- In this video, we take a closer look at the latest GBD-200 model that G-Shock released in July 2021. We checkout all the 3 color variants in the GBD-200 lineup and how it fares against its cousin GBD-100. I have done a quick comparison of sizes among popular G-Shock watches too!

The day GBD/GBX series watches start coming with tough solar, I'll insta-buy them. The features are enough right now its just Casio need to give the feature their watches are known for- tough solar.

@@richt1815 because it is business. They want to keep the demand going, so they can make profit. If casio make a "perfect" gshock, then people will not buy their other products because they (the customers) already bought the perfect one.
@@dodopuipui1440 absolutely! I understand business. I also know that casio can put out any g shock design at this point and ppl will buy them no matter what. I'm sure casio understands, they have to make a watch with complications specific to customers. Can you honestly make a watch that has everything everyone wants? No. It just feels like there's always that one thing missing lol I have the gbd-h1000 it has everything I could need. To me it's the same as my Rangeman 9400 but with step count, heart rate, workout, and MIP screen.
If you have low-iq this might be hard but you can go to the store and guess what you can buy batteries for watches and you can replace them when they go dead really easy 10 minutes

Yes, but in reality, it's more of a dullish blue and a little darker than you see in the video.
The MIP display with the square design is a perfect match.
That black version is mind blowing..but with that much features G shock must build that watch with solar power.
I think all those features are also the reason for not having solar. I think they might use too much battery for people living in northern countries where there isn't a lot of sun

If it only had Tough solar....such a module could really benefit from the solar recharging. I'd love a square version of the GBD-H1000

Wish this had solar too but the battery is super easy to change. It's not a deal breaker for sure

I won't be able to go back to any other digital display after this. Everything else looks like a calculator in comparison.

Those are some good looking watches! Blue is my favorite color, but I'd get the lime green version! Not often I buy green items.
This really is a nice looking G-SHOCK. I have the very similar gbx-100, but I’m still tempted to pick this one up. It’s almost like a square’s evolved cousin from the future.
What about battery life? Worth buying?
Actually , its GBD 100 but with GBX 100 looks alike .
@@un_reveur it's worth it! Don't be scared to buy this because of battery. The cr2035 battery can be found everywhere and it's super easy to install. It last a lot longer then casio recommends.

Yup, me too.
Don't be scared to buy this watch because of the battery. Same with the gbd-100. The battery last longer then recommended by casio and, honestly it's easy to change. The battery can be found anywhere. Even the dollar store sells the cr2035 battery. The water resistances isn't affected unless you botch the installation.

@@Gsyoku But according to the colour code 9 it is a yellow and it looks like a Fluorescent yellow watch to me. This looks like it could be the most bright fluorescent G-Shock casio ever made. I wonder how it compares to the GBD-800 for instance? I think this model would also look awesome with jelly resin. Would be cool to see it in neon yellow jelly resin with yellowgold face plate.

Reviews tell that the color wears off and show the black material under it.
Just got the black one Friday, the day it was released in Canada and the day of my birthday. Today, Sunday, 2 days later, the green one has already sold out!

@learner you can keep charging it indefinitely without needing to change batteries. Changing of batteries tend to compromise water resistance.

These will be available in Canada on August of 2021. I wanted to wait for this but I end up buying the hbd1000 coz of tough solar and heart rate for running and other sports. If they make a tough solar version of this then I'll pick that one up also 😆
Saw one in shop window and couldn't believe how attractive the line is and how legible. Can read it from 10 metres away. Great display. WHY on earth is it not solar or rechargeable? You start using steps, notification, light and how long really will the battery last. I want it, I need it but I'm gonna force myself to wait for the solar, DAMN!!

Nice review Gsyoko. Although, consider wishing something like "stay adventurous" to G Shock aficionados as "stay safe" is a bit non sequitur to a rough and tumble crowd.
Don't care about the step-tracker, will buy this on looks & MIP display alone, being eyeing G-Shock square for long time, but the existing displays not really legible.
Yeah nobody is really buying a gshock for the fitness features. Plenty of cheap fitness bands 1/4th of the price do it better.

Thanks for the video. The GBD-200 is available in the UK, mine was delivered today! Really like it so far, but I am wondering if there is a way to control exactly which phone notifications get through to the watch, or is it basically all or nothing?

Very nice video with comparisons of other models, MIP is the way to go, so much better than standard STN displays. But only step tracker, wish includes more features eg sunrise/sundown & solar. The lime green looks the best, glad did not got the G-LIDE earlier, due to design.

