I don't understand the trials of being a TH-camr any more than I understand the challenges of being a farmer. I just hope you never completely stop being either. Your channel has given me the gift of being able to vicariously enjoy a life that I have always idealized, but have never had the opportunity (or perhaps the gumption) to pursue. Yours is the only such channel that I have found that bastes everything in wholesome warmness and love of the life. Your day-in-the-lifesque style makes all the difference. Honestly, I could watch you cut, ted and bail hay all day long. I must have seen them all 50 times. And I can't wait for the R-170 restoration! Sincerely, thank you for your channel.

    Hi Pete-
I’m a detective at a sheriff’s office, and I just wanted to drop a note and tell you how much I appreciate you and your channel. When I’ve had a hard or sad day at work like I have had the last couple of days, coming home and turning on your channel and watching with my 10 year old son (who is a Farmall fanatic) is much needed time to decompress and de-stress. Keep doing what you’re doing. We appreciate you!

Pete, you and Hillary are my favorite farm channel because you are clean, humble, and intelligent folks. A nice family. You’re a great story teller as well as a very good cinematographer. You’re always respectful of your audience and I’m sorry to hear they are not always the same back at you. You deserve better just based on your jokes alone. Your explanation of tractor renovation is fascinating and your knowledge of the subject is awe inspiring. The first tractor I watched being restored in my like was the M and when you finished I was in love. What a thing of beauty the whole series was for me, for anyone to try to tell you a better way to do anything is inconceivable. Thank you for sharing your wonderful farm and world with me. I am grateful and I look forward to watching anything you choose to share with us. You are a highlight of my week.

Awe Pete...the drone shots of the farm and the background music - yeah definitely a big plus on top of the projects you're doing along with the day to day running of the farm. It's really good. A lot of the TH-cam channels I watch and have a great following are those that use their drones for the scenery and have nice music. It's almost a like taking the audience on a personal journey or vacation. Your farm is beautiful along with the farmland there in the Finger lakes. Thanks for taking us along on a Sunday morning!!!

Andrew Camarata is also a favorite You Tube creator for me. I marvel at his tenacity when building the shipping container castle or building the road up the mountain to his other property. You have your own style of telling a story and I think the viewers who watch would do so regardless of what you are doing, your style will always come through.

Hi Peter. I have watched Andrew Camarata since he established his channel. He doesn't cover up his mistakes. One of my favorite videos is when he saw his tire go rolling past him. My wife and I started watching your channel from its beginning four years ago. Typically we'll watch four or more of your videos each evening; these videos keep us "grounded". Please know we really enjoy and appreciate your endeavors; we love you and Hillarie and we keep you in our prayers.

    Pete,
Your videos are, in my opinion, are among the top 2 or 3 percent of those I choose to watch. Your verity within your chosen subject is amazing and are done very well. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. There always seems to be those who, sadly choose to look at life and the world in a negative and downbeat way. Your voice is one of steady unhurried reason and unhurried steady progress. Improve where you feel it necessary, but for those who have come to value your content and what you give of yourself, don't fix what isn't broken. Bless you and the family and stay safe/🥰😃😃

Pete, for every bad commenter there are 1000 people that do not comment and love what you do. I always find your videos to be uplifting. I’m constantly amazed at your knowledge of machines and animals. Now, as I said, I don’t post on every video, but I watch almost every video. All I can say about the negative comments would be that some people are only happy when they’re trying to bring other people down. I can guarantee you that more people enjoy watching your videos. I understand that it’s hard to shut out some negative comments, but just remember they do not represent the majority.

Whenever I see a video from you, Pete, I know it will be a peek into your daily routine and happenings, diligent, yet serene. It's a fresh breeze from the country. It feels like the end of a summer day on a farm. A person sits down outside for a moment to watch the light go mellow and the west pinken. If you're lucky and there is a moon coming up, meadowlarks love to awaken and whistle at it. The crickets start trying to outdo the cicadas, and they eventually win. If you sit long enough thinking over the day, later there will be an owl or a whippoorwill call. When the lightning bugs start winking in the tall grass, it's time to go in the house, put on a lamp of your own, and read a little before bed. If you don't live on a farm, you can watch Pete. To the rest of my fellow peekers, just let Pete do his thing. He's got this.

I volunteered 4 hours yesterday at the Harnett Food Pantry in Lillington NC. Maybe we had 8 volunteers today. 125 ppl got food, and 12 new ppl had to fill out paperwork. But they got food. I filled boxes with canned food, 4 bags of different dry beans, juices, pulled port meat frozen, rock fish strips that are frozen, eggs, cookies, fresh vegetables, bag of granny apples, frozen Birdseye mixed vegetables, and much more, Boxes are heavy. Seniors get an extra box of selected canned food, and block of cheese. I am tired. Work today for another 4 hours. Young women with kids in the car. They ask for milk but no available. To all farmers, thank you that provide eggs, chicken, and garden vegetables.

Regarding the comments you get from "those folks", I worked in prisons for nearly 30 years. Mostly, in Texas. The inmates were the easy part. Their families were never happy. 5% of the employees were always miserable and very loud about it. The higher up in rank I went, the worse it got. The direct line to the leadership in Huntsville made the job unbearable. So, I retired early and started farming. Best job I ever had.

