Sameee Uniqlo and Hana Tajima did a great collab. I wish more brands do the same thing bcs as much as i love Hana’s designs, we need more styles from other designers.
Exactly. Just clothes you would find in the store regularly, except longer sleeves, higher neckline, full length, etc. Modest clothing doesn't have to involve 'ethnic' or 'foreign' influence.
Tulip Purple I don’t mean to sound rude, I’m just asking because I’m confused... If we don’t want it to include ethnic clothes (which I totally agree with) that means we want it to include western clothes right but accommodated to our needs. So obviously they’re going to have longer sleeves, higher neckline and full length. I actually don’t mind that because I really like the things in store but get annoyed when the sleeves are short. Can somebody please explain?
But then isn’t there a difference in concept of modesty between different cultures ? For a western person a half sleeve dress that ends at the knee is still modest but if they have to make modest clothes for a Muslim they have to make clothes that cover the legs fully and the arms and the neck . It does become ethnic and religious . So either wear all clothes or atleast appreacite the effort they have made
I soo agree with dina! Why bother selling ethnic dresses when i can get them half price in my own community? H&M needs to learn from Uniqlo! It’s a Japanese clothing line and about 2-3 years ago, they collaborated with a muslim british-japanese designer to create a line of modest clothings! It’s really good!! They even have the essentials such as inner headscarf, scarf more more! The collection is chic and goes in line with the company’s market! Check it out!
I am not a modest fashion dresser by any means, but the see throughness of things drives me insane! If you're selling a casual top, I don't want to have to spend hours trying to find a bra that won't show or have to remember to wear the right color of underwear that won't show, or wear a tank top underneath! The point of having clothes is to cover your body. Having to wear another clothing underneath your clothing defeats the main purpose of clothing! I get having to do some underwear finangling with fancy dresses and special occasion stuff but a t-shirt or spring dress shouldn't require so much frickin work. They just wan't to make the clothing out of the cheapest materials possible. Ugh.
VioletteOrdinaire every white top I own I have to wear a nude or white tank top under or else my bra shows. And even then you can totally see the outline of my tank top!
H&M has always been "modest" so long as you put a long shirt under or whatever. I mean, I grew up in a religious Jewish community and we all shopped there because the stuff was not too pricey and with some thought could be made modest for Jewish standards. I get that other cultures might have more of a challenge, but this kinda strikes me as weird because they are making modesty an "ethnic" thing when it really doesn't have to be.
john smith oh I agree. Nothing would ever be modest enough for my mother. Hem is too high, neckline is too low, outfit is too tight that it shows my figure. Regardless of how long the things actually were.
So true. I don't believe in wearing a head covering, but I also don't dress to be alluring. Hubby teases me about it, but I have to do what is true for me. We all have our journey.
What I hate is that modest does not mean " look middle eastern" I'm Scandinavian/English but my religion( Mormon) requires modesty. I think that many of the clothes from the middle east are sooooo pretty and the workmanship is mind blowing . But I don't like to dress in those styles, they don't suit me . But I wish that the 2 didn't always go hand in hand. One can wear western clothes that cover up the bits you need covered. But it can be very hard to do .
Kori Emerson I always layer my clothing with shirts with longer sleeves, leggings, tank tops (to hide cleavage), and if I can’t avoid it for whatever reason, cardigans.
As a non Muslim who dresses modestly, its so annoying when I see a 'modest' collection and it's Arab and Pakistani/India style clothing. I just want a dress that covers my chest, shoulders and knees, I don't want to wear a kaftan 😂
Amy Connell yeah exactly, I think that this causes a lot of issues especially identity related issues for western Muslim women, you will find a lot of ladies and they literally start wearing ethnic clothing and all of this which is fine sometimes for a statement look but it goes way further than that, it also leads to a lot of confusion because then people assume that you are from that particular culture like if you’re wearing a particular thing I’ll get people coming up and asking me, oh are you Pakistani? Which all of that is totally fine but I just think that over all it perpetuates issues overtime if you’re having to dress like that on a daily basis
Have to agree with Dina. It's true when clothing line attempt to be modest they just give us the traditional muslim dress. What I would want when looking for modest clothes is long sleeve tops not tight or cropped cause everything is cropped these days with either a cute logo or simple design. It's espescially really hard to shop during the summer whereas the winter you can literally wear an oversized sweater and it's fine. However during summer you want something light yet covering and nice and affordable. I guess H and M really missed the mark😒
Ty for counting in all of us non muslim modest dressers. I dress modestly because thats how I am. Its a personal choice. But i dont want to have to wear 3 or 4 layers in summer so that I dont show off bits i dont want showing. Its bloody hot!
Whats wrong with associating modesty with Islam. Isnt that what we want ? And Islam is foreign to english, since its arabic innit. I dont see a problem.
