Hate to tell you this, but you are missing the point. Primaris Space Marine are second generation, they haven’t been in combat for that long plus some of them are very old since they were made from the Horus heresy era and not yet properly trained by the firstborn marine yet
They are functionally not old, but placed in stasis for 10k years in Chairon's case. You can argue that this lore is stupid (and it kinda is) but that isn't Saber's fault, it's GW's fault. Saber wouldn't be able to respect the lore without following what has been put down for Primaris. And GW likely wouldn't allow them to make a new SM game without Primaris because they want to cross promote their miniatures. It's kinda like the same problem that Baldur's Gate had. Lots of bandwagon complaining about how "woke" or goofy the game is, without realizing that 5e has been woke for years at this point and that Forgotten Realms has always been the campiest, dumbest setting of them all. Many points seem pretty misguided. Of course the Chaplain isn't going to immediately execute Titus for "suspicion" of heresy because of Titus' standing. We know that the Chapter Master was fucking FURIOUS, with direct quotes in the game, regarding Titus' imprisonment by the inquisition due to Leandros snitching. If Leandros was going to act, he had to be 1000% certain this time around. The "woke" diversity point is meaningless, The ultramarines have 500 worlds to recruit from. 500 planets are going to result in vastly different races and phenotypes. Now there is a discussion about how much the Primarchs Gene-seed effects the genetics and phenotype to adapt them to look like their primarch, but it's also known it does vary in how much it changes the Astartes, so it's very feasible that we get multiple ethnicities in the chapter. A general screaming "ON YOUR FEET GET MOVING SOLDIER!" and being competent at the role is also pertinent to the situation at hand. That being...they're in the middle of open war in 40k. The Sex of the general is irrelevent. Gadriel also had his reservations, absolutely, but the entire time he delivered those lines in a very political/tactical way so that they never overstepped the boundary. Titus was also bound because this is his first ever expidition back into the Ultramarine fold. If he just started offing sergeants not even a week after coming back from being accused of heresy it's going to turn EVERYONE against him. Many times marines/astartes have questioned or argued with leadership in lore books and gotten away with it because they are essentially Special Air Service x 1000. An anecdote I can provide is an RSM (imagine 2nd in command to a whole unit and the righteous fist of a CO) SCREAMED at a bloke walking across the parade square out in the open without his beret. The guy pulled his beret out and it was the SAS sand colour. Shut the RSM up instantly. So in that vein you can't so easily expend Astartes on petty disciplinary charges from just how valuable each one is to a chapter. The only caviat being Asmodai, in which case that goes out the window entirely. Space marine/Primaris powerarmour is sacred and holy to the chapter, maintained by the serfs/artificers and user themselves. They should never look shit or worn unless in the midst of battle. Hence why they always look pristine in condition. Story wise though I do have one major complaint. We are no closer to figuring out WHY Titus was "warp resistent" in the first game, which a plot point that hinged the entire first games narrative and also the introduction into this game. With the resolution to that only being teased as the story for a future space marine 3

But no, she's in command of her regiments and orders them where fit, but also is completely subserviant to Titus' commands and shifts manpower to accomodate their missions too. A competent character who doesn't outshine the protags whatsoever, and so happens to be a woman, is not "woke". They're just a good character in the setting! I'm not going to assume he's hating minorities for simply existing, he's given me no reason to. But I think this "anti-woke" crusade that's been going on the past 4-7 years has swept up people into always needed a dragon to slay, and now it's getting down to very petty things to justify the existence of "anti-woke" rallying cries. If you're going to complain about women fighting in 40k you've missed the boat for that by about, uh... 40 years, because it's always been that way. I am literally listening to a Ciaphas Cain audiobook where one of the important plot points is an all-women regiment integrating with a normal regiment due to losses. It's said that the Imperial Guard is about 10% women in that book, although a single figure from a single Black Library book hardly matters in the grand scheme of the canon. Also, I don't like diversity pandering but it's just weird to get hung up on Chairon being black. Like... do you think that black men make bad soldiers, or something? Have you seen how many black men are in the US military? Have you seen black churches and Baptist sermons? The idea that a black man wouldn't become a Space Marine (certain chapters notwithstanding) just seems... idiotic on its face.

