What kind of rock star can master the guitar the voice and the piano AS WELL ... if not Matt Bellamy? He is talented beyond normality. I try not to adore him too much, but really i can t. He is an incredibly talented artist. I can t nearly believe a person can be this amazing.
sadly one of their most underrated song/music . . . it's sad of how this very beautiful, elegant, yet dark, mystical/mysterious & profound song can be so much underrated . . . people/humans . . . where is your Soul ?? ...
@@Atlas65 nah it's a fan favourite for those who give it a chance, but most people rate it at bottom of OoS because it's not hard rock and are put off by quieter and more nuanced music.
No, he's not a classical pianist, he's a classically-inspired pianist. He's only above average technically in the world of professional piano playing but sure as hell he's up there creatively when it comes to writing music on piano. Bear in mind that this is a self-taught pianist, heck, imagine what he could've been like had he taken on proper lessons.
+yongtaufooboy True. And the same with his guitar skills. He is not very good technically, but his creativity makes him one of the best guitarists of the 2000s imo.
Totally agreed on this one, of course he can't be compared to classical pianists who practice more than 10 hours daily since idk they were born lol but he's quite amazing player in his own style, not to mention his creativity and composer skills. And the fact that he's a self-taught pianist, god I just wish I had half of his talent..
matt is putting a bit of a rachmaninoff piece inside of butterflies, as a tribute to the pianist who inspired a great part of matts piano writing... he said that, not me...
In my eyes Matt has been a vehicle of introducing classically inspired music to a generation of younger people not previously exposed to it. With regards to Matts technique, imho as long as you can reproduce what you hear, it's irrelevant, I also play guitar and piano/keyboards, but only by ear, I listen to a piece of music, then deconstruct and reconstruct by sound alone, greigs piano concerto was the first time I realised I could do it. To watch technically I'm awful, not always using correct fingering, but sounds identical.
Muse was so focused and intentional with their performances back then. It was all about the music and less about playing the catchy hits casual fans would enjoy clapping along to.
Those hits still include Knight, I love and know almost every Muse song at the very least I certainly know every single album track from their 9 albums, and I still think Knights of Cydonia is one of their best songs ever written, on par with Citizen Erased, my number 1 pick will always be Space Dementia. I think a lot of their newer stuff especially their last 2 albums try too hard to be catchy but at least their other hits in their current live setlists include classics like Plug in Baby, Hysteria, and Time is Running Out.
I still think they're focusing on their performance it's just that they're trying other things . They've been together for a while now so it's natural to want to experiment with new types of music and performance. That's what it's all about .
Pure Genius... Its just so... brilliant... after getting into Muse I have never been able to like any other band because it will never satisfy me like Muse can. Best band ever.
yeah, they raped Rachmaninoff here but no other rock bands have done it before as I know so it's kinda cool... I'm not a big Muse fan, but he's a talented musician in my oppinion compared to many other rock bands.
Who you were.... was sooo beautifuuuul REMEMBER WHO! Whoooo Youuuu WERE! Who You Where. Thanks matt for this song... I'll be grateful the rest of my life.
Opportunity cost people. He's a guitar player, singer, and song writer. He'd be better if piano was a primary instrument, but he focuses time on other skills.
Another common song Matt plays is Rachmaninoff's Prelude in C# Minor. In the early days (and still sometimes today), he would do this before Screenager.
That particular fragment (0:33 -1:00) was composed by him. It's from the song "Butterflies & Hurricanes", which features in the "Absolution" album (2003).
oh, in fact i heard that for the first that in the wembley live 2008, but when i saw a couple of videos of Screenager there are always Rachmaninov in the title so I thought maybe it was one of his numbers
2002: Setlist featuring some of the best tracks muse has ever written from both OoS and Showbiz as well as early versions of Absolution 1 year before release and excellent (although slightly flawed) renditions of Rachmaninoff by Matt as well as great supporting drums 2017: Dig Down and Isolated system at every show with barely any piano to be seen and essential OoS tracks neglected in favour of easy 2nd law and cheesy tracks like Starlight RIP Live Muse, Sadly Missed
HorseMan as much as I agree, their performances are still killer, and heck we should be lucky their even preforming. So just let them play what they want, and be happy 👍🌝