Islam has no nationality. If the clothing they are selling is adaptations (some is just straight up cultural appropriation) of “Islamic Countries” cultural outfits it doesn’t make sense
As a Christian, I dress modestly but its incredibly hard to do without shopping online at specialty boutiques. I mean, you still want to look good, right?
Nah F Zara did you even hear how they treated an Asian customer from Calgary. They beat him up because he simply told them they miscalculated their order.
Rabia Khan if Dina did release more items, they wouldnt necessarily cost less than £20, simply because labour isn’t cheap. Primark, H&M and these “affordable” retailers only sell such cheap clothes because they produce and buy them in bulk, using super cheap Labour, thus making more profits despite selling most items of clothing for £10-£30. nevertheless Dinas clothing line would BE AMAZING 👌
Dina: "We're not asking brands to sell us what our cultures, around the world, have already invented..." Lol "Put some effort into it and do it properly... please, brands..." "Contact someone who's in the field. Contact peole who dress by these modest guidelines and actually ask for help." 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 That makes perfect BUSINESS sense.
As the biggest blogger in the UK, the question is, why didn’t they SEND you the collection? The fact that you had to shop it yourself shows how disconnected they actually are from the modest industry.
Mayu Marie I don’t think entitled at all. Most bloggers get collaborations with big brands that muslim bloggers don’t. So when it’s a modest range, it only makes sense. Remember that this is Dina’s job and she has a very big influence. H&M would have been smart to include her in their marketing.
I’m Catholic and wear a headscarf and (mostly) dress modestly. I hate how these brands try to say they are being inclusive BUT THE CLOTHES ARE JUST AS BAD AS THE REGULAR LINES! Don’t call it a modest line if your going to show just as much as “regular” clothing🙄🙄🙄
I love everything you said!!! And I’m so glad you were honest. I agree so much. I’m a Christian and I’m a modest dresser, I dont think it should even be ‘religion’ specific. Because it’s not only Muslims that are modest dressers. So it’s still not inclusive either way. It’s literally so half assed either way.
Nellah Grace Five seconds on your channel and I can tell with utmost certainty, you're in no way a modest dresser. You wear off shoulder tops, shorts, low cut tops, t shirts, sports bras and so on. Not to mention part of Christian modesty is not being vain. And having a TH-cam channel (with no Christian message) is the opposite of modest. It's vanity.
im a modest dresser..im Hindu and I agree as well.. it's really not religion specific..I agree..modest dressing doesn't have to be boring..I don't know why it's so hard!!! would be nice if they put an effort into it
Wait...what she wears does not make her point about non muslim modest dressers feeling excluded invalid. Can we use our intellect and evaluative reasoning instead of first impression judgements please.
Petition for Dina to create her own modest line. I realised me and her have same tastes as to modesty. All those other hijabi youtubers putting on facade as to these clothing lines and shops are "modest". Please dina release a clothing line!!!
Moe XD she did release a line few years ago. It was absolutely beautiful and I really wanted to buy it but it was out of budget range. One time I commented how expensive they were on her video and she replied saying something along the lines of how she doesn’t have the resources to mass produce and achieve low prices like brands such as H&M. So ideally these high end brands should do would Dina is saying and just alter the already existing clothes to make them modest. I hope they listen!!!!
Like their "conscious" line that's supposed to be eco-friendly although 90% of their items are polluting plastic based fabrics, use child and sweat shop labor and produce massive amounts of waste. H&M is all about the marketing..
It’s actually shocking how it’s 2018 and huge high street brands are STILL getting it so wrong when it comes to modest fashion 🤦🏽♀️ like you continuously said there are SOOOO many modest bloggers they should have worked with smh. Not buying any of this traditional clothing nonsense, I’d rather buy better, cuter clothes from Pakistan tysm xoxoxo
I'm glad she references non-muslim modest dressers too. Because I am realizing that there are non-muslim women who want to dress more modest too. Which for me, is my way of protesting society and these ratchet fabric pieces strung together and called clothes.
mychemicalclifford in my opinion, i dont think she is critiquing non modest clothing wearers, simply the clothing that is usually cheaply and unethically made, and due to holes, rips, crops, slits and thin material, falls apart easily and provides no warmth.
Yeah... I don't think following fast fashion which exploits women globally is a great way of aspiring to "modesty" and protesting society regardless of religion...
I actually first learned about modest dressing from super conservative Christian girls, and there seem to be a lot of completely non-religious people who aspire to the style as well...
I live in Japan, am married, and teach small children. I alwaysss wanna dress modest. Someone recommended a collection put out by Uniqlo in another comment so I'll look into it! :) But yeah, I think there are all kinds of people who want modest fashion.