He's trying to dog whistle for a certain audience and use this game's popularity for the views. But it doesn't work in this instance because the game is actually pretty well received by the gaming community. Complains of acents when our own planet can't have one universe language, let alone one accent for Chinese, English, etc. Good grief.
People of this generation REALLY need to start actually playing games / watching gameplay to judge their opinions rather than "waah this one character did something out of place in the story!" The game itself is straight up addicting, i HIGHLY recommend you give it a try.

They did say what was the point of the virus bomb - during the mission Titus records a message saying that Tyranids will adapt to the virus quickly but it will slow the invasion enough for the reinforcements to arrive. Somebody hasn't been paying attention.
Edit: after looking through other comments it's pretty obvious that this guy is trolling and we took the bait. Watching this made me realize you are either intentionally being misleading with the lore or you did surface level research into the lore because no one who knows the lore would make some of the many mistakes in this video. My first point is the “diverse space marines” and the female guardsmen general neither of these things contradict the lore there have been female guardsmen commanders and commissars for a while along with Asian and black space marines. Second point is the shadow in the warp argument no the shadow in the warp does not stop the forces of chaos from entering real space all it does is weaken them if that was true Hive Fleet Kronos would not exist and the at the end of the game you fight on a totally different world which the tyranids aren’t even on. Third point is the marines talking to each other and standing in the ship I don’t even understand your point here cause they are still people they are going to talk to each other when they don’t have an assignment from what I hear you just want them to be robots. Also how is Gadriel and Chairon never having fought the Tyranids “poor writing”? When I heard that line I just thought they must have been mainly fighting other xenos. Also your Leuze argument is dumb since there tons of Mechanicus members who have expressed emotions for example there is one story where a tech priest clones himself and it comes out female. Instead of killing it his parental instincts kick in and he raises her as his child and he was more cybernetic than Leuze and also Leuze is not as cybernetic as others which kinda explains why he is emotional. As to thinking it's woke just because you see different races, AND THEIR FACES, is just nonsense. If you want super realism? 40K in the future humans wouldn't all be pale-skinned. Just look at the projections of human features in our own very real timeline. The point of helmetless? Well, when you're selling 2MILLION copies and going for a global audience, maybe, just maybe they want people to come close to feeling included and like this universe isn't just bland everyone looking the same. Is the story a 10/10? No, of course not. And narrative for this game genre isn't exactly what the majority of people play this for. It's serviceable and fine. Lots of things don't make sense, even in the main lore. Streaming this for others, no one seemed to have near the problems with the story that some people are having. Granted most aren't die-hard WH fans, but even some that are mega fans didn't mind that much. People are enjoying the game. It's not a "lie" that the game is great if the majority of people seem to think so. You can disagree, but that doesn't make -your- view necessarily a lie either. This is an ill informed review. If you want to criticize the lack of content I would agree. But the little writing that it had is serviceable. The writing flaws you point out is simply untrue. For example in the cutscene before the second mission Titus said the effect of the virus bomb has worn off. You either willfully ignored it or didn’t pay attention.
Very small note but you mentioned the virus bomb never being mentioned again. One or two missions after that intro you can listen to chat between I believe it was two space marines on the hub ship where they talk about how the tyranids adapted to it even more quickly than they expected or something. A throwaway line by an npc you dont even have to look at or listen to but its there i guess
That's fair I have most likely missed it. In the greater context it wouldn't stop the tyrranids, so it was pointless regardless and that planet should've been devoured if we think of Tyranids that have shadow of the warp. Unlike in this game. The best example I can give is the first Tyranid war. They never invade a planet without it, it sounds off to handicap themselfs just for convenience of the story.

