming and going constantly.
You are absolutely correct about these beauty companies. I buy luxury brands from time to time, Pat McGrath was one I would purchase however in the past few years her line has not inspired me. Chanel, a bit overrated in my humble opinion, their products do not feel luxurious to me anymore, Armani same thing. To me these beauty products are an investment, they are expensive and should perform as such, or are we just paying for the name and the packaging? Anyway, I can go on with the RANT, but I won't, you did a great job doing that and was funny I might add. 🤣❤💋
Gonna throw Nars under the bus too: they/he reformulated their lip and eye pencils so one each of my faves is no longer a “wooden” pencil, but rather the pseudo-creamy ones that you can’t sharpen very well no matter what sharpener you use. Both texture and color are different and aren’t the same anymore. I have mostly switched to MUFE for lip and eye, and ABH for lip. I particularly like the ABH ones, so I’m expecting them to change that too! I used to laugh at my mother who’d buy her makeup in bulk, like she was warehousing them for a nuclear attack. Now I get it.
Michele, I saw your vlog specifically with the Guerlain Metorites and conflict with keeping them. Quick question: why are you putting them in a drawer and not displaying them? They are so pretty and seeing them will help you continue to enjoy them. They're beautiful.
Tom Ford, the designer, had sold his line few years ago for a very nice price. I noticed my favorite stick foundation was discontinued. One of countless times a company has changed ownership and their excellent products are discontinued or reformulated into something that is quite obnoxious. I think Estée Lauder and the companies are now seeing a change in the atmosphere of beauty. I think they’re discontinuing legacy formulas because they see more trends that attract clients in a different way and they’re not interested or even know about these better formulas. So they figure why are we spending money when we can cut costs and go with whatever the new market wants.
@@barbarasmith6229...you betcha!!! They see the older customer as a "dying" demographic and they are putting pretty much all their focus on how do they capture younger customers and keep them loyal throughout their lifetime, sadly those of us 45/50 +++ they just do not really care much about what we think or want, it's all about figuring out how brands like the "department store" brands many younger generations see as their "mom's" makeup, this is a huge uphill battle for all of the major department store brands like, Dior, Estee Lauder, Lancome, Schiesdo, clinique, Guerlain, Givenchy, chanel etc. So the focus of the big major parent companies that own all the smaller brands, are pushing their newer acquired brands like LVMH buying part of Fenty, and it owns Sephora which gives them a very good world wide grasp in the new and upcoming beauty brands.
Taking and changing and discontinuing make-up has been going on forever. When I used to work retail we had customers griping about their favorite (….) being discontinued. I used to use a finishing powder that disappeared. Lipsticks are another thing people would gripe about. If I were to ask someone what is really going on it would be Kelly Gooch sp? She is a great researcher on the makeup lines.
OMG Michele! I am barely listening because I am so distracted by your makeup! Fantastic! What are you wearing on your cheeks/face for blush/bronzer ??? I love it! ❤❤❤
Thank-goodness that I'd held off from treating myself to the new Meteorites for these Holidays!. I still have the original version. What's more, you were the one who taught me how to use it for their best effect. I'd been using Prisme Libre for the past decade, and can't comprehend their reformulation. What's next?. Armani reformulating Luminous Silk?. Ugh. Clearly, there are forces at play that us consumers are oblivious to. Loyalty, quality, and innovation used to mean something in this space. Here's hoping that 'some' luxury beauty houses re-launch their brains, again, in 2025. Thoroughly enjoying Mishmas from you. It's become a welcomed staple in my Holiday routine.
Tom Ford Beauty's death began when they killed Cocoa Mirage and that entire line of amazing color stories in their quads...then it was one random mediocre release after the next all in beigey pinks. I have that big TM palette in the purple and it is DIVINE and so luxurious...I will keep it forever! It was their last hurrah. I agree, it feels like their ship has had no captain for yearrrrsssss. They need a true Creative Director with vision because EL has tossed this once amazing brand in their corporate factory. No more TF for me. I have loads of Burberry single eyeshadows from their original line - great grunge silver packaging and interesting colors, smooth formula...bygone era..they're searching for a high luxury Chanel like identity but i dont think they've found it.