If any brands out there is reading this comment; it’s very simple. We Muslim women want as many options and we get excited about colours as much as other women. What we want is for clothing items not to be see through, sleeveless or with random holes in the thighs or cleavage area. We don’t have an aversion to bright colours and no, we don’t want shapeless potato sacks. We also need blouses that are regular sized and not touching our knees for trousers or skirts. It doesn’t always have to cover our hips. We will take care of that on our own. Thank you very much. Here is an idea; hire modern Muslim women to design these cloths rather than selling us clothing that people in villages of random Muslim countries wear. As Dina says, we can get that stuff for a lot cheaper from those countries but we don’t live there so we need the modern touch of something that is worth our money.
eff it, i'm not even religious and even I want clothes to not " be see through, sleeveless or with random holes in the thighs or cleavage area.". like i'd choose a random cute top from the rack, get it on, and discover my bra slightly shows through and i get mad because these companies can't be arsed to make tops that aren't from thin rag material.
Pakistani clothes are amazing from casual to classy formals. The fabric quality is excellent too as the weather in Pakistan, summers are hot ,but still women dress smartly and modestly...No holes etc, like I said all kind of fabrics is available in Pakistan....for all kind of weather.
I love Dina's honesty so much. It's so refreshing honestly, she's so real. She was spitting straight facts about what annoys her with brands and their modest collections. You better preach it sis.
As an American revert, I would feel so weird about wearing cultural pieces that are not part of my culture. Not because I don't like them but because it would feel like appropriation. I just want modest options in what I would normally wear. Shirts that aren't see through, etc. Thanks for the vid, Dina! The H&M site for the US is the same, no mention of the collection.
ROCKYZ ROCKYX and who are you to tell about islam if you're not even a muslim? Everyone is free to follow whatever they want just as you are so stfu. Thanks.
Sarah Belleque-Price I understand you, nowadays there are British Muslims, American Muslims etc American has their own culture, and I understand that your trying to stay modest but still have the American culture in it. Because most of the modest clothes you see comes from Muslim countries, and the thing is, you guys need to make your own. Start making modest clothes in America and others, but also you want to represent British, American (Muslim) because the world will be boring if you just see Muslims wear middle eastern clothes,
It wouldn’t be appropriation if you wear cultural pieces! You’re wearing them with the intention of being modest so I’m sure most would be super appreciative and accepting of that!! No worries. But if you’re looking for long tunics/long pants you could look on modanisa.com
Sarah Belleque-Price Salaam I don't think you should feel that way. If you like something, then just wear it. I don't understand. You're not thinking: "eurk it looks disgusting on these people, but on me it looks great cause im white or whatever"...you just appreciate someone else's culture. I'm moroccan, and it makes very happy and proud even when someone from another culture wears a djellaba, a caftan or a sirwal. Just like I like wearing skirts or turbans with african prints.....
I'm so glad that a person with such a huge platform puts our opinions across for us so thanks for making that clear. We don't need what we already can get, we just want some clothing to be alternated for everyone to wear. So many times I've liked dresses and clothing but I couldn't buy it because of are length or bottom length etc.
You don't mind your buisness in Islam. We have as brothers ans sisters to pray and tell our brothers and sisters when they are doing something wrong because we want the best for them and we want to see them in paradise in sha Allah. Abu Sa’eed al-Khudree (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say, “Whosoever of you sees an evil, let him change it with his hand; and if he is not able to do so, then [let him change it] with his tongue; and if he is not able to do so, then with his heart - and that is the weakest of faith.” [Muslim]. Of course here the meaning of evil is a sin or something bad. We are one oummah and we will be judge by Allah for not telling our brothers and sisters.
Arbn I agree. We have the religious duty to inform her and it is up to her to decide. There is a Hadith which says if you do a ‘camel hump’ hijab, the person will never enter paradise or smell its fragrance
Arbn is it informing though when you know that the person already knows that her actions are wrong and thousands of people have already told her? She explained herself so many times. She said she knew it wasn't right but it was the best she can do right now. So all these comments don't seem informative anymore but intrusive...
faya fardowsa juhaya I’m sorry how on Earth are you saying hijab isn’t compulsory when it’s in the Quran and Hadith???????🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ ‘You make no sense’
Arbn Dina has been wearing a scarf for the majority of her life, she knows what's right. The way Muslims treat other Muslims will never cease to amaze me, you'd think we are all against each other. Show her some respect and let her go on her own Islamic journey as we all will.
I totally agree with you and It cheeses me a bit because I am a convert and I have no desire to appropriate middle eastern culture. I just want a longer skirt or dress that doesn’t make me look like I just stepped out of the sixties. Too much to ask??
