The Finns have an ideology called Sisu. It’s a quiet and reserved inner strength or stoic determination. I think this boat epitomises that concept. Reserved in outward appearance an a powerhouse underneath. Great tour Nick!
Who else thinks the front and rear cabin layout is pretty cool? At first I thought it had a single cabin, then when he showed the rear one I thought to myself "ahhhh, that's nifty"
When he finished talking about the table and turned to reveal the stairs down, it was an audible Wow! from me. Did not expect that much space back / down there.
Some might not think it beautiful but as somebody who appreciates form following function, I think it's stunning. Perfect for exploring the west coast of Scotland.
Mate, same situation. Think I watched the entire channel over level 4 lockdown. Consider myself an expert now...never been on a boat, unlikely to...lols
@Just think yeah it sucks having competent leadership that listens to science... come off it. Nz are doing great. Australia too. Sorry if it’s not going well where you are.
Finland is one of the most beautiful places to sail a motor yacht. I was, I saw, I fell in love. I hope that at some point in my life I will be able to move there and sail with a yacht, chosen with the help of your channel Nick. Greetings and wish you and all those who watch this video Aquaholic-maniacs health! 🥃🥃 stay safe!
Just to clarify, what I mean is, Botnia haven't really actively styled this boat (in the way that maybe a Sunseeker is), its look is mostly a product of function. Nothing wrong with that of course, I agree it looks great.
That second cabin was a shock! I wasn’t expecting that much space. When you said ‘flapping canopies’ i thought you said something else starting with F!
Se olis Jukka komiaa👍 Ja olis aika hauska jos Nick sais kutsun jonkun paatille vaikka Turun saaristoon, saisi tehdä videon yhdestä maailman parhaista veneilyvesistä 😊👍
@@MarkAldrich74 he needs to set up a little scene on one of these videos where Maggie is on a seat totally open and Jacque Le Sac is standing over her with a knife
Great Vlog👍! For a boat they intended to be function over style it's a beautiful boat! Two tone paint job, wood rails, the finish on the decks that not only adds a nice contrast it also cuts down the sin reflecting off a bright whitefloor, all the wood finished interior instead of just fiberglass surfaces, interior colors, plus being nicely appointed for it's size! I'd definitely take it! The angled windscreen is good for keeping down the water beading on it from waves splashing and as a sunshade/glare stopper, but it also keeps it from looking like just some shrimp/fishing boat! Nice choice for a video, and cool that there was another right beside it to show options! Love the wide variety of boats that you do!
That's a real machine! I love this kind of boat! While Nordhavn are floating fortresses on sea, Botnia are more like armoured knights galloping on the water!
Brilliant. I do enjoy your tours of “practical” boats as they really do make the most sense if you want to maximize your time on the water. This boat more than fits the bill! 👍🏻😁🇨🇦
I can see why Finnish people (and Scandinavian/Northern people in general) would rather have a very practical boat that is very seaworthy than a more relaxing/cruising/luxury yacht like those in the Mediterranean. Practical, fast, well thought out, great boat. P.S. love you presentation of their 47ft as well.
Just love these "real" boats. In Scandinavia and Finnland many people live out on an island so your Targa (or Buster) is your mode of transportation to go to work or do your weekly shopping. For this you need a real boat not one that you cannot use if there is a bit of rain or snow. Full on propper boats that - I feel - are very stylish, indeed. Glad to see, "the pole" was not fitted to this one here, just avoids all the "funny jokes". Great video as always, Nick.
