You are forgetting the 5th option or 'way'! This being- for those who know Who is YAHWEH Elohim and His Son Yeshua Messiah- YAH 'makes A way where there is NONE! Your conscience resides within your forehead, not on it. Your actions are determined by what is in your hand, not on it. The manuscript provides plenty of context that agrees with "in" not "on"!
@Jayf1981 First of all I know all of that well. So here's this, brush up on the antichrists characteristics. Powerful, but limited and unlike The Almighty, that's fact. The Almighty knows all things at all times, & or present at All times. The antichrist is not able to be multiple places, & or All knowing. So there's also tracking involved, so that others involved will watch & do their thing. And it's one of of many means to do so. Just like many other Biblical events of Mark's which were used. Whether Cain, Passover drs, Tammuz worship - marked ash on forehead, right ear blood mark. So God knows, marked or not whose who...... Of course.
