Even rural West Virginia micro creeks are brown when running. Larger drainages have time to clear out the mud after a rain and still have water to paddle. But, yes, you have some amazingly clear water out there.
I love micro creaking. This is really cool video. The creeks I’m on aren’t quite this hard. But you’ll probably agree it’s the trees that are the worst part. And I think the most dangerous part too.
if that was filmed on a gopro change some settings please to give a wider FOV if it was not: nvm very interesting river. although that drop in the beginning looks unhealthy^^
Believe me I feel your frustration watching the footage. Superview won't help. This is a GoPro hero 4 because the hero 5 waterproofing leaked and broke the camera. The hero 5 had good zoomed out view on the wide setting. The hero 4 is *supposed* to have the same lens angle but it looks zoomed in. I have been really disappointed with it. It is definitely on the wide setting but it looks like it's on the narrow setting when you view the footage. I don't believe I needed to have the hero 5 on superview to get a much more zoomed out view but even if I did the hero 4 superview is horrible because it leaves a ton of artifacts when the camera is in motion which is always the case. The artifacts make it far more frustrating to watch than the more zoomed in "wide" setting. Nor is superview on the hero 4 even compatible with the zoomed out view of the hero 5. I've given up on the hero 4 and on GoPro in general. Recently purchased a Garmin Virb Ultra 30 which has an expanded view setting and good specs. GoPro doesn't seem to want to solve quality/support issues so they lost a customer.
@@OhioWhitewater hm, not sure its a problem of the heor 4 series but maybe a problem with your specific unit? my own hero4(black) is working just fina in that regard. you probably have already tried a firmware reset/update(?)
@@lordofnothing. yes, did firmware update as soon as I got the camera as a replacement for the Hero 5. I have at least one video you can see it in super view mode with the artifacts. I'll have to see if that video is online.
@@lordofnothing. take a look at this video and let me know what you think. th-cam.com/video/BrnPgxFabrg/w-d-xo.html It was filmed in Hero 4 superview and you can see in the very beginning of the video at the waterfall there is a lot of waviness on the perimeter of the screen. Very annoying. Never had that problem with the hero 5 as far as I recall. In any case I just got the Garmin virb ultra 30 in the mail yesterday and it seems like it will be great. Have yet to test it on the river. Hopefully soon!
@@OhioWhitewater yeah wow, those artifacts are bad! i wasnt thinking as much superview (personally prefer the wide over the super-wide on the hero 4) as that there seems to be a problem with some not-supposed-to-be-there-zooming-in to be going on.

Soooo many strainers 😳. Great job getting through there.
Looks like a blast. Thanks for all your videos!
Yet another fine installment. You guys have some mad skilz threading those narrow creeks, all the while staying safe.
That water looks nasty! I’m glad I get the boat out west with beautiful mountain streams

Plenty of nasty hazards to avoid there. Glad you had a fun trip with no incidents.
I actually grew up in Youngstown and didn’t start boating until I moved to Montana.

Indeed. Trees are scary and unpredictable.
Awesome stuff! Please let me know next time you go out. I wanna film some of this stuff bring if I can keep up!
Looked pretty intense. Those were some ugly strainers.
You gotta take me next time you go!
:50 was pretty crazy ride. Made my back hurt
Tons of rain, I bet you guys had some good runs today! (May 09 2021)
We didn't manage to paddle anything that day but there were definitely a ton of creeks running.
Hilarious micro creeks
Just a quick question. How is no one flipping and getting pinnned/killed? Illl Answer my own question....dam good kayakers thats 🤔
Are you paddling a LL Huck?? If so loved that boat.
Yes, indeed!
IF it ran more often a small saw would do wonders.
haha
Wow krass. Greetings ronactive

Have you ever done anything on Slipper Run in Peninsula?
I've hiked it but have yet to paddle it. There is one or two nice drops on it. Not much else though I think.
Maravilhoso
What’s around the rim of your paddle blade ? Is it tape or some form of Epoxy
It's just self adhesive car door trim. Helps save the blades from a lot of wear on these low volume creeks.
@@OhioWhitewater oh yeah I think I remember seeing that on a Alex Barham tutorial , I’m gonna have to try that!
I live in cincinnati where is this in relation to there
Several locations in northeast Ohio.
You should try super view on your go pro setting. You have it to far zoomed in.