THE ENTIRE LORE OF 40K IS A GIANT FUCKING RETCON. -The message was specifically stated to have been sent to all NEARBY forces. The deathwatch's entire purpose is to watch for xenos. Why is it "deus ex machina" that they are nearby prior to a TYRANNID INCURSION? And as for the ultramarines, it is stated multiple times that they are there because guilliman ordered them to be. Since he is busy leading the imperium, it is unlikely he wouldnt be aware of any potential threats and i would hazard a guess he had the second company placed there for that purpose. -Chaos wanted the artifact. It was the lifes work of the two magos you meet in the game. For that to be the case, it was likely placed there not long after the first game and the thousand sons wouldve had P L E N T Y of time to set up a plan. In fact, you dont see them setting up proper and starting their major operations until the nids are driven off the planet. There is plenty of explanation for how and why they are there. This is tzeench we are talking about, he plays 5D chess when hes bored. -The virus bomb's effects were already finished by the time titus woke back up... it was effective for less than two days, and that was only done so that they could breathe for a second and figure out what to do next. This is explained multiple times in the tutorial and subsequent mission, as well as while you are on the battle barge. -You assumed the astropath was posessed the entire time. I assumed that she was posessed as she was sending the message. Which is what happened, because the guy in the chamber SPECIFICALLY WARNS ABOUT IT. Do you not know the concept of chekovs gun? -Have you ever listened to any soldier talk about what they did? 95% of their career was standing around waiting for someone to tell them to do something. Do you really think the astartes, who are already razor sharp btw, would be ANY different? We know they lead normal lives just like humans, with interests and hobbies and free time. They arent going to be training non-stop. And since the nids were only starting to recover by the time titus woke back up, what tyrannids would they be fighting at that point in time? -Titus was accused of corruption. No shit the chaplain was keeping a close eye on him at all times. He was the one that ACCUSED HIM. -The ultramarines recruit from many, many planets. Gee, I wonder why they have different accents and ethnicities? Furthermore, why does "being indoctrinated and bred for war" mean they would have the same accent? Again, look at real life militaries. That is not the case. They are taken as children who wouldve already begun speaking and had an accent. Thats called continuity. Bro black space marines literally exist. This isn’t a “there was always female custodes” thing either salamanders have been black for as long as I can remember (given it’s from the conditions on their home planet). And there has been a good deal of diversity in space marine appearance outside of armor paint. Be it minute things like hair like how that one space wolves guy actually a few have red hair or like the majority that have brown blonde or white. Asian space marines, well there’s Jaghadai Khan, though wrong legion ig. Or things like psychic potential. I don’t see how such minute things are all of a sudden impossible when decide it so. The shadow of the warp would not be a blanket comms blackout, you have to remember this is a splinter fleet and not a full hive fleet like in the first Tyrannic war and Titus being nearby could very easily be explained by the Deathwatch monitoring this splinter fleet which while it should of been explained to the player, is not story breaking like you suggest. Imurah is way too powerful to be stopped by the shadow, the guy summoned 100s of Rubric marines, a greater daemon and countless smaller minions.

Correct but not many would remember or play that game, and it didn't had that much involvement to the story. It was more of, heres a casual game and heres a minor story about titus. thats it. I was mainly isolating between Sm1 and Sm2 which is more "official" and maybe they couldve fleshed out there than in boltgun.

Although I do enjoy the game and parts of the story, I do enjoy watching reviews from people who are critical of the game and actually point out the important problems. Whether or not the devs are willing to give an explanation to the lore discrepancies and fix the general problems plaguing the game currently (my one hope is that they do so without breaking something else) is yet to be seen. I have high hopes, but a long standing 40k fan like myself knows that hope tend to be the first step to disappointment so I’ll be watching carefully. It’s a successful game, to be sure, but the year is far from over. Let us see if they can improve.