Bachra Kateb cultural appropriation vs cultural appreciation; appropriation is when brands profit off cultures without limits. Did you know brands patent clothing styles from developing and under developing countries, which literally destroyed their economy through fines and lawsuits. Appropriation is when you make fun of a brown man’s accent while running around calling yourself an Indian because you have a bindi tacked on your forehead. Appreciation is when you understand the culture and well appreciate it. Culture can be shared but it shouldn’t be exploited for one’s pleasure and entertainment.
I agree but their clothes are tooo expensive and as a company they are racist... I know cause I worked there. It was horrific for a Muslim employee. No opportunities for growth and managers treat you like shit unless you go smoke with them.also not very accommodating with schedules Edit: hey guys I didn’t mean to make this reply about ME but its interesting to see how much money we spend on this company being forthcoming in modest fashion but all they stand for is cheap labor in western as well as in third world countries.
I'm happy to hear that its not just me that found this 'collection' lacking. I'm in the states and when I went online to look at this collection I didn't see anything that stood out and that I found worth buying. Secondly it took forever to find the 'modest fashion' collection on the HM site! Kinda frustrating.. Thanks Dina, for biting the bullet and buying some items and reviewing them to let us know how they wear and feel!
that's how i feel about plus size clothes..i want the same style..but nooooo I get grandma clothes! As soon as you click plus size...it's garbage! So I feel you! And I prefer to dress modest and I'm not Muslim.
Sick and tired of all these shallow people always constantly criticising and pin pointing at hijabis. The struggle of wearing it in this society is enough, we honestly do not need your comments. Keep it to yourself, I beg. WE KNOW.
I am hijabi. I have never struggled to wearing in my society which is in Canada. If you focus on the real reason which is for Allah and no one else, you wouldn’t have problem. However, Muslim girls focus on fashion, comparing themselves to other girls and how you can attract a guy. Those are just few reason some girls have difficulties in wearing hijab. You forgot main reason, it’s Allah, wherever you live, Allah is around. You must be confident on your faith or you will stray. Just know, people who know they doing wrong and do it, they will be punished far worst than those who do it in ignorance. Dina knows her reason, probably knows she shouldn’t be showing hair or neck. Earth has free will, there is two paths on earth and you have until you die to change to right path.
I‘m actually fuming bc of these see through shirts!! When there‘s 30 degrees outside i don‘t want to wear an extra top under this freaking top, do these things even get tested on real people before they‘re mass produced???
Hey Dina, don't compromise your integrity for anyone. You were spot on in regards to modest fashion and fashion houses appropriation. Could you do a video on the modest essentials every gal should have? I'm curious as to what your picks would be. Thanks again for being you! xoxo
There are Jewish and Christian modest dresses too. I don’t know why brands don’t get it. I’m so tired of see through and tight clothing. I personally like to dress a bit more modestly and I end up shopping in thrift stores most of the time. Clothes that are at least 10 years old are made so much better
This is so true. I bought an H&M top and after the first wash (it had stated that it could be handwashed) , the colors had faded and looked like a piece of rag 😖 Waste of money for such a bad quality.
Charlotte Mulcahy Absolutely. Not to mention the poor worker's conditions and ecological impact they have. Like most chains they are shit when it comes to that, cheap prices mean cheap production of course... however their sizes run really small in many pieces I've noticed, many other chains have a way more realistic sizing or the cuts are better if you have any curves. I'm EU size 38 in all stores but in H&M I'm like 42, in trousers at least. Which is their second largest size! It makes me feel so huge and bad although I'm normal weight.
Great video Dina! And I couldn't agree with you more with the H&M outfit. The lilac kaftan / dress is nothing which we haven't been seeing for years, your constructive criticism was stop on and I feel as they have put zero effort in the outfit.
Honestly! I’m so glad I came across this video bc I’m not religious BUT I don’t like to expose as much body as the clothes are designed today so your idea of making their styles that they already create and do a modest version is absolutely freaken brilliant!!!! If this concept can make it into store I would be insanely happy! I would actually pray for that to happen! Lol 🙏
The moment you acknowledge that there are many woman out there who are not Muslim but are modest dressing made me instantly give y a like. Thank you for acknowledging people out there in general without highlighting just one race or religion.
I agree with you on the most part but I do have to say that I'm not entirely hating on H&M for this. I'm glad that modesty is being brought to the high street because I don't have access to many 'cultural/religious' stores (I don't know how else to put that) and buying modest pieces online can be expensive and they ship from far away. So although I'm not a huge fan of the H&M collection, I'm hopeful for their future modest collections and the fact that this will drive other high street stores to do the same.