Without a doubt that truck's purpose is to be an attraction at the farmer’s market. I appreciate how crowded it is at the farmers market and that a big truck is difficult to maneuver. But it would not be a difficult task to shorten the wheelbase. It is basically just cut, reinforce and weld the two frame rails and the drive shaft. Cut the wheelbase down till you have an 8 foot (or less) flatbed and it would have a smaller turning radius than your new truck. You could retrofit power steering if you felt the need. Just my opinion, but I think a short stubby, yet stout classic truck looks cool.

Pete, it's completely understandable that you need a break, after all this is your job, your profession, your daily grind and like all working people you need a holiday from time to time.
You show us all the ins and outs of your farm but we still only see the glossy bits, not the late nights editing, bookwork, farm compliance issues, monetary stress etc, and then a whole bunch of people watching and enjoying but also (hopefully a small few) telling you what you do wrong. It would be a tough gig. So from this long time viewer, if you decide to take a 'holiday' for a week or two go right ahead, we fans will still be here and eagerly anticipating that new upload.
Thanks for the entertainment and education!

I grew up 1/2 mile from a dairy farm, but haven’t lived near a farm since 1979. So it’s just wonderful to watch you doing your daily chores, talking to the cows, telling Hillary bad jokes, and working on your old (gorgeous) tractors. You’re an Everyman and a jack of all trades (MUCH respect for this!), and you help us renew our faith in mankind. Please! Let the unfriendly comments roll off your back like water off a duck - or like the water will roll off the barn roof into the new curtain drain! 😂 Your positive attitude and simple, humble ways are what’s needed in America today!! Please keep going!!

    Hi Pete!
I just recently subscribed to your channel and have been watching as many of your posts as possible and liking them all. You mentioned in this post how you admire the excavator who has a channel and says very little, yet succeeds in telling a story. That’s an art in itself. However, I really enjoy and appreciate all your detailed descriptions of what you do and how you do it. I’ve learned so much from you about farming. My maternal grandmother was a farm gal, and I always loved to hear her memories of her life on the family farm in west central Ohio. Through your channel, I can understand what life was probably like for her. Her sister and brother still lived on and operated farms when I was a kid, and we would visit them. So I can live vicariously on a farm through your channel, but without the farm fresh aromas. I worked with several part time farmers when I worked at Airstream Mgf. in Jackson Center, Ohio (in Shelby County where I’m from) and one guy invited me out to observe him slaughter a heifer. I was trying to get over a weak stomach for such things, and it helped to some degree.
Nevertheless, please continue to post your videos and be assured that most viewers enjoy them.

Glaf your back pete. Hope all is well. Also, to answer your question regarding the old farm truck. Throw a flatbed on it, and either use it to haul new equipment home, or for hauling hay. Either from the field to the farm or for hauling from a sellers place back to the farm. And you could add your new hay trailer and haul even more hay! I think that would be an awesome use for it. You wouldnt be adding to many miles to it per year either!

You are so SPOT ON about keeping things in their original style. One of my passions is looking and learning about turn of the century homes. So many of them are downright beautiful, especially with the hand carved wood workings that they may have. I find many of these homes up in your neck of the woods in the northeast. It can also be heartbreaking when it's obvious that 'flippers' will get a hold of these beautiful homes and proceed to 'whitewash' EVERYTHING in them. Even fireplaces and all that beautiful wood. Thanks for being a breath of fresh air in this regard :)

Build a flatbed for the truck, and maybe use it to haul your round bales off the fields. Can use it to go get feed and mineral from town. When making wood for winter you can throw wood onto the bed and haul it back to the woodshed or even hauling brush and yard debris back out to the woods. Bunch of different uses for it just around the farmstead. Hope to see it again soon.

I think it’s important to NOT try to be something or someone that you aren’t. It’s good to have goals and to have people you admire. Very good to want to improve yourself everyday. Here’s the thing though: lots of times I get into my head over trivial stuff and start to make more out of it than it is. TH-cam sucks and the comment section is part of it. It’s both great and terrible at the same time because interaction is the zest of life, until it’s not. But it bothers you and that’s important to recognize. It’s a part of you that you probably hate, but it’s also what makes you so likable as a person. You wear your heart on your sleeve and that can hurt sometimes. However, that key trait makes you incredibly relatable. Thank you for your passion for farming and restorations.

Hi Pete . I am 64 grew up on a dairy farm 70s,80s,90s, and what you show on youtube is the real stuff. chores, fixing fence, oil changes, cars and trucks, showing the cattle, field work. you talk about things on the farm that a lot of people has never been there. thats awsome i think . I say keep up the good work and i miss the piggers. but i understand the cost of feed for them. Nothing is the same day on the farm.

On the truck restoration, it of course deserves to be resurrected as a fine example of Americana. As for use, I’ve found that if you build it, the uses will come. I bought a flatbed Ford over a decade ago to use as a 4WD plow truck , which it was already equipped for. However once one owns a decent flatbed other uses around the farm started showing up. I started hauling my own feed, which cumulatively has saved me a bunch. Similarly it had the capacity to move heavy building material, which would either require multiple trips with my F250 PU, or simply wouldn’t fit the F250. The biggest bonus as far as I’m concerned, as an older truck it is far, far easier to work on and maintain. If one believes the odometer, it has averaged about a 1000 miles a year since new. As such it will likely serve me and later my descendants for decades to come.