Idk about that, I just know every time a free to play game or some games that had easy anti cheat, they don't tend to do much against hackers. I haven't heard much positive things when it comes to easy anti cheat.
Finally a good review of this game that isnt glazed to death. Tldr this game feels under cooked atm, gameplay is decent but needs improvement, finished the campaign on hard in 12 hours, played a bit of co op and multiplayer, got shit bored and then just left it. Ill give it another chance in 6 months when it has the rest of its content released.
That's fair. I think gameplay wasn't too bad, there are always things that can be improved. It's a much better system than sm1 although there are some areas it could've done better. But the story.......it's bad.

Hey look I have been there my self during 8th edition I use to be that soy fan my self and simp GW a lot. But as time goes by and you start to notice a couple of things and get more and more into the hobby then some controversial stories happen then I start to backtrack and realise the whole thing lol. You forgot to mention that marines constantly commenting on shit they do "reloading, throwing a grenade" and dreadnought being completely Auto senses blind asking for directions, serves doing mopping instead of their actual duties, the voke marines and sarkana is the worse😂
I liked the operations mode (100+ hours) but yeah the campaign was dogshit. Every time Galahad and carnation, or whatever the fuck their names were, opened their mouths I had to stifle the urge to slam my head into the wall. Although my szhizo conspiracy theory is that the devs made the dialogue terrible on purpose to dog whistle to me and all the other fans that they agree that the super-duper-marines needed to get shoved into a locker.
One thing you forgot to mention is Chairon. In the game he is mentioned that it is a newly form primaris marine like Gadriel. Yet later in the game when you then start encountering Thousand Son forces, he states he was a there and a child at the Betrayal at Calth. If that is the case, then Chairon would not be around for the Rubicon surgery to become a Primaris marine, let alone too old since the Betrayal at Calth was during the Hourus Heresy, which is over 10,000 years before the events of Space Marines 2. If Chairon was in the Ultramarines a couple decades after the Betrayal at Calth; 1. Why does he look so young or a space marine? He should shown signs of aging, since you know, over 10,000 years. 2. If he was in the Ultramarines for that long, wouldn't he have more service studs than Titus? Yet Chairon is studless. Wouldn't Chairon also have service medals or ornaments ok his armor and helmet? Yet those too are bare except for a purity seel. 3. If Chairon is over 10,000 years old and served in the Ultramarines around that same amount of time, wouldn't he have a higher rank than titus and be in the Ultramrines 1st company or even been with/near captain Sicarius protecting Roboute Guilliman at most or have been with Marneus Calgar personal guard at the very least? 4. If Chairon is that old and served in the Ultramarines for that long, wouldn't he have more experience than even titus when it comes to dealing with Tyranids? 5. If Chairon is that old and served in the Ultramarines for that long, even with GW is canon until it's not canon lore breaking retcon bs, wouldn't Chairon be too old for the Rubicon surgery? Since it even has a low success rate amoungs the firstborn space marines. These are just a few things that could come to the top of my head that are very flawed about the character Chairon. Other than that, your review of Space Marine 2 story telling, characters, and writing wise is pretty spot on.

Its not woke because there's a certain race added. It is more of the intention of it. Was the intention to add there for diversity checklist or did they believe this will make a good character? Its all about the intention and there's a little bit of woke in it, not so much that its obviously in your face and they succeeded doing so. Having primaris marines gossiping behind their backs like some highschool girls and questioning command doesn't come as "masculine" as people think. And yes you are correct, current 40k fans don't care, because they want to talk about the lore to feel smart and lecture someone to death rather to enjoy the lore as it is and be as respectful to the source material.
Most of the points you've brought up are mostly just nitpicking, which usually is addressed by NPC dialogue in the game. But the point of the Shadow in the Warp still stands, it's something that GW constantly ignores outright in almost any story that they have where Tyranids are involved. That and ignoring almost all downsides of Warp travel for the sake of the story. Honestly the Shadow in the Warp just feel like GW writing themselves into a corner, because with it taken into account, most if not all Nid incursions turn into outright victories.