He's a musical genius
sadly one of their most underrated song/music . . . it's sad of how this very beautiful, elegant, yet dark, mystical/mysterious & profound song can be so much underrated . . . people/humans . . . where is your Soul ?? ...
Is this a underrated song. It has been really high rated for me since 2003. And still is.. and if I am not mistaken this is a kind of fans favourite.
they're dead inside
Perfection

pwoper not proper
Absolutely spot on. He's not a concert pianist but his musical theory is right up there with the classical best.
totally agree

bliss to my ears
+The Right Honourable Jimmy Screenager to your ears lol
lel
Give me the peace and joy in Matt's mind.
Love a bit of butterflies thrown in there!
Spesh this was only months before butterflies and hurricanes was recorded. He didn't come up with it in the recording studio, you know.
b33p it's not even his piece, lol
Evil Catter butterflies and hurricanes is a Muse original and so is the piano solo?
matt is putting a bit of a rachmaninoff piece inside of butterflies, as a tribute to the pianist who inspired a great part of matts piano writing... he said that, not me...
Just for this performance alone, I will never let anyone talk shit about Muse. If you can't see this art, you are just blind.

So awesome to hear Rachmaninoff in the beginning... that goes in to the Butterflies & Hurricanes solo.... and then into Screenager. Fantastic.
Muse was so focused and intentional with their performances back then. It was all about the music and less about playing the catchy hits casual fans would enjoy clapping along to.
Wub wub
They still are , that's why I love them 👏☺️❤️

He still is
13 yrs ago, to have the balls to do this! That is why Muse is. Stunning!
this guy is beyond human
Johnny B i was thinking thé same thing
I miss this time. I still hear it today, but it's the old songs.
You are getting old, my dear friend.
Matt Bellamy. Un génie. A inscrire au panthéon de la musique.
They hypnotised the whole audience... i love this performance
THIS SONG IS SO IMPORTANT and I love Rachmaninoff I'm crying
Pure Genius... Its just so... brilliant... after getting into Muse I have never been able to like any other band because it will never satisfy me like Muse can. Best band ever.
Agree 100% , no band can touch MUSE ,or ever will. IMHO
THAT INTRO! Why has this got only 53k views?
BUTTERFLIES AND HURRICANES!
2024 and it's still my favourite Muse Video ❤️
OMG so young 😍😍😍😍😍😍
He is a piano virtuoso and virtuosic vocalist. He shows great technical abilities vocally and pianistically!
MUSE you are great, so good...to hear some of my favorite romantic classical composers in your work....

Just like heaven! 😇
The intro is prelude op 23 no 5 😍😍
+Thepiccolopower Let's be honest, it's a bastardization of it.
+lexagon Well yes, but for not being classical music, it's pretty cool that at least they used it :D
yeah, they raped Rachmaninoff here but no other rock bands have done it before as I know so it's kinda cool... I'm not a big Muse fan, but he's a talented musician in my oppinion compared to many other rock bands.
Correct :-) !
Thank you, I was wondering which one it was

Top shelf music, simply genius!!!

That transition 😳😳😱😱😍😍

Magnifique. Muse
Ahhhhh pure awesomeness!