Wonder when they come up with square featuring daily usable buttons (the tiny metal ones are for me just set and forget), solar, radio controled/bluetooth.

If your waiting, your missing out! Don't be scared of the battery. It last longer then casio recommends and it's super easy to change. They battery for this watch is cheap and available almost everywhere you can buy batteries.
you know if this watch has a cycling function? or is is just running? great looking watch and would will buy one if its got a cycling app that links to strava
Got this watch just a couple days ago. Pretty good except the snooze alarm can’t be disabled easily. Kind of annoying having to go switch the alarm off to disable it from going off every 5 minutes, and then having to turning it back on again if I need to continuously use it the next day.

How are the notifications? I'm looking to have something similar to my fossil hybrid hr and that thing does a great job of showing me notifications and what is in them. Reading a text without fumbling with my phone is great. I can't seem to find anywhere that talks much about it with this style watch. I know the new smartwatches do that fine, but I don't want a watch that has to be charged daily. What about battery life on this one?

You can read the messages in the watch but the whole process isn't that intuitive. This watch comes with a non-rechargeable battery. With active use probably will last you for 1 year. You can just replace it once it goes out (CR2032 coin battery).

Don't buy it for notifications , you need to press multiple buttons to view complete notification, Only calls notification is ok, so that you are aware who is calling , even 30 USD amazfits do that better :D

@@AceInvader i got gbdh1000 with knowing the limitations and that is like 400usd .. , still satisfied ... I moved from android wear to gshock due to constant charging and notifications nightmare ... Trust me u will not regret ur decision to go with gbd200
But is there like first couple of words shown for message? Or just a type of message and a name from whom you got it (like in gbx-100)?
Bluetooth model with regular battery in 2021. Big brain moment right there.
10 minutes to change a battery once a year or two > charging a watch everyday.
Add solar and a non negative display and I would buy on every color!

Would be awesome if the modules can be swapped with the G-Lide, the lime strap with the tide and moonphase would be really good
you can swap the modules but the gbx case has an extra button i think so you won't be able to use it properly in the gbd case. it would be easier to change only the straps if that's possible...
@@lulul which is the extra button? They both have 2 on each side and the 1 on the front
@@robhutton2661 you are correct. I mixed things up.. I knew the gbx100 and the gbd100 had different button arrangements even though the modules are phisicaly the same and cam be switched..
It seems that the gbd100 is different and the other two seem to have the same button layout.. Theoretically the modules should be interchangeable..

Had the yellow for a couple of months now. Love it to bits but just wish it was solar
gshock should add more function for sport activities. not every sport watch can stand water resistant up to 20bar.

if this was sized like a dw5600 this would be an amazing hit.
It basically is: 49.4×45.9×15mm versus 48.9×42.8×13.4mm, I expect it to fit nearly unnoticeably different on wrist. Is shaving off 1-2mm here and there really going to determine if a watch is a hit?
@@CHEMP0P size matters you know. it might determine if it fits just right, or fits just too big. it will probably still fit me, i hear you. but under 7inch wrist it will look way too big i think. but yeah, its personal preference, and the way we are going with watch sizes is that people aren't really buying massively large watches anymore. that's just my feeling about it. it is a nice watch, but i think my dw5600 will just fit so much better, ill try it on nevertheless and might even end up buying it. we'll see. nice watch for sure.

Can the vibration function be used with interval training? i.e. vibrate when interval time is up?
Yes! Once you turn off the beep and turn on the vibration. The vibration will be the only notifications you get, like notifications, alarms, workouts, timers ect.
I own one of these but I regret it now considering the poor bluetooth networking. The watch unpairs itself frequently & it takes me minutes literally to pair them up again. 3-4 pairing & waiting it to get connected everyday.

Oh yes! I missed the Multiband 6. Since this watch is supposed to be used with smartphone, it auto updates the time from the phone. I guess thats why G-Shock havent included that in...it will be a perfect watch with that combo.

I have a question. Most times, my watch counts in increments of 6 or 7 steps. However, a few other times, it tracks in increments of 1 or 2 steps and I can't seem to figure out why it does this. Is this some sort of a defect?

I have the gbd100 and I can say that the negative display is more readable then many positive displays. The screen is viewable even 90degrees away.

Nope, it doesn't seem to have this function. I wanted it too, it it's not there.
Does it need to be connected to your phone to record running distance?
No it doesnt have to be. The built in sensor will roughly calculate the distance. However, it is suggested to connect the watch atleast once for the run, for it to calibrate.