Marines bickering like school girls is peak millennial humor. This game looks and plays nice enough for people to gobble up due to most games releasing half baked and broken. They won't care about the "small" flaws like marines being emotional and willing to betray each other on a dime from accusations of those from outside the chapter.

They are post human, they are supposed to be stoic and calm at all times. Oh no a diverse character. My brother in E Ultramar is 500 WORLDS! All the races in the game come from 1 planet our planet. Fair, I thought the music wasn't too bad, but visually its like automatic yeah its good. Maybe the one part I forgot to add into it is, maybe the tone overall is trying to be too emotional for a faction that is meant to be emotionless.

Hate to tell you this, but you are missing the point. Primaris Space Marine are second generation, they haven’t been in combat for that long plus some of them are very old since they were made from the Horus heresy era and not yet properly trained by the firstborn marine yet

They are functionally not old, but placed in stasis for 10k years in Chairon's case. You can argue that this lore is stupid (and it kinda is) but that isn't Saber's fault, it's GW's fault. Saber wouldn't be able to respect the lore without following what has been put down for Primaris. And GW likely wouldn't allow them to make a new SM game without Primaris because they want to cross promote their miniatures.
It's kinda like the same problem that Baldur's Gate had. Lots of bandwagon complaining about how "woke" or goofy the game is, without realizing that 5e has been woke for years at this point and that Forgotten Realms has always been the campiest, dumbest setting of them all. Gale banging Mystra for example is not Larian's idea; Elminster did it before him. She's just a whore, canonically.

Many points seem pretty misguided.
Of course the Chaplain isn't going to immediately execute Titus for "suspicion" of heresy because of Titus' standing. We know that the Chapter Master was fucking FURIOUS, with direct quotes in the game, regarding Titus' imprisonment by the inquisition due to Leandros snitching. If Leandros was going to act, he had to be 1000% certain this time around.
The "woke" diversity point is meaningless, The ultramarines have 500 worlds to recruit from. 500 planets are going to result in vastly different races and phenotypes. Now there is a discussion about how much the Primarchs Gene-seed effects the genetics and phenotype to adapt them to look like their primarch, but it's also known it does vary in how much it changes the Astartes, so it's very feasible that we get multiple ethnicities in the chapter.
A general screaming "ON YOUR FEET GET MOVING SOLDIER!" and being competent at the role is also pertinent to the situation at hand. That being...they're in the middle of open war in 40k. The Sex of the general is irrelevent.
Gadriel also had his reservations, absolutely, but the entire time he delivered those lines in a very political/tactical way so that they never overstepped the boundary. Titus was also bound because this is his first ever expidition back into the Ultramarine fold. If he just started offing sergeants not even a week after coming back from being accused of heresy it's going to turn EVERYONE against him. Many times marines/astartes have questioned or argued with leadership in lore books and gotten away with it because they are essentially Special Air Service x 1000. An anecdote I can provide is an RSM (imagine 2nd in command to a whole unit and the righteous fist of a CO) SCREAMED at a bloke walking across the parade square out in the open without his beret. The guy pulled his beret out and it was the SAS sand colour. Shut the RSM up instantly. So in that vein you can't so easily expend Astartes on petty disciplinary charges from just how valuable each one is to a chapter. The only caviat being Asmodai, in which case that goes out the window entirely.
Space marine/Primaris powerarmour is sacred and holy to the chapter, maintained by the serfs/artificers and user themselves. They should never look shit or worn unless in the midst of battle. Hence why they always look pristine in condition.
Story wise though I do have one major complaint. We are no closer to figuring out WHY Titus was "warp resistent" in the first game, which a plot point that hinged the entire first games narrative and also the introduction into this game. With the resolution to that only being teased as the story for a future space marine 3
I was thinking a lot of the same stuff through the video. Especially him calling out the “woke” stuff cus we have so many badass female inquisitors, mechanicum, guardsmen and strangely enough custodians as of now. Also he isn’t saying it but we all know he’s upset about Chairon not Gadriel.

