quick question. do you still have quite a bit of tannin in that pond in the video if you compare a clear bottle of tap water to a bottle of pond water, despite your great wetland filter? I despite lots of effort, checks and balances , wetland/organic filter, cleaning etc, UV, bio-mech-chem-filter, shade, feeding etc, have a light yellow tinge in my water compared to a clear bottle of tap water. I hope with time, cleaning, more bacteria, my water will eventually stabilise and be crystal clear

I have had my current pond for three years. The first year I used an Uv light to help withe the cloudy water with a small 3 × 3 planted bog filter. Updated the bog last year and after the light burned out I never replaced. This year the water has stayed crystal clear. Great video 👍

That's nice. I want to do a pond about the same size. I'm using undergravel pipes with airlift system (which i will introduce a filter in between the up pipe) also i will have plants... it's a pond mainly for small birds that will drink the water. Now i'm thinking in adding a couple fish, so i'm definetely looking to understand the bog filter you have there. Is quite big and perfect for plants... i'm trying to think of many ways to incorporate in order to have clear water

    A few questions:
    1. The white pipe we see on the bog is the feeder pipe from pond? And it opens up at the bottom of bog i guess.
    2. Could you explain how the cleanup pipes have been installed and the big pipe.
    Any diagram shall help.
    3. Lastly, how to you manage ammonia?
    Cheers from India 👍

Be careful with those angular rocks in the bog filter. They can lock together and reduce water flow. Round rocks have bigger passageways and wont clog as easily as angular rocks!

All I’ve been able to find to use is elephant ears, which die in the winter or my turtle eats them. Could you help me by telling me what kind of plants that I can use that will live in water?

    • @DanTheTurtleMan_
