About Alonso Del Río:
Alonso del Río is a Peruvian artist. Among its multiple facets, that of musician and writer stands out, but it is mainly known for its extensive work and dedication to the study of master plants, as tools for the development of consciousness. It has worked mainly with ayahuasca, a medicinal plant from the Amazon jungle, deepening in the Andean and Lakota cosmovision, among others.
His first approach to sacred plants was 15 years ago when he consumed the wachuma cactus (Echinopsis pachanoi), a traditional Andean medicinal cactus. This experience awoke a great restlessness and of the years later in 1979 he abandoned his university studies and traveled to the Amazon jungle. Here he learned about ayahuasca for the first time and for 13 years he learned its uses with the shipibo pueblo, training himself in vegetalism as a traditional healer.
In 1992 he returned to the city of Lima where he lived for several years, sharing his apprenticeship and conducting ceremonies. Last years he moved to the Sacred Valley of the Incas where he currently runs and carries out different activities in a healing and teaching center that welcomes people from all over the world. In 2001 he published his first album of what he calls music medicine and in 2013 he published his first book titled Tawantinsuyo 5.0: Andean Cosmovision, from which he relates the ancestral wisdom of some original Andean pueblos with personal reflections. In 2014 he realized the primer. medicine music festival summoning artists from different parts of the world. He has produced documentals on sacred plants, and until closed, he has edited once albums as a musician.
In 2002 together with his wife Waltraut Stölben they founded the Ayahuasca Ayllu healing center, where they currently offer ceremonies, diets, vision searches and various practices for the integrity of the human being.
Together with his family he is part of the Wiñaypaq educational project, which provides free education to children in the Sacred Valley in Cusco, one of the other districts of the Province of Calca, located in the Department of Cusco.
It also led the creation process of the Bahuaja Private Conservation Area 1, an Amazonian nature reserve located in the district and province of Tambopata, in the region of Madre de Dios, within the buffer zone of the Tambopata National Reserve, that conserves and integrates medicinal plants protecting the biodiversity.