Shouldn’t muslim women be allowed to have opinions regarding modesty, *hijab* etc. without being targeted by the modesty police? The comments about “proper hijab” are so dead! Stay focused on the topic people. 🙄 Excellent point about introducing the addition of basics, I totally agree. 👌🏼💞
Guys please can we stop commentating on her hijab. It's the month of Ramadan for God's sake! I think we all know that her hijab isn't perfect and I am 100% sure Dina is aware of this also. She obviously isn't going to change it just because some random person told her to. Instead why don't we pray for her and all other Muslim women that inshaAllah they do observe hijab properly and that God makes it easier for them. No point leaving nasty comments under every picture and video.
Zoey N it just doesn’t help anyone by criticizing her! It’s so frustrating. The people doing it are not doing it in a proper way, making comments like that will not make her change at all and also it deters non hijabis from putting it on because they are afraid of judgement from both the rest of society and the Muslim community! It drives me nuts
Anluxe M please stop assuming like that, it's not nice. dina is old enough to make decisions on her own, we're not to judge her or to spread gossip about her or her family
She doesn't need praying for, she is doing nothing wrong, and even if she was, she hasn't asked you to pray for her, and even if she did, your prayers won't do anything.
Sana Al Actually she is doing something wrong. It may seem like a minor thing but the fact is that women must cover their hair and neck as well as the rest of their body. Now unless you have spent your life and soul studying Islam then I'm afraid you can't argue the fact. Also I don't agree with the people who constantly harass her under every video as it is her choice on how to live her life but at the same time we ARE supposed to pray for each other's guidance and the Muslim Ummah as a whole.
YESS!!! I was waiting ages! I’m currently waiting till iftaar...smelling the food from the kitchen, dying to eat. Anyway let’s carry on with the video. Have a great iftaar guys! 😂❤️
I think all this brand need to learn from Uniqlo Hana Tajima Collection in order to cater to modest fashion. Uniqlo did a wonderful collection for it.
FalconDiaries Aokira I was just about to say the same thing!
Sameee Uniqlo and Hana Tajima did a great collab. I wish more brands do the same thing bcs as much as i love Hana’s designs, we need more styles from other designers.
they killed it pretty quick though didn't they?
FalconDiaries Aokira I dont understand why Dina put air quotes around “accidental” about h&m?
Can you please send us a link to the pants please. I’m actually digging the jacquard pants with the bottom embellishments, pleeeassse Dina. 🙏🏽
Exactly. Just clothes you would find in the store regularly, except longer sleeves, higher neckline, full length, etc.

I love their inner headscarf

Amy Montgomery white pants or just better light coloured bathing clothings that become transparent when contacting water 😑
VioletteOrdinaire every white top I own I have to wear a nude or white tank top under or else my bra shows.
And even then you can totally see the outline of my tank top!
Hear, hear. Everyone has occasions when they prefer to dress modest.
Preaaacch!!!
Amy Montgomery I've literally searched for white tops from country to country, they're all see-through 😒😔
H&M has always been "modest" so long as you put a long shirt under or whatever.
Chana Weinstein yeah, but you have to admit, it's always annoying to wear layers. So if H&M made life easier for us, why not, y'know?
john smith oh I agree. Nothing would ever be modest enough for my mother. Hem is too high, neckline is too low, outfit is too tight that it shows my figure. Regardless of how long the things actually were.
Chana Weinstein lol my mum is the same
Chana Weinstein sweet. You could always wear a cardboard box.
ArtistProtagonist my mum would love that actually
Thank you Dina for saying that dressing modestly doesn't always mean wearing a headscarf. It is not something that is put out there enough !
Celia B
Thanks Ceia B that is so true.
So true. I don't believe in wearing a head covering, but I also don't dress to be alluring. Hubby teases me about it, but I have to do what is true for me. We all have our journey.
You’re great! I’m not a modest dresser -per-say - but i too HATE when the lining doesn’t go to the bottom of a dress!!
You make an extremely valid point Kori.
Kori Emerson have a look at "cos" and "uniqlo" they usually have modest longer shirts or wider tops etc
Sarah Da right ..uniq lo is what I live in,perfect stylish and modest
Someone else made the same point. Love this point.
I get you hahahah
Haha I'm Indian and I understand! I felt uncomfortable wearing short shorts and longer shorts that are cute are SO HARD to find
Then if you wear it you get accused of cultural appropriation 🙄
Amy Connell yeah exactly, I think that this causes a lot of issues especially identity related issues for western Muslim women, you will find a lot of ladies and they literally start wearing ethnic clothing and all of this which is fine sometimes for a statement look but it goes way further than that, it also leads to a lot of confusion because then people assume that you are from that particular culture like if you’re wearing a particular thing I’ll get people coming up and asking me, oh are you Pakistani? Which all of that is totally fine but I just think that over all it perpetuates issues overtime if you’re having to dress like that on a daily basis
loading1345 you could cut up a pair of jeans to a length you’re comfortable with?
