- Subprime mortgage crisis or credit crisis of 2008 happened due to mortgage backed securities and financial deregulation. It created housing bubble, which burst in 2008.
In 1999 glass steagall act was removed by President Clinton, which restricted banks from investment/trading activities. So, after 1999 all major banks in United States started doing business with Investment banks. They were selling all their mortgages to investment banks.
The investment banks were selling asset backed securities in the form of collateralized debt obligation to common public. AIG came with credit default swap.
One day the - bubble burst.
A must study for CFA Level 1, cfa Level 2 and FRM level 1 lecture notes.

The difference in NSE and BSE of a share might not get off-set on a single day.
So if we sell first, we have to close that trade within the same day. How will arbitrage work in that case? there is no guaranteed profit right??

Recently read about a trader who bought 3000 lots of nifty option at strike of 8600 for 0.05 paise on the expiry day when the nifty spot was below 8600 and it got executed and before market closure nifty rose to 8602.75.so now he was in profit of about 6 lakhs .but he could not exit the position as there were no buyers for it. So it got exercised and he ended up paying 18 lakhs due to STT. how to avoid such situation ?

How can we know which stocks are the FIIs and DIIs have invested into or will be interested to invest in? Why many a times FII and DII take a counter stance? As in FIIs buy more and DIIs sell more in the same session!