I imagine since these companies have lots of employees to keep busy with something, they decide it's time to recreate formulas whether they need improvement or not. I believe the same is true in the IT industry, so we have never-ending upgrades to software that was better 25 upgrades ago.
Hi Michele. I love how much sense you make. I wonder why regulators make it difficult for this industry to keep proven products by changing them. It seems that every time I find something that I love, it soon disappears. I have a drawer full of makeup corpses. Thank you for your rave. On another subject, will you please tell me what you have on your lips in this video? Your makeup looks great.
I think it’s mean! I banned MAC because of this choke hold self cancelling limited edition drama and Chanel is on my list now. I don’t reach for any of their new stuff that I have even though I liked the items and most of it is dusty instead of smooth.
I agree so much. I'm 25 and during puberty (15-19) I had really bad acne and I also have weird skin in general - but one foundation was my life saviour : Maybelline FitMe Matte & Poreless. Despite being a drugstore product it was so good. It looked matte but it was never cakey, it didn't break me out more than I already was and my skin agreed with it. It felt like nothing on the skin. It was seriously the best foundation I have ever used, better than all high end/luxury foundations I have tried later over the years. But I stopped wearing it around 2019, when I finally fixed my skin. A few months ago I decided to try it again - I got a bottle and the design itself looked exactly like it used to. But it is NOT the same foundation. It's sort of oily now and I can feel it on my skin. It's still quite good but not as good as it was. WHY ? Why do they change perfectly fine products ?
It's absolutely maddening when you fall in love with a product and they either reformulate it, or discontinue it altogether. It's all about cutting costs. Less quality ingredients means more revenue for the cosmetic companies. My example, Donna Karan's Chaos Perfume. It was my signature scent for 10 years. I also got compliments on it. It lasted all day. It got harder and harder to find. Then it was gone. I contacted the company, to no avail. I started buying it up on Ebay. I drew the line when it went over the $600 threshold. I was done. A few years back, and friend ordered the perfume oil from England for a birthday gift. I was in heaven. It's used up, never to be found again. Now 40 perfumes later, I still can't land on my signature scent. So frustrating. I feel your pain. 😢😡😯
Hi Michele - thank you for your vlog today...I agree that Victoria Beckham makes wonderful eyeliners! I was in love with Chanel CC cream - it was a 50 spf. It was so lovely and light and just a one and done for the days I wanted to just get out of the door. Of course, they discontinued it! Said they were reformulating but that was well over a year ago!
Yes! I refuse to get over this Meteorites reformulation misshap, like you said - Guerlain, please retire this version and we pretend like it's never happened. And the fact that their Les Voilettes powder is pretty much gone, too. 😑 One of their undeniable strenghts lies in their tradition, why abandon perfection for a cheap fad? The need to remove talc in no way justified the changes that were made.
I’m so traumatized when companies do this that when I fall in love with an item I end up buying multiple backups. I’m like a backup hoarder at this point 😂
It's more about the on going huge lawsuits in the US against Johnson & Johnson which have been ongoing since 2006. 1000's of women have filed lawsuits claiming the talc in the J&J powder called Shower to shower which was marketed specifically to women to use on their lady bits, women who had ovarian cancer claimed the powder which was heavily made up of talc, contained asbestos which was found in many women's ovaries. A woman in California won a case and her settlement was over 400M USD - sadly she passed away from ovarian cancer shortly after she won her case. Companies are not going to chance these types of lawsuits, as of today talc isn't banned anywhere in the world but is slated to be banned in the EU in 2027 and Canada and the US have new regulations around the use of talc in beauty products, so, it's going to be removed from all powders over time. This year we'll see hundreds of powders reformulated to remove the talc. At the same time companies are using this as an excuse to also replace more pricey ingredients with lower priced ingredients as the raw cost of goods as increased up to 500% since 2020. Companies are doing many things to try and keep the prices somewhat obtainable by switching up ingredients bringing down the cost of the product, also by reducing the quantity slightly and putting out the new product in a cheaper container and with a slight price increase, as it's called on social media, "shrink-flation" . When we are paying 2-5x more for gas and groceries - the companies who make beauty products are also paying much more for their ingredients and packaging, and they can not pass on the full increase to the customer as they would simply not sell the products if they come out with a 25-50% increase.
