How Important Is a GOOD Intercooler? We Find Out On a Can-Am X3!

- After our dyno session at Whalen Speed R&D with Kyle's X3, we determined it was time for for an intercooler upgrade. The skyrocketing charge air temps were really holding his machine back! Treal Performance hooked us up with their high performance intercooler/fan kit and we put it to the test to see how it compared to the stock piece! It absolutely impressed us!

offset fan and shroud an inch or so from surface of the intercooler, it will help performance by reducing dead spot around hub, corners, and making the air flow more efficiently through the fan as well.
Impressive results.
Impressive drop. Really cleared up my questioning as to if an aftermarket intercooler is worth the money. It definitely seems to be.

Brother! Out here in Tucson AZ. We are running a typical 200 degrees stock intercooler but override switch.

Would there be a measurable performance gain if you have a stock x3 rr?
The cooler the charge temps the better! Can’t go wrong adding this. Even at stock boost levels this should perform more consistently than the OEM intercooler.
What Intercooler would you recommend for RZR Pro XP?
I sell the Garrett piece; nicest one on the market!

Going to be down there 8/20. Got an Airbnb on the northern part of the lake!
What fuel and boost was the car running for this test?
E85. Not sure of exact boost; the OEM ecu will only output ~22psi for display purposes. We’re probably around 26.
Thats messed up that that factory sucks that bad.
It may perform okay at stock boost levels but at this level it’s not keeping up!