But no, she's in command of her regiments and orders them where fit, but also is completely subserviant to Titus' commands and shifts manpower to accomodate their missions too.
A competent character who doesn't outshine the protags whatsoever, and so happens to be a woman, is not "woke". They're just a good character in the setting!
I'm not going to assume he's hating minorities for simply existing, he's given me no reason to. But I think this "anti-woke" crusade that's been going on the past 4-7 years has swept up people into always needed a dragon to slay, and now it's getting down to very petty things to justify the existence of "anti-woke" rallying cries.

If you're going to complain about women fighting in 40k you've missed the boat for that by about, uh... 40 years, because it's always been that way. I am literally listening to a Ciaphas Cain audiobook where one of the important plot points is an all-women regiment integrating with a normal regiment due to losses. It's said that the Imperial Guard is about 10% women in that book, although a single figure from a single Black Library book hardly matters in the grand scheme of the canon.
Also, I don't like diversity pandering but it's just weird to get hung up on Chairon being black. Like... do you think that black men make bad soldiers, or something? Have you seen how many black men are in the US military? Have you seen black churches and Baptist sermons? The idea that a black man wouldn't become a Space Marine (certain chapters notwithstanding) just seems... idiotic on its face.

They did say what was the point of the virus bomb - during the mission Titus records a message saying that Tyranids will adapt to the virus quickly but it will slow the invasion enough for the reinforcements to arrive. Somebody hasn't been paying attention.

Watching this made me realize you are either intentionally being misleading with the lore or you did surface level research into the lore because no one who knows the lore would make some of the many mistakes in this video. My first point is the “diverse space marines” and the female guardsmen general neither of these things contradict the lore there have been female guardsmen commanders and commissars for a while along with Asian and black space marines.
Second point is the shadow in the warp argument no the shadow in the warp does not stop the forces of chaos from entering real space all it does is weaken them if that was true Hive Fleet Kronos would not exist and the at the end of the game you fight on a totally different world which the tyranids aren’t even on.
Third point is the marines talking to each other and standing in the ship I don’t even understand your point here cause they are still people they are going to talk to each other when they don’t have an assignment from what I hear you just want them to be robots. Also how is Gadriel and Chairon never having fought the Tyranids “poor writing”? When I heard that line I just thought they must have been mainly fighting other xenos.
Also your Leuze argument is dumb since there tons of Mechanicus members who have expressed emotions for example there is one story where a tech priest clones himself and it comes out female. Instead of killing it his parental instincts kick in and he raises her as his child and he was more cybernetic than Leuze and also Leuze is not as cybernetic as others which kinda explains why he is emotional.

If they are only minor, then it is successful. Even the Peter Jackson LOTR trilogy has its fair share.

Also: "ULTRAMAR: To this day, Ultramarines recruit not from a single world, but from the whole sub-sector of their local space." As to thinking it's woke just because you see different races, AND THEIR FACES, is just nonsense. If you want super realism? 40K in the future humans wouldn't all be pale-skinned. Just look at the projections of human features in our own very real timeline. The point of helmetless? Well, when you're selling 2MILLION copies and going for a global audience, maybe, just maybe they want people to come close to feeling included and like this universe isn't just bland everyone looking the same.
Is the story a 10/10? No, of course not. And narrative for this game genre isn't exactly what the majority of people play this for. It's serviceable and fine. Lots of things don't make sense, even in the main lore. Streaming this for others, no one seemed to have near the problems with the story that some people are having. Granted most aren't die-hard WH fans, but even some that are mega fans didn't mind that much.
People are enjoying the game. It's not a "lie" that the game is great if the majority of people seem to think so. You can disagree, but that doesn't make -your- view necessarily a lie either.

