As an amateur author, I'm right there with your friend. The only thing better than praise is constructive criticism, especially if it's constructive criticism from someone who actually _likes_ your work.
I think the thing with Mark Millar is that he went hollywood, but he never STOPPED loving comics. There may have been some cash grabs here and there, comics made as netflix pitches, but for the most part it feels Millar always ensured he made good comics first. Most of these guys who go hollywood reluctantly come back to the industry chewed up, depressed, hat in hand, and cannot reignite that love for the medium they once had. Millar kept one foot in the medium, stayed humbled, and always remembered where he came from.
This comic gives us what it promises and a great setting in the first issue. Mark is on fire with 3 mini series atm and a 4rh to come (that vampire superhero thing he teased a month ago)
Love millars writing of a classic anti-hero who is just brutally straight forward and Scaleras artwork is amazing in bringing the character to life. If this were made into a film I think Guy Ritchie should be the man to direct it.
Offtopic: They actually killed Clark Kent to make his new son replace him, the new bi Superman is now the face of the whole Dc Comics. This is too predictable at this point

my local comic shop missed a few issues so I haven't read the whole shebang yet, but overall I liked it,....but I'm a fan of detective/fimnoir/spy/etc.,....genre,.... I liked the fact they kept it short and sweet.,..... If the inside art used more of the style of the cover art, I think it would have been more interesting,..... The book is good enough that I will finish collecting the series if I get a chance.
When I saw the Mark Millar in the Title, that remind me I need finish Supercrooks anime on Netflix. Trying to get Super Crooks anime trending or the top 10 and people to watch it instead of giving Netflix's live action Cowboy Bebop more power by hate watching. Supercrooks anime is a million time better. It sad that Netflix Live action Cowboy Bebop is in top 10 "really sad". I hope Netflix don't screw Supercrook by canceling it like the they with Jupiter's Legacy.
Looks great. This is something that an SJW writer could never do, because they don't do redemption. Their protagonists do morally sick things all the time, but they always proud of it.

Zack, you really need to start reviewing ASM and the tie ins. They're so mind numbingly bad, they're totally fertile ground for videos. The last few issues of Spencer's run were horrifically bad, and now they're off to a worse start with this Beyond stuff (which seemed to have potential).
Why is it always these modern comic their aways the hero 'Taking down the sytem they prop up'. Like we still have dictator, terrorist groups, and evil countries out there, so why focus internally when we have so much problem that not internally.
My girlfriend used to call Gollum when I stood like that over the sink. Too fat for her to call me that now! I win. I have no idea what women think is good looking. Look at how much smashing Pete Davidson is doing, and the guy looks like a tired Marty Feldman.
The art looks like Sean Gordon Murphey's stuff. Love it!!

Mark Millar got that deal with Netflix to turn his books into series. (Millarworld) That seemed to light a fire under his ass.
My favorite Millar book is Supercrooks. It's fun and has a completely different tone than most of his stuff.
Millar's "Down With the Dead Men" in Spider-Man Marvel Knights was cool.