"A Few Thoughts": She's not 'cute'... She's PERFECT...! Form follows function. It all starts with the D-section fenders. Perfectly logical. The Aft Cockpit - All that's missing is a table to snack at. Removable pads for seating would be a nice touch, but it IS a 37 footer... The Flybridge is cool too, if for no other reason than the Bimini storage. LOVE the side decks. LOVE the 'comfort fore cabin' option. The reverse windscreens are ideal. And being able to walk thru water on the side decks and then into the helm, albeit on floor mats, is a testament to the utilitarianism of this beauty...! I want one. The seat back... GENIUS...! Look closer at the table... When open (operable), the finish is flawless. But the grain on the table itself... Yeah. Its craftmanship is spot on. The grain aligns perfectly! What's not to love about the galley - especially for a 37 footer...! NO GLOSS, yet an exquisite finish. This could comfortably accommodate 3 couples. But wait... A 40" TV on a 37 foot boat...?!?!? With a brilliant layout to enjoy it al in...? I friggin' LOVE IT...!!! So the table goes to the ceiling on a pole...? I see. Why would you possibly want a pole, in the center of a horseshoe-shaped settee, on a craft that can accommodate 2 couples and... TWO 'other friends'...? Just sayin'... The 2nd Cabin is the smartest part of the boat. Brilliant. 40 friggin' knots top end and 30 knots cruising...?!? Sweet Jesus! I CRAVE this gorgeous boat. And it's less the half a mill. Brown-bag it for 437 years, quit drinking good bourbon - and fast women, and maybe one day.......
They are great family boats as well. My family used to have a targa 31. we Are a family of 6 and it was enough space for all of us and our baggage. Maybe a little narrow but worked great for us. In my opinion targa Are really great boats and i think they look really Nice.
Didn't think I was going to like that boat at first glance but glad to say I was wrong. What a clever design, a lot of boat there squeezed into 37ft, very impressive. Thanks for the tour.
Trawler style looks that make it looks like it does15 knots but does 40. Sunseeker, Galion etc yachts look like they do 40 knots and most only manage 30.
So accustomed to seeing such overt opulence on the yachts that I found this boat which, as you pointed out, is so focused on function to be an unexpectedly welcome change. Being a very practical minded person myself, I quite enjoyed the tour. I would greatly appreciate more tours of boats that demonstrate the form follows function philosophy.
This is a real weekender type of boat. Arrive Friday evening, if its early, head out, if its late have cocktails and TV. Saturday morning cruise about, anchor, enjoy the silence, Sunday, lay back enjoy the morning and some of the afternoon, and then scoot home. Not so much boat that it needs a half day to tuck it in for the week. I like it!
This is a very serious boat. I'm not really into "gin palace" boating; so I very much like the looks and sheet practicality of this. An excellent presentation Nick; thank you.
There is a lot to be said for a practical boat. At the end of a lovely day out on the water you are not left with hours of clean down and packing away! Cracking vessel!
Just noticed that after watching your Vlog on Miami Vice cars the TH-cam algorithm filled my feed with clips from the show! And now I can feel it in the air tonight that I'm going to have to turn on Hulu and start watching it all over again! lol! 😎👙👠🏄♀️👮♂️
Well the Dutch and the Nordic countries build boats for their seas, and it even has the name of the Gulf of Bothnia in its name, so in those waters, this kind of boat is more practical than a med style yacht. Plus I really love these small tug styles, like the small Nordhavns you have on your channel. Great for fishing trips
Talk about functional. almost comical in immediate appearance, until reasoning why the foward looking wind screen points inwards. The rough seas will fall off that much quicker, I speculate. 40 knotts ? A real mover too, in rough waters ? I love it :) Especially the galley right next to the helm. Cosy in cold climates. You could do some serious fishing with that as well, I reckon. Love it even more then :) Thanks.
The slanted windows also dim any glare or reflection from the sun in the day and the shore at night, it's very easy to misread navigation lights when you see a twinkle reflected on your screen at night.
@@AQUAHOLIC Oh, that's cool! It would be really interesting to see you travelling around the Europe and showing up boating culture in different countries!
Very practical, island explorer/fishing/weekender. Would be a lot of fun. I’ve seen other reviews of these, but of course, this Aquaholic tour is the best I’ve seen. Great job as always Nick, on a truly compelling machine.
A great looking Targa 37, the black finish setting it off nicely, while the aft door really opens up the space. I used to own a Botnia Targa 30 and can testify to their amazing seakeeping, and practicality. The galley next to the helm was rubbish, and the stripper's pole on the dinette always got a laugh, but I don't think there are many better boats out there. Not bad value either for second hand Targa 27s or 30s. Wessex Marine in Poole have imported them for years and know them inside out.