This is an ill informed review. If you want to criticize the lack of content I would agree. But the little writing that it had is serviceable. The writing flaws you point out is simply untrue. For example in the cutscene before the second mission Titus said the effect of the virus bomb has worn off. You either willfully ignored it or didn’t pay attention.

Very small note but you mentioned the virus bomb never being mentioned again. One or two missions after that intro you can listen to chat between I believe it was two space marines on the hub ship where they talk about how the tyranids adapted to it even more quickly than they expected or something. A throwaway line by an npc you dont even have to look at or listen to but its there i guess
That's fair I have most likely missed it. In the greater context it wouldn't stop the tyrranids, so it was pointless regardless and that planet should've been devoured if we think of Tyranids that have shadow of the warp. Unlike in this game.
The best example I can give is the first Tyranid war. They never invade a planet without it, it sounds off to handicap themselfs just for convenience of the story.

-The message was specifically stated to have been sent to all NEARBY forces. The deathwatch's entire purpose is to watch for xenos. Why is it "deus ex machina" that they are nearby prior to a TYRANNID INCURSION? And as for the ultramarines, it is stated multiple times that they are there because guilliman ordered them to be. Since he is busy leading the imperium, it is unlikely he wouldnt be aware of any potential threats and i would hazard a guess he had the second company placed there for that purpose.
-Chaos wanted the artifact. It was the lifes work of the two magos you meet in the game. For that to be the case, it was likely placed there not long after the first game and the thousand sons wouldve had P L E N T Y of time to set up a plan. In fact, you dont see them setting up proper and starting their major operations until the nids are driven off the planet. There is plenty of explanation for how and why they are there. This is tzeench we are talking about, he plays 5D chess when hes bored.
-The virus bomb's effects were already finished by the time titus woke back up... it was effective for less than two days, and that was only done so that they could breathe for a second and figure out what to do next. This is explained multiple times in the tutorial and subsequent mission, as well as while you are on the battle barge.
-You assumed the astropath was posessed the entire time. I assumed that she was posessed as she was sending the message. Which is what happened, because the guy in the chamber SPECIFICALLY WARNS ABOUT IT. Do you not know the concept of chekovs gun?
-Have you ever listened to any soldier talk about what they did? 95% of their career was standing around waiting for someone to tell them to do something. Do you really think the astartes, who are already razor sharp btw, would be ANY different? We know they lead normal lives just like humans, with interests and hobbies and free time. They arent going to be training non-stop. And since the nids were only starting to recover by the time titus woke back up, what tyrannids would they be fighting at that point in time?

This isn’t a “there was always female custodes” thing either salamanders have been black for as long as I can remember (given it’s from the conditions on their home planet). And there has been a good deal of diversity in space marine appearance outside of armor paint. Be it minute things like hair like how that one space wolves guy actually a few have red hair or like the majority that have brown blonde or white. Asian space marines, well there’s Jaghadai Khan, though wrong legion ig. Or things like psychic potential. I don’t see how such minute things are all of a sudden impossible when decide it so. The shadow of the warp would not be a blanket comms blackout, you have to remember this is a splinter fleet and not a full hive fleet like in the first Tyrannic war and Titus being nearby could very easily be explained by the Deathwatch monitoring this splinter fleet which while it should of been explained to the player, is not story breaking like you suggest. Imurah is way too powerful to be stopped by the shadow, the guy summoned 100s of Rubric marines, a greater daemon and countless smaller minions.

I honestly don't know why anyone expects consistent writing out of this franchise. It's licensed out to anyone and everyone who wants a piece of it and it's always been that way. The consistent parts are the ones I celebrate. If I spent my time looking for inconsistencies in 40k lore, I'd have no time for anything else. The fact that it's stayed together for this long is a miracle really.