"It is incorrect." I'm obsessed with this as an assessment of a product. I need to borrow this, with credit of course 😂❤
Thank you for that insight!! So helpful!
❤️❤️❤️
Same goes for Charlotte Tilbury i feel. As soon as she sold it to Estee Lauder. Creativity left.
And I think part of the reason all the powder products are being reformulated is to get rid of talc. But, I agree that so much makeup in the luxury sphere has become so boring and directionless. I’m your age Michelle and I remember the excitement that was there when the pros launched their lines. It was revolutionary!

Yeah! True facts 😅 Talc banned in EU during 2027, is an example!
What kind of regulations? Regulations to make makeup safer for us? Do the companies then decided to makeup the cost by replacing other luxury ingredients for cheaper ones?
Co-signed by another product developer/formulation professional in manufacturing.
👏
Who needs Hermes eye liner pencils when the Victoria Beckham ones are so close to perfection?
I couldn't agree more!!
They are on my Holiday Wish List! I am mid declutter and tossed most of my eye liners.
Yes Vic Beck’s liner are so pretty , the new colors too. But quite pricey
I bought two and loved them but they make my eyes itch 😢
Brought 3 VB ones and don't like them at all, everyone raves about them so tried to keep using but ended up throwing them away
Same, I’m here for the transparency!
I’m nodding along and saying “Amen Sister” to everything you’ve said.
🤣 xoxo
Yes Michele!!! We love a good rant during Mishmas! ❤
My heart still hurts over the Prisme Libre powder. 😥
The Givenchy Prism Libre powder was reformulated to remove talc. I believe a lot of cosmetic companies are removing the talc and some of them are doing it better than others. I'm glad I have the old version too!
Removing the talc, okay I get it, but why did they have to add more shimmer/glitter?
@@calliebrookearnold18I think they had to use a bunch of mica since there may not be that many alternatives for talc? Mica is shiny
“It is INCORRECT,” is my new catchphrase.
I paused the video to find my kindred spirits who also lost it at "Incorrect!" 🤣🤣
Yes! New catch phrase which perfectly incorporates exactly how we feel!
Excellent video Michele, I hope these companies listen to you because no one knows makeup like you do, you’re amazing!
Companies had to reformulate powders because of the talc. Talc can contain asbestos which can cause cancer and they did not want to risk lawsuits.
Makes total sense. ❤️❤️❤️
I am so sad tho my beloved powder for years. Givenchy prism libre ruined it. Flat out !
You’re right about why they removed the talc, but talc DOESN’T have to have asbestos in it, if the company got the formulation done properly, They just took the easy way out.
@@barbarasmith6229 I know, talc in itself does not contain asbestos. If it is sourced with care.
Hi, Michele!!! The violets scent of Guerlain makeup used to take me back to the 80’s when I bought my first refillable Meteorites powder compact 😢 Maybe it’s time to move on, Idk, but it’s sad anyway…
Tom ford line belongs to Estée Lauder …. He is no longer involved so we are simply buying another Lauder conglomerate item
Why they change formulas or discontinue makeup is so true it's frustrating to consumers who just want what we want, I did enjoy how you kept your sense of humor through your "Rant" lol
HAPPY MISHMAS! ❤
❤️❤️❤️
Totally agree. I’m mad about the Givenchy powder. Just make a shiny version but keep the original. Not everyone likes a super glow!
The YSL Touche Eclat foundation from about a decade ago was literal perfection but of course they had to change their formula... it was no longer as radiant and it is sits weird on the skin.
I was broken.
Let me get started on mine:
1) Estee Lauder why pay $2.2 bn for Tom Ford and let it stagnate?
You are right on the mark on every product mentioned - couldn't agree more.
Amen to this rant!! Quit messing up formulas that we love. Quit making everything “clean”. So annoying 😬
I love this video! You are absolutely right, why discontinue a good thing? Why?
I’ve had it with Chanel and I’m not repurchasing products. As soon as I find a favorite, it’s gone & unavailable. I’m having a blast trying new things and finding new brands.