They play so many songs before they release them. He played the piano part of butterflies and hurricanes
Omg I love his piano
Que genio...!!!
Simplemente genial💐💐💐💐💐
Excellent 😉 groupe 👍👏👌💪j'adooooreeeee
Bearing in mind that this was back in 2002, today this must be just his warm up
Matthew Bellamy is such an inspiration to continue to play piano thank you Bass God
1:00 sounded more like Rachmaninoff 3rd Piano Concerto.
It's a mix of that and chords from Prelude in G Minor :)
Opportunity cost people. He's a guitar player, singer, and song writer. He'd be better if piano was a primary instrument, but he focuses time on other skills.
Becoming UnTangled pianists as well :)
Piano never was his primary instrument , always had a guitar as well….and he’s great on both.
What a fucking outro! A heavy piano riff :P
Matt
I can play the very beginning bit now, looked it up. it's so fun to play :D
Jesus.... beautiful ........
A part of Butterflies & Hurricanes live in 2002. The song in studio 2003.
Merci merci merci 😘
man matt really has talent
this artist made me want to do music
Butterflies and Hurricanes
Fantastisk!!
Amazing!!!!!!
excellent !
Matt Bellamy te amoooooooo!!!!!!!
Another common song Matt plays is Rachmaninoff's Prelude in C# Minor. In the early days (and still sometimes today), he would do this before Screenager.
@SaraHussain Yes, that's right. Later they used that piano part for the B&R middle section.
He sing great, he guitar great, he piano great... What else ?
i dont fucking care if Matt is a piano virtuoso. he's fucking awesome!!! MUSE ♥
needs a studio version of this
Genio
Excllent
@SaraHussain
You need to see them live if you really wanna understand what is Muse =)
They're Incredibleeeeeeeeeee
Holy shit!
I REALLY MISS THE GREAT MUSICS FROM HULABALOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(
The beginning sounded like one of their Exogenesis Symphony parts
Are you talking about 0.34 ..?
❤️👍
Bro had Butterflies and Hurricanes before he had it
0:34 - Butterflies and hurricanes
Yeah, maybe you're right. But for today's rock standards, I think he is a piano virtuoso. =)
Thanks for your comment!
Assassin and butterflies and hurricanes and screenager... woh
and United States of Eurasia toward the end!!
+lady snow Yeah it's assassin Omega edit at the beginning. At least we know where the influence came from.
+Bass Lightyeah nope it is not assassin, but it is prelude 23 op 5 adapted from rachmaninov ::
raphael hamon I know, but there is a part in the Assassin Omega boss edit that sounds like rachmaninov.
Assassin? Are you dumb?
so. fucking. goooooooooddddd.

🎹🎹🎹🎹
Humbug, they are still playing real music….and winning awards. You are just stuck in the past.
on my channel there is the remake of the entire song!!!
So Matt had been working on his own piano piece which later became butterflies and hurricanes. That's awesome!!
Julia H I think you mean "Matt has been putting bits of Rachmaninoff into his own songs".
0:33 Is it his own composition ? Or it's a Rachmaninoff's number ? Which number is it ?
That particular fragment (0:33 -1:00) was composed by him. It's from the song "Butterflies & Hurricanes", which features in the "Absolution" album (2003).
oh, in fact i heard that for the first that in the wembley live 2008, but when i saw a couple of videos of Screenager there are always Rachmaninov in the title so I thought maybe it was one of his numbers
ah n da esse home n tem oq falar
Listen to prelude in g minor by rachmaninoff if you liked the opening!
Waw! 😀
Is this an extract from the prelude in g minor at the beginning?
2002: Setlist featuring some of the best tracks muse has ever written from both OoS and Showbiz as well as early versions of Absolution 1 year before release and excellent (although slightly flawed) renditions of Rachmaninoff by Matt as well as great supporting drums
2017: Dig Down and Isolated system at every show with barely any piano to be seen and essential OoS tracks neglected in favour of easy 2nd law and cheesy tracks like Starlight
RIP Live Muse, Sadly Missed
HorseMan as much as I agree, their performances are still killer, and heck we should be lucky their even preforming. So just let them play what they want, and be happy 👍🌝
2018- something human....
Tigran tsaturyan hey something human is good! It’s meant to be soft and slower and stuff. It’s great. Have you listened to The Dark Side yet?
Synyster Bullett yes, dark side wasn't a bad one.but dig down,TC, and something human still remain useless
yea prelude in g minor by rach but the bit just before he starts singing reminds me of chopin
Questa si chiama FOLLIA POSSENTE!!!