Although I do enjoy the game and parts of the story, I do enjoy watching reviews from people who are critical of the game and actually point out the important problems. Whether or not the devs are willing to give an explanation to the lore discrepancies and fix the general problems plaguing the game currently (my one hope is that they do so without breaking something else) is yet to be seen. I have high hopes, but a long standing 40k fan like myself knows that hope tend to be the first step to disappointment so I’ll be watching carefully.
It’s a successful game, to be sure, but the year is far from over. Let us see if they can improve.

Finally a good review of this game that isnt glazed to death. Tldr this game feels under cooked atm, gameplay is decent but needs improvement, finished the campaign on hard in 12 hours, played a bit of co op and multiplayer, got shit bored and then just left it. Ill give it another chance in 6 months when it has the rest of its content released.
That's fair. I think gameplay wasn't too bad, there are always things that can be improved. It's a much better system than sm1 although there are some areas it could've done better.
But the story.......it's bad.

You forgot to mention that marines constantly commenting on shit they do "reloading, throwing a grenade" and dreadnought being completely Auto senses blind asking for directions, serves doing mopping instead of their actual duties, the voke marines and sarkana is the worse😂
I liked the operations mode (100+ hours) but yeah the campaign was dogshit. Every time Galahad and carnation, or whatever the fuck their names were, opened their mouths I had to stifle the urge to slam my head into the wall. Although my szhizo conspiracy theory is that the devs made the dialogue terrible on purpose to dog whistle to me and all the other fans that they agree that the super-duper-marines needed to get shoved into a locker.

One thing you forgot to mention is Chairon. In the game he is mentioned that it is a newly form primaris marine like Gadriel. Yet later in the game when you then start encountering Thousand Son forces, he states he was a there and a child at the Betrayal at Calth. If that is the case, then Chairon would not be around for the Rubicon surgery to become a Primaris marine, let alone too old since the Betrayal at Calth was during the Hourus Heresy, which is over 10,000 years before the events of Space Marines 2. If Chairon was in the Ultramarines a couple decades after the Betrayal at Calth;
1. Why does he look so young or a space marine? He should shown signs of aging, since you know, over 10,000 years.
2. If he was in the Ultramarines for that long, wouldn't he have more service studs than Titus? Yet Chairon is studless. Wouldn't Chairon also have service medals or ornaments ok his armor and helmet? Yet those too are bare except for a purity seel.
3. If Chairon is over 10,000 years old and served in the Ultramarines around that same amount of time, wouldn't he have a higher rank than titus and be in the Ultramrines 1st company or even been with/near captain Sicarius protecting Roboute Guilliman at most or have been with Marneus Calgar personal guard at the very least?
4. If Chairon is that old and served in the Ultramarines for that long, wouldn't he have more experience than even titus when it comes to dealing with Tyranids?
5. If Chairon is that old and served in the Ultramarines for that long, even with GW is canon until it's not canon lore breaking retcon bs, wouldn't Chairon be too old for the Rubicon surgery? Since it even has a low success rate amoungs the firstborn space marines.
These are just a few things that could come to the top of my head that are very flawed about the character Chairon.
Other than that, your review of Space Marine 2 story telling, characters, and writing wise is pretty spot on.

Most of the points you've brought up are mostly just nitpicking, which usually is addressed by NPC dialogue in the game.
But the point of the Shadow in the Warp still stands, it's something that GW constantly ignores outright in almost any story that they have where Tyranids are involved. That and ignoring almost all downsides of Warp travel for the sake of the story.
Honestly the Shadow in the Warp just feel like GW writing themselves into a corner, because with it taken into account, most if not all Nid incursions turn into outright victories.
There is no 40k cannon, GW can just do what ever they want and made it clear years ago.

Marines bickering like school girls is peak millennial humor. This game looks and plays nice enough for people to gobble up due to most games releasing half baked and broken. They won't care about the "small" flaws like marines being emotional and willing to betray each other on a dime from accusations of those from outside the chapter.

They are post human, they are supposed to be stoic and calm at all times. If he had suspicions he is supposed to report to the Chaplin directly and not pull a SM 1 leandros.