Have to agree with Dina. It's true when clothing line attempt to be modest they just give us the traditional muslim dress. Laura's Life FINAAAAALLLYYYY SOMEONE WHO UNDERSTANDS ME 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻UR SO DAMN RIGHT
YESSS why should modest be « ethnic » ? It basically says and reinforce the idea that modesty=Islam=foreign which is very problematic ! 😑
Whats wrong with associating modesty with Islam. Isnt that what we want ? And Islam is foreign to english, since its arabic innit. I dont see a problem.
Islam has no nationality. If the clothing they are selling is adaptations (some is just straight up cultural appropriation) of “Islamic Countries” cultural outfits it doesn’t make sense
grace Betz Islam isn't the only religion that dresses modestly though, some people of forget religions believe in modesty too
As a Christian, I dress modestly but its incredibly hard to do without shopping online at specialty boutiques. I mean, you still want to look good, right?
Jocelyn exactly!!!
I completely agree with your opinion. but I think Zara is actually doing quite a good job with making regular high street clothing more modest.
Groupie They are also good at cultural appropriation.
Amal E you’re right
Nah F Zara did you even hear how they treated an Asian customer from
Calgary. They beat him up because he simply told them they miscalculated their order.
Groupie I agree that’s why I mostly shop there
Groupie I love Zara
7:51..... ur welcome
Thank you! God bless you! ❤️❤️
Thanks!
maybe you should express yourself more respectful
It would be awesome if u launch your own modest fashion line... making it actually ‘modest’, affordable and yet stylish!
She did, "Dina Torkia"! :)
Rabia Khan check out modest.barbie on instagram
Dinas lazy
Dina:
"We're not asking brands to sell us what our cultures, around the world, have already invented..." Lol
"Put some effort into it and do it properly... please, brands..."
"Contact someone who's in the field. Contact peole who dress by these modest guidelines and actually ask for help."
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
That makes perfect BUSINESS sense.
As the biggest blogger in the UK, the question is, why didn’t they SEND you the collection? The fact that you had to shop it yourself shows how disconnected they actually are from the modest industry.
Seratonin___ soo true!!!
Mayu Marie I think it actually would have been good advertising for H&M to get modest b/vloggers on board.
Seratonin___ thats a veryyy good point
Seratonin___ this is facts!!
Don’t call it a modest line if your going to show just as much as “regular” clothing🙄🙄🙄
alaynamiranda samesy
maybe you should express your opinion more respectful
I just love how opinionated you both are! And it's not ignorant and plucked out of the sky. You're grounded, level headed and make educated points!
Nellah Grace no offence but you don’t dress modestly in your videos...
It's vanity.
mochibabe Exactly, she wears regular clothes. Lots of them showing skin.
im a modest dresser..im Hindu and I agree as well.. it's really not religion specific..I agree..modest dressing doesn't have to be boring..I don't know why it's so hard!!! would be nice if they put an effort into it
Wait...what she wears does not make her point about non muslim modest dressers feeling excluded invalid.
Loveroon awwww dang. I hope so too!
Kickstarter or indiegogo could help! :D
I feel like they literally did this JUST for the marketing. And it’s bad.
H&Ms employees are primarily muslim. I don't think they need to prove anything.
Alfred Luk It doesn't reflect at all.
Isn't that how 100% of the world works?
Alfred Luk lol what a load of lies
Like their "conscious" line that's supposed to be eco-friendly although 90% of their items are polluting plastic based fabrics, use child and sweat shop labor and produce massive amounts of waste. H&M is all about the marketing..
The first 'dress' is litteraly a moroccan pyjama. 10 euros on the markets in morocco🤚
Pocahontas doll I agree with you I have 3 as my PJ LOL
8 € in the market in France ! 😂
H&M should’ve collaborated with you to design their modest clothing.
I would've jumped on this collection so hard if Dinah had been involved, you know it would've been killer.
Kate A is she can get her ego up even more? I dont understand why Dina put air quotes around “accidental” about h&m?
Arch what is you're problem?? What ego??
Kate A maybe just forget about islam and dress like a normal person...
Agree
I'm glad she references non-muslim modest dressers too. Because I am realizing that there are non-muslim women who want to dress more modest too. Which for me, is my way of protesting society and these ratchet fabric pieces strung together and called clothes.
Khalidah Kamal it's great you're modest but don't shame not being modest lol that's just rude cmon
mychemicalclifford in my opinion, i dont think she is critiquing non modest clothing wearers, simply the clothing that is usually cheaply and unethically made, and due to holes, rips, crops, slits and thin material, falls apart easily and provides no warmth.
