It's good to see commentary from an Orbit. I think about new fans. How they have no idea what any of the members have been through. I read somewhere that some people didn't even know Chuu could sing. Chuu is actually my Ult idol. Not for her talent. She had a lot of talent. For her being a unique soul. She's not the absolute best singer on the planet. She's a really good singer. She isn't the absolute best dancer. But she can dance and keep up in one of the best dancing groups in the history of kpop. Chuu is my Ult because she has made me smile so much.
Thsi is my interpretation but I see the monsters in Howl as they are looking out for her in her time of darkness. The first part she is hiding away and afraid to show herself, but the big monster is pulling her to go out finally. Then the little one is reminding her to see beauty and take of herself. Giving her the things she needs to do so, flowers and making sure she enjoys her time out. Then you see she begins to see the colors again, literally they are bringing the light back to her. Finally they are following her to always be there.
The first half of 2023 was a NIGHTMARE for the Loona members and Orbit, but we, and they, are LIVING in the second half. SOOO much amazing music from Odd Eye Circle, Loossemble, Chuu, and next up HeeJin (and can't forget about HaSeul's concerts and new song)...
I really enjoy listening to these two and rest of the mini album. At the same time, I am happy with all the releases (OEC, Loossemble , and Chuu) so far in this post-LOONA era.
Yes, orbit, it’s really good to see OT12 spreading their new subunit or individual wings like bright butterflies to success again! Thoughts: Underwater has such a recognizable Chuu quality. Nice. HOWL hits so well with the high-notes in the chorus… better than expected. But the song is too short, and the long beginning “chant” part needs an octave change or something to keep it moving. But otherwise it’s my favorite song. Very moving❣️
Regarding the big monster, I personally interpreted it as a "perspective" kinda thing. When it's in the dark, it looks scary, doesn't it? But once brought into the light, into a new place (a perspective change), it's actually quite cute. The song, on the other hand, is AMAZING. I loooooove 'Howl'. Might be my favorite title track post BBC so far. The album is good, but there's, like...a pretty big lack of bridges/middle-8s throughout the album (except on 'My Palace') which is bit unfortunate since Chuu kinda used to be the actual bridge girl in LOONA with getting a line in almost every OT12 bridges, usually the big climax of the song. But lots of the songs on the album....don't have that? That doesn't make them bad, not at all, but it's a bit...jarring. I'm hoping her company drops that trend immediately because with a voice like hers, you want to hear MORE of her, not less???

Underwater is sooo good!! Howl on the other hand is a bit too experimental for my taste