I like this boat, Nick. I even like how it looks. I especially like, when it comes to speed, how it is quite capable of leaving most other yachts in this size class (and larger) in the dust....errr...spray!
What a well thought out small boat , very impressive attention to detail ,, dont like the galley where it is , but as mentioned it can be else where ,, the engine bay is immaculate , come to think of it , so is the rest of the boat , a credit to its owner.
Like a new Jeep from the late 70's - looking utilitarian, while presenting a polite demeanor dockside. Filled with nice surprises via the "unconventional" use of space. Galley reveled next to the helm for the proper preparation of a cruising cuisine - then POOF a Nav Station when the dishes are cleared. Same with the aft stateroom(s). And outside - easy to imagine a puffy down jacket with plaid scarf wrapped around face and ears while putting toward that secret, snow covered, pine filled island - ah, that fly bridge. I'm only a few million Markka short (OK, Euros)...
The bow railing is also for finnish docks, because we have lots of docks that you can’t get close to it when you are going stern first because of the shape
This look is quite common in Finland. Sargo(Minor), Nordstar, Targa and even Paragon. Targas are the gold standard for function and finish. They have very loyal following here in Finland. Many don't use them at even 10% of their capacity. I have been going around the archipelago with a 27. Very capable, not very comfortable for sleeping.
OMG there's one of these in the harbour at Stonehaven and I always drool over it! I'm so glad you've reviewed one! Want it even more now! And this one is even better with the fly bridge! Thanks so much Nick!
I think they have a style and quality of their own. I work and restore all different boats and nothing compares to the gel quality of these boats. They look very smart in the flesh and like you explain, so usable for people who actually want to go and explore. More creature comforts than the early days too, think Swiss chalet, not condo. Keep up the good work.
These boats are quite common in Greenland where they are used as pleasure boats and used for all sorts of charter and commercial work. They have a very thick and extremely rugged hull, that can take an immense amount of abuse. I've sailed in several cm thick ice with no problems and in boat sizes ranging from 25 to 44 feet. They are costly, but definitely worth it.
What a great boat. Had to visit the builder's website and check out their model range. The 37 looks great with very well thought out accomodations but looks to me like the Targa 44/46 is pretty close to the perfect boat. They should definitely look for dealers on the US east coast. Nice to see Maggie again!
I prefer the Sargo 36 as the engine access is motorised and in a reverse position, meaning I would not be at risk of falling off backwards into the sea if working on a problem unlike a Botnia Targa. Both fabulous boats to own.
I wish your channel was only boats meant to be used. I happened to have heard of this brand but there are so many brands in Europe not well represented here in the states. Your channel is super helpful in spreading awareness of them. I hate that the industry is dominated by impractical (and ugly, TBH) boats. I much prefer boats with capability and functionality rather than those that just exist to make others jealous. This boat is the definition of handsome.
Great Great Great boat that is, looks Nautical to the bone, very practical, useful for different variety of activities fishing , diving, weekender friends & family days out. love the small but very important detail that is the water hose next to the toilet in the AFT head, don't see them much in other boat manufacturers. lovely boat and excellent review. looking forward for more practical boats like this one. great job mate thanks

I hate that the industry is dominated by impractical (and ugly, TBH) boats.
I much prefer boats with capability and functionality rather than those that just exist to make others jealous.
This boat is the definition of handsome.
Miss this video when it was posted. Great boat and glad I found it. Thanks
Lovely boat. Every now and again I have to remind myself. The cost of this gem would buy a big posh house where I live.
Great Great Great boat that is, looks Nautical to the bone, very practical, useful for different variety of activities fishing , diving, weekender friends & family days out.
love the small but very important detail that is the water hose next to the toilet in the AFT head, don't see them much in other boat manufacturers.
lovely boat and excellent review.
looking forward for more practical boats like this one.
great job mate
thanks