I love how she keeps looking off camera and going "RIGHT SID?!?" and you can just hear him chuckle a bit
amal khateeb l
The fabric quality is excellent too as the weather in Pakistan, summers are hot ,but still women dress smartly and modestly...No holes etc, like I said all kind
of fabrics is available in Pakistan....for all kind of weather.
I love Dina's honesty so much. It's so refreshing honestly, she's so real. She was spitting straight facts about what annoys her with brands and their modest collections. You better preach it sis.
i love that you are so real and won't fake-praise a brand just to get sponsorships, love and appreciate you ❤️
Why did I think that the h&m bag was her pregnant stomach 😂
Modest doesn't mean boring
As an American revert, I would feel so weird about wearing cultural pieces that are not part of my culture. Not because I don't like them but because it would feel like appropriation. I just want modest options in what I would normally wear. Shirts that aren't see through, etc. Thanks for the vid, Dina! The H&M site for the US is the same, no mention of the collection.
ROCKYZ ROCKYX and who are you to tell about islam if you're not even a muslim? Everyone is free to follow whatever they want just as you are so stfu. Thanks.
Sarah Belleque-Price I understand you, nowadays there are British Muslims, American Muslims etc
American has their own culture, and I understand that your trying to stay modest but still have the American culture in it.
Sarah Belleque-Price same here as a UK revert
I'm so glad that a person with such a huge platform puts our opinions across for us so thanks for making that clear. We don't need what we already can get, we just want some clothing to be alternated for everyone to wear. So many times I've liked dresses and clothing but I couldn't buy it because of are length or bottom length etc.
Confused as to why everyone's concerned with dina' s hijab. She's a grown woman and can make her own decisions. Mind your business.
I swear Dina's "Hi guys" is so uplifting makes my heart so happy
I totally agree with you and It cheeses me a bit because I am a convert and I have no desire to appropriate middle eastern culture.
I just want a longer skirt or dress that doesn’t make me look like I just stepped out of the sixties.
Too much to ask??
Hatou Camara huh?
Bachra Kateb cultural appropriation vs cultural appreciation; appropriation is when brands profit off cultures without limits. Did you know brands patent clothing styles from developing and under developing countries, which literally destroyed their economy through fines and lawsuits. Appropriation is when you make fun of a brown man’s accent while running around calling yourself an Indian because you have a bindi tacked on your forehead. Appreciation is when you understand the culture and well appreciate it. Culture can be shared but it shouldn’t be exploited for one’s pleasure and entertainment.
Dina, I have so much respect for you speaking honestly and not compromising your integrity.
When you said 70quid I almost had a heart attack. Blimey.
It would be great to be able to see the clothes.
I can’t wait till Hanas new sibling!! Insha’Allah it will all go well, I love you Dina! 💜
Nari Khan ?
I love the level of honesty and constructive criticism that will actually help the brands a ton!!
Zara is quite on the lead on making the clothes more modest😁 but anyways Ramadan Kareem ❤️
I agree but their clothes are tooo expensive and as a company they are racist... I know cause I worked there. It was horrific for a Muslim employee. No opportunities for growth and managers treat you like shit unless you go smoke with them.also not very accommodating with schedules
Edit: hey guys I didn’t mean to make this reply about ME but its interesting to see how much money we spend on this company being forthcoming in modest fashion but all they stand for is cheap labor in western as well as in third world countries.
mystic myra do you Work in the uk?
I disagree. I would say uniqlo is more modest.
mystic myra am really sorry to hear that 😭 I hope u get a better job ❤️❤️
Molana M thanks ❤️ I did afterwords!
Preach girl preach! Dina is so honest and I love it!
H&M think that they’re coming out with all these new styles when we’ve been wearing these for yearsssss
Brands deffo need Dina’s input 💯
One of the best videos i've ever seen on your channel, Dina. Good job ❤️😘
Uniqlo has some reallyyy great modest basics and good pieces 👌🏾
Tru but they tend to b way less trendy because they do their collections 2 years in advance unlike most fast fashion brands
natalieweb1 uniqlo is excellent
Dina this is one of your best videos I’ve ever watched
7:50 is when she starts showing the first item
Mona Mohamed ok thank you
I never knew this! this video was so interesting!
Those earrings give me Pat Butcher vibes 😂😂
Ambreen lmao. Is she still in enders 🤣🤣🤣
Omg your look is sooooo amazing, I think you always look put together but this look is my favorite
Video took ages to load but was frozen on Dina with her mouth wiiiide open and I felt like it was building extreme tension towards the ‘HI GUYS’ 🤣
I read the title to this video, I clicked it and started listening. Subscribed immediately. I love youuuu. You’re brilliant.
that's how i feel about plus size clothes..i want the same style..but nooooo I get grandma clothes! As soon as you click plus size...it's garbage! So I feel you! And I prefer to dress modest and I'm not Muslim.