Also Nars blushes. They re forumulated as well as many othe companies-taking away talc not only dose it make blushes fades quicker also makes ang matte powder not matte anymore. I switched to Huda Beauty.
I’m living for this rant. This is so entertaining.
Good point!! Yes, that has really pushed for these reformulations - thank you!
Totally agree. Guerlain is now on my no-buy list, after being a big collector of all things meteorites and the rouge g lipsticks.
I loved this video. Thanks for giving voice to many people’s opinions 😌
So perhaps thats why some stoped making them
Thank you for being our voice! Spot on video
It’s so funny. My favourite blush in my 30’s was miei glacé. I’m in my 60’s. it’s a classic and never changed.
Why don't y'all try Maybelline Tatoo eyeliners? They're great!?! lol)
They should have us sign a waiver that we know talc, teflon and forever chemicals are in the products and we won't sue!!!
Bobbi brown has been sold to Estée Lauder too
I still have both my Guerlain shades thank goodness
I’m with you sister 💪🏼. We need many if these back!
I agree with you on the Guerlain meteorites. The new fragrance and formula was not an upgrade at all.
I have 3 of the Burberry diagonal eyeshadows. I absolutely love them. The shadows stay on my lids like no other formula ever has.
Rants are the best! So entertaining and funny. Maybe just me, but a good rant is fun. Thanks Michele!
Yay Michele, finally someone telling it like it is. I'm sure big brands will be paying attention to you. I agree with everything you said.
Just wanted to add my take the dior packaging for the highlighter. we pay a lot of money, with the silver quilted packaging, at least it showed elegance and was
obvious it was dior.
Love this video, thanks 🎉❤
Glad you enjoyed it!❤️❤️❤️
Such a refreshing video! Thank you!
Another beautiful video. Sad about the Guerlain meteorites 😢
With you on the Chanel palettes. You are educating me! :) I wouldn't have known the difference between old and new formulations of Chanel blush.
GM Michelle,
Everyone should buckle up for the massive shifts to come in the beauty industry. It HAS to happen.
❤️❤️❤️
I still have some of my "old" Givenchy Prisme powder fortunately. Not looking forward to the newer version. In regards to fragrance...the Estee Lauder company reformulated Private Blend Vanille Fatale despite saying it's the same. I had to break the bank to find the vintage bottle. Broke my heart. I live in fear of other products coming and going constantly.
Chanel is one that I really enjoy and sad they discontinued products that I ❤️
❤️❤️❤️
Is the ABH softer, easier to glide than MUFE?
Yes I think that’s true, now that I think about it. Makeup by Mario’s are good too.
Michele, I saw your vlog specifically with the Guerlain Metorites and conflict with keeping them. Quick question: why are you putting them in a drawer and not displaying them? They are so pretty and seeing them will help you continue to enjoy them. They're beautiful.
I have a tiered glass cakestand and display mine on that.
❤️❤️❤️
Does this seem to indicate catering to a possibly “younger demographic” than ours? Asking for a friend!
Michele, your lipstick here is so pretty, which one is it please? 🙏🏼
First of all-I LOVE YOUR HAIR TODAY!!!! Plus I love the rants. They were well justified and I just hope the powers that be listen to you.
Thank you Michele; I truly look forward to this every day as me time hanging out with you
Wendy Rowe did all the makeup you mentioned for Burberry and she was amazing loved all of it. Now I don’t get any of it
Taking and changing and discontinuing make-up has been going on forever. When I used to work retail we had customers griping about their favorite (….) being
discontinued.
I love it! ❤❤❤
Love this rant video ! Please do more!
❤️❤️❤️
I love spicy Michele ❤ great video! Truer words were never spoken.
Your makeup look is absolute perfection
Ta, Michele. The candle got me. I hate that lingering smell of cooked food (especially COD!!). So i am going to try this one.
Well said. I wish they would leave the classics alone. Thanks you for speaking out and have a great day.
This video made me liberated & free. Tyssssssssssm !!!! ❤❤❤❤
I assume the powder changes are mainly due to formulating without talc due to the clean beauty movement