Aha Dina you never fail to entertain me! I LOOOVEE your honesty! 🙌
Sick and tired of all these shallow people always constantly criticising and pin pointing at hijabis. The struggle of wearing it in this society is enough, we honestly do not need your comments. Keep it to yourself, I beg. WE KNOW.
nasreen ahmed i feel like many people who are commenting are also hijabis since many of the comments are from girls
The lighting changes at about 15:15 and it looks so good 😍😍
I‘m actually fuming bc of these see through shirts!! When there‘s 30 degrees outside i don‘t want to wear an extra top under this freaking top, do these things even get tested on real people before they‘re mass produced???
Terry
Im fuming too. Cheap-azz clothes industry. They make the cheapest cuts and fabric hoping to capitalize off people trying to be trendy I guess.
I agree so much with you and seeing you shamelessly showing your opinion makes me smiles, sounds cliche but you’re so inspiring
ZARA did the same thing and tried selling a traditional somali dress “diraac” for £40 as a tie-dye maxi dress
bulletproof two moons hp
U just said everything that i haven't been able to put in words for yeaarrssss! You go girl!
Totally agree with the comment about the shitty quality of clothing that brands that want us to pay extortionate prices for.
Hey Dina, don't compromise your integrity for anyone. You were spot on in regards to modest fashion and fashion houses appropriation. Could you do a video on the modest essentials every gal should have? I'm curious as to what your picks would be. Thanks again for being you! xoxo
watching dinas videos makes me feel like we're legit having a convo lmao
I love your honesty, Dinaaaa !!!! ❤
Omg I know this is off topic but I have to know where that sweater/Top that she’s wearing is from! It’s so pretty - does anyone know ?
This needs to go viral ASAP brands needs to watch this. Yet again another great video with Dina speaking what’s on our minds 👌🏼👌🏼💪🏽
There are Jewish and Christian modest dresses too. I don’t know why brands don’t get it. I’m so tired of see through and tight clothing. I personally like to dress a bit more modestly and I end up shopping in thrift stores most of the time. Clothes that are at least 10 years old are made so much better
this is my first video of yours that im watching and im in love with you and your content, keep up the work love!
Dina, if im totally honest with you, you might as well, design your own MODEST BRAND....honesty it would BE SOOO GOOD!!!!!!☺
Dina, Ramadan Kareem! Yo! You hit ALL the nails on the head. This video was every thought I've had about clothes. Thank you!
I'm not Muslim but I couldn't agree more!!! Love your channel xx
If I could love this video a thousand times, I would! Thank you for voicing what I have been thinking forever!
YASSSSS! Was looking for something to watch to help pass time till iftar
Amina Ahmed mee too 😂😂😂
Amina Ahmed Saaaameee giiirl saaame
Same
Omg haha same
Me😂
Wherea her turban from or is it a wrap style??? If its a wrap style pls tell me where i czn find it 😍😍😍
H&M has always been trash for quality and sizes of clothing
Charlotte Mulcahy ain't that the truth
Sooo true!!! Especialy the sizes 😏
I'm 14 and very small but I fit in a 10 in some things in H&M little girls could probably wear the size 6's.
EXACTLY don't half ass it!!!!!! Dina you straight as hell about these things I love it , make your voice heard!
Great video Dina! And I couldn't agree with you more with the H&M outfit. The lilac kaftan / dress is nothing which we haven't been seeing for years, your constructive criticism was stop on and I feel as they have put zero effort in the outfit.
This is my first video I've seen from you and I have just absolutely fallen in love with you and your personality! Subscribed!
Say it louder for the people in the back, TRUTHHHHHH H&M better watch this
Lol 🙏
You can get that halfa** lilac "kaftan" for 5$ or less, in morocco.
I cant believe someone actually talked about this!! I've been saying this forever and you are spot on and funny as heck!!!!!
“ that looks like those guys over there” That’s SPOT on Dina
I just stumbled upon your channel... I’m obsessed. You have such a beautiful personality!
You said nothing but the TRUTH Dina wow 👏H&M take notes please
Amal S l
Hiii, I love your videos and I wanted to know where you got your marble sweatshirt
I hope this goes viral because brands need to know the perspective from the light of a modest fashion blogger.
5 minutes in, i agree! Hate the ethnic and traditional influence on 'modern fashion ' !!!!
where are your jumper and earrings from? love your outfit
I agree with you, I’m just concerned that her sister 2c has this influence on her. It must be really hard on Dina
Gurl, your outfit SLAYING!
YESS!!! I was waiting ages! I’m currently waiting till iftaar...smelling the food from the kitchen, dying to eat. Anyway let’s carry on with the video. Have a great iftaar guys! 😂❤️
Na Mooh ;D
Dina you're on fire in this. I love it!
